Thithi Nithya Devi's The worship of the Nitya Devis connected with the phases of the moon is an important

aspect of Tantrak worship. According to the Indian sashtras like Lalitopakhyanam, Tantrarajatantra, Dakshinamurti Samhita, Vasistha Samhita, Kamakala Vilasam and Bhairava Yamalam ; the following is the religious and celestial significance of the phases of the moon. The Moon has 1 kalas, or phases. Out o these !" are visi#le to us and the !$th is #eyond our visi#ility. In the "ri )hakra these 1( nityas are present in the innermost circle% and the Devi is in the central *indu. $n &oornima or full moon day all the 1( Nityas are in the moon and the moon is shining vi!rantly. $n the 1st Thithi after the *oornima, *rathamai, one Nitya leaves the moon and goes to the sun and the moon is reduced slightly in si+e. $n the su!se,uent D5iteeya Tithi another Nitya leaves the moon and goes to the sun and the moon is further reduced in si+e. This way they leave one !y one till the moon !ecomes completely dark on the 1(th day% which is called &mavasya or the new moon day. This is kno5n as Krishna *aksha or the 5anin4 phase. After Amavasya they return one !y one on each Tithi and the moon starts shining again till it-s full on the &oornima when the last Nitya returns to it. This is called Shukla *aksha. Kames5ari to 1hitra are the 6ityas rulin4 the Krishna *aksha Tithis rom *ratipada to &mavasya. 9n Shukla *aksha the order o the 6ityas is reversed, i.e., 1hitra to Kames5ari.
