Glass Law Firm to merge with Gable Gotwals

Six members the Glass Law Firm and their staff of five will become part of the GableGotwals Law Firm effective Jan. 1, 2014. The Glass Law Firms founder, Robert Glass, began his legal career at GableGotwals in 1984. After working at firms in San Antonio and Tulsa, Glass founded his own firm in 2000. Now he is returning to the place where his legal career began and bringing with him a team of attorneys and other professionals to GableGotwals. Glass joins the GableGotwals firm as a shareholder. He has been included in the Best Lawyers in America in the areas of health care and bankruptcy each year since 2001. Additionally, he has been listed in Super Lawyers for his business litigation practice every year since 2006 and in Chambers for corporate and commercial law since 2011. Martindale-Hubbell has given Robert an AV rating. Glass received his law degree, as well as his undergraduate accounting degree, from the University of Texas. Philip D. Hixon joins GableGotwals as an of counsel attorney. He has more than a decade of litigation experience representing the interests of clients in a variety of legal matters including construction, environment, insurance and general litigation. Philip received his law degree summa cum laude and masters degree in business administration from Oklahoma City University. Hixon received his undergraduate degree in business administration from

Ellis also is in private HIXON practice with Ellis and Ellis based Stillwater, where she lives fulltime while commuting to Tulsa at least one day a week. She earned her law degree from the University of Oklahoma NELSON School of Law. She also holds a bachelors degree in accounting from Oklahoma State University. District court receives training grant

A two-year grant to fund Court Training and Improvements has been awarded to the Tulsa County District Court. The $300,000 grant will focus on developing effective responses to violence against women.

Kelly Greenough has been named project director. Greenough, who has a wide array of experience in both the public and private sectors, currently is employed in the Civil Division of the Tulsa County Public Defenders Office. Approximately 1,600 domestic assault and battery charges (7 percent of all criminal charges) were filed last

year in Tulsa County. Domestic assault and battery is ranked 3rd as the most often filed criminal charge. Additionally, 4,000 requests for protective orders were filed. The Courts goal is to improve court responses to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking.
