Florida Association of Special Districts Names New Executive Director

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. The Board of Directors of the Florida Association of Special Districts (FASD) has appointed CMC & Associates (CMC) to manage the office of Executive Director with Fred Crawford as the lead. FASD is celebrating its 35th anniversary, and the association is proud to have been the driving force that has strengthened the laws that govern special purpose governments and for providing education regarding special districts to its members and the general public. Over the last 35 years, FASD has developed educational modules, such as the Certified District Manager (CDM) and Certified District Official (CDO) programs. FASD also partners with the Department of Employment Opportunity to provide an annual education conference to promote best practices in managing special districts and to provide the most up-to-date information regarding special districts. CMC will lead FASD in its mission to unify and strengthen special purpose government through education, the exchange of ideas and active involvement in the legislative process. Having served as FASDs Conference Manager since 2001 and Executive Director from 2005 -2008, Crawford is very familiar with the association and well equipped for the role. CMC will help FASD continue to move forward, grow the association and promote special purpose government. The FASD is forever grateful for the commitment and leadership Jim provided our association as our executive director, said ONeal Bardin, FASD President. We are happy to welcome Fred to our wonderful group of professionals, and we are confident he will continue Jims good work of continuing to strengthen special purpose government and the services our special district leaders and members can provide for their communities. The outgoing Executive Director, retired Chief James Angle of the Palm Harbor Special Fire and Rescue District, relinquished his position with FASD to pursue his passion for education as the Program Director of the Fire Training Center of St. Petersburg College. Angle can be credited for advancing FASDs use of technology and for being the driving force behind creating the CDM and CDO programs. In addition to FASD, CMC works for a number of associations and organizations both in Florida and around the country. CMC specializes in site selection and contract negotiation, conference and meeting planning, housing management and training. CMC officially took the position on January 1, 2014. ### For more information on the Florida Association of Special Districts, visit www.fasd.com.
