Nouns Nouns are names of people, animals, places and things. These names are called common nouns.

. E.g. man, cousin, nurse, village, field, classroom, hat, lorry and plate. People, animals, places and things may have special names too. These special names are called proper nouns. They start with capital letters. E.g. Mr Wong, Misha, Kuala Lumpur, January, Kilometrico, Proton Waja and Tompok. Wrong (X) Our class teacher is miss regina. My friends went to london last year. Exercise: Underline all the Proper Nouns in this passage. Mr. Chan has two daughters. Mey Lin, the eldest daughter, is a pupil of Sekolah Kebangsaan Kuang. She is sitting for her Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah this year. Her sister, Mey Kuan, is only a Primary Two student. She is a pupil of Sekolah Kebangsaan Damansara Damai. Mr. Chan promised both of the girls that he will give each of them a Guess watch if they pass their examination. Exercise: Use capital letters in the correct places. 1.
