Programs
Omnicom offers a comprehensive Intensive English Program as well as a range of specialized courses, which can develop your skills from beginner to advanced levels. Test preparation courses include TOEFL iBT, TOEIC, and Cambridge Examination Preparation for the FCE and CAE exams. Students will develop their professional skills through our multi-faceted curriculum; Work and Study, Tourism and Hospitality, Business English and Internship. For students who just want to interact with the local community, we recommend our Focus on Communication Programs to sharpen their speaking and listening skills. (English ONLY Policy is enforced)

Atmosphere
Omnicom maintains a comfortable atmosphere, giving students a home away from home experience. We place a premium on your authentic experience, getting a feel for the community, and living as the locals live.

Activities
Omnicom coordinates activities for students outside the class, to further language acquistion and to allow students to take full advantage of their Canadian experience. We begin locally, with walking tours of the city, and evening activities with the teachers and staff. Theres something for everyone in both Calgary and Toronto. Our counsellors and staff are on hand to guide, direct, and advise. With this introduction, students can explore the culture and customs at their own pace.

Homestay/Residence

What is Homestay?
Homestay offers the opportunity to live with a Canadian family and to practice language skills daily. Omnicom carefully selects local host families to provide a safe, friendly environment. Our Homestay Coordinator personally interviews all families and inspects their homes. Like all the support staff at Omnicom, the Homestay Coordinator is here to help your easy transition into Canadian life. The Homestay Program gives you the opportunity to experience an added dimension to language learning. You will acquire valuable knowledge about everyday aspects of life, leisure, and culture in a modern Canadian city. Your homestay hosts will welcome you into their household like a member of the family. You will have your own key to the house, a private room that is comfortably equipped with a bed, desk, chest of drawers, closet, and proper lighting. Your family will provide two or three proper meals per day. The homestay family will most likely invite you to join them on various outings or excursions. You should take advantage of these opportunities to see the city and get to know your homestay family better.

Omnicom offers Residence Accommodation. Accommodation (Toronto only).


Students have the opportunity to stay in hotel rooms, apartments or furnished suites. Space is limited. Please contact Omnicom School of Languages for more information.

Enrolment
Before coming to Canada, students planning to be in Canada longer than six months must obtain a Study Permit from the Canadian Embassy or Consulate in their home country. Students should have sufficient funds to study and live in Canada. A letter of acceptance from Omnicom is required for your Study Permit. This letter will be issued to all students upon receipt of the completed registration form and payment. It is each students responsibility to verify all visa procedures with the Canadian Embassy before his or her arrival. Students are also required to make arrangements for international health and medical insurance prior to their arrival in Canada. Calgary (pop. 1 million) is the fastest growing city, the fastest developing business centre and the third largest municipality in Canada. It is also the city with the highest average income, highest educational qualifications, and the highest number of computer users! Yet it still has all the advantages of a small city - friendly, welcoming people, safe streets and an easy transport system. Calgary is always ranked high among the worlds most livable cities by UNESCO. Calgary offers many activities, attractions, events and sports so there is always something to do. Asian, Latino, African and other multicultural festivals, the Calgary Stampede, dynamic arts, music and culture scenes, exciting night life, NHL Hockey, CFL Football as well as other professional sports and many in-city parks and pathways contribute to making this a special city. Calgary also offers good value with great shopping Alberta is the only province with no sales tax! Calgary is situated at the foot of the magnificent Rocky Mountains. In summertime this means fabulous sightseeing and hiking around Banff, Lake Louise and many other beautiful places and in wintertime, incredible skiing/snowboarding at the Olympic ski stations. Close too, are the unique Dinosaur Badlands. With a dry, moderate climate, Calgary has on average more than 200 days of sunshine a year. Summers are warm, and although winters can be cold, the Chinooks, warm and dry winds which blow down from the mountains, mean that the cold never last for long! Omnicom School has an excellent downtown location, one block from the City Train with many bus stops right in front providing easy access to anywhere in the city. All city centre attractions and facilities are just a short walk away. For all these reasons, Calgary and Omnicom are an increasingly popular choice for students from all over the world!

As the largest city in Canada, Toronto attracts millions of visitors each year. Consistently ranked as one of the worlds most livable cities by UNESCO, Toronto is the complete package big-city convenience with the safety and comfort of a small town. Torontos diverse cultural heritage translates into a multitude of world renowned festivals and carnivals, such as Caribana, the Toronto International Film Festival, the Beaches Jazz Festival, and the Dragon Boat Festival, to name just a few. Intensive English Programs

Focus on Communication
(FCA25, FCB25, FCS15, FCL10)

Comprehensive English language courses are available for all students, from Beginner to Advanced. Modern teaching methods and technologies ensure that all our programs maintain the highest of educational standards. Students also choose a specific area of language focus in our Elective Class*, a 4-hour weekly component of our Intensive English Programs.
*Conversation / Pronunciation, TOEFL iBT Preparation, TOEIC Preparation, Business English, Creative Writing, Canadian Culture, Debating, World Issues, Business English Cambridge Preparation, Conversation, Focus on Vocabulary Development or Accent Reduction.

This two-part Focus on Communication Program Speaking and Listening - develops students speaking skills with a focus on accuracy, quality, speed and fluency. Students sharpen their listening skills through the use of multi-media and various audio texts.

Study and Work in Canada Program


(SWC25)

Develop your English skills with the purpose of living and working in Canada while here on a working holiday visa. Students acquire the practical skills for daily situations as well as the crucial skills necessary for success in the North American job market.

Power English for Life

English for Tourism & Hospitality


(ETH25)

This course is designed for Low to Intermediate levels and focuses on speaking and listening skills along with some survival skills. This 8-week course consists of the following modules: shopping, complaints, travel, banking/money, apartment hunting, volunteering, job hunting and eating out.

Students will learn various aspects of these exciting and fast growing industries, and acquire the essential vocabulary used in travel services, hotels and airports. The course will help to develop and improve English skills for a successful career in travel industry. Vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, listening, writing and career skills are some of the skills covered during this course.

12 Academic / College Preparation


(ACP25)

Work effectively in todays corporate community. Programs consist of in-class practice with a focus on real-life situations. Acquire business vocabulary and communication skills through interactive activities, such as role-play, discussions and case studies. Experience first hand the Canadian corporate structure with field trips and extracurricular activities.

Students will focus on grammar, pronunciation, colloquial North American English, sentence structure, essay writing and oral presentations through public speaking. Students learn to take notes and develop evaluation and study techniques for success in college or university level programs in North America.

Business English Diploma plus Internship Program


(BID25)

Students who successfully complete the Omnicom Business English Diploma Program (12 weeks) will be eligible for an unpaid internship position with a Canadian company. During their internship, students will improve their English skills and gain valuable international work experience.

13 IELTS Preparation Program (IELTS25)


Students will develop the skills and expertise required to succeed in the internationally renowned IELTS exam ( both academic and general training modules). The program focuses on all four exam sections: reading, writing, listening and speaking through ample in-class practice as well as computer lab. (Full-time day classes or Part-time evening classes)

TOEFL iBT Program


(IBT15, IBT25)

Our TOEFL iBT Program will allow students to gain the skills and test strategies to meet the challenges of this internet based scholastic test. Students will equally focus on the different sections of the test including reading, listening, speaking and writing through in-class activities and computer software.

14 Private Instruction (PRI10)


Individual tutoring is available to students of all levels of ability. Students progress at their own pace and through careful monitoring of students progress, the program leaders are able to tailor the curriculum to each individual students ability and preference.

15 Specialized Group Packages


We can create an educational and travel package that suit your group needs!

TOEIC Preparation is available part-time, and may be combined with our regular IES(15) course for a chance to practice all language skills while focusing on improving TOEIC performance. Omnicom Toronto offers the TOEIC test. A minimum number of students must be registered for the test to be held.

16 English for Nursing (ENS25)


The program is designed for internationally-trained nurses and nursing students whose first language is not English. This program will enhance speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in a medical context; focus on pertinent medical terminology; develop awareness of formal, colloquial and idiomatic English associated with healthcare; as well as explore nursing-related sociocultural issues in medical technology in Canada/North America.

10 Cambridge Examination Preparation Program


(FCE25, CAE25)

Students will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to perform well in the FCE (First Certificate in English) and CAE (Certificate in Advanced English) exams. The program focuses on the 5 components including reading, writing, listening, speaking, and English in use.

17 Petroleum English (PES25)


Petroleum English is an intensive English course designed for those students who are interested in the oil and gas industry. This program will enhance speaking, listening, reading, writing and vocabulary skills specific to the industry. Students will be introduced to cultural aspects of working environments along with some tips on specific projects.

11 Summer / Winter Language Activity Course


(SWL25)

Available to students of all ages and levels. Combine language learning with your holidays. Please contact us for more information about schedules and costs.

Activities
Master English in Canada While Having Fun

Toronto

offers a wide range of activities including cultural excursions, sporting events, performing arts and cinemas. Field trips are an important part of learning about Canadian culture and offer an opportunity to speak with native English speakers. Typical day trips in the Toronto area include visits to Toronto Island, the CN Tower, Niagara Falls, Casa Loma, the Ontario Science Centre, the Royal Ontario Museum and Canadas Wonderland. Overnight and extended weekend trips include visits to Algonquin Provincial Park, Ottawa (the capital city of Canada), Montreal, Quebec City, New York City, and Chicago. For sports fans there is soccer, basketball, hockey, and baseball. In addition, students will be given the chance to work together with Canadians as volunteers. Omnicom Toronto offers these activities on a regular basis - ask our Activities Coordinator for details.

Rocky Mountain resorts such as Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper, as well as Waterton National Park and the Dinosaur Badlands surround the city of Calgary and offer many day trips and overnight adventures for international students to enjoy. Students will have the chance to ice skate, ski and snowboard in the winter and hike, camp and go river rafting in the summer. Other activities include barbecues, bowling, movies, museums, and sporting events such as professional hockey, football and baseball. The most exciting, of course, is the world famous Calgary Stampede which takes place each year in July! All of these activities, and more, are available to students registered at Omnicom Calgary.

University & College Pathway

Omnicoms Pathway Program prepares students to study at Canadian universities and colleges. Successful completion of the program allows entry into many of Omnicoms partnered institutions without external test scores (TOEFL, IELTS,etc.)
