This specification covers the minimum technical requirements governing the design, manufacture, supply, testing, inspection, preparation for shipment & storage, and delivery to site of lighting material & associated accessories built in compliance with applicable standards, to be installed.

DESIGN CRITERIA
GENERAL RE UIREMENT a? !ll the luminaires covered herein shall be so designed and constructed that in normal use they function safely and cause no danger to person and surroundings. "n general compliance is chec/ed by carrying out all the tests specified. b? 6uminaires shall be so constructed that their live parts are not accessible when the luminaire has been installed and wired as in normal use and when it is in use it is opened as necessary for replacing lamps or starters, even if the operation cannot be achieved by hand. c? 6ighting fi4tures shall be so designed and manufactured that their performance is reliable, safe, suit the site conditions where they are to be used and efficient in operation. d? 6uminaires are classified according to the type of protection against electric shoc/, the degree of protection against ingress of dust, solid obEects and moisture, and the material of the supporting surface as per "'( -,7:8*0. e? !ll the light fittings shall be flameproof type and shall comply with the requirements of ")*++,and the design shall be such that all the parts have been properly assembled including the attachment of cables or conduit, the assembly shall be flameproof. f? The flameproof light fitting specified should be able to withstand, when the fitting is properly assembled, and internal e4plosion of the flammable gas or vapour which may enter or which may originate inside the enclosure without suffering damage and without communicating the internal inflammation to the e4ternal flammable gas or vapour, through any Eoint or other opening in the fitting. g? 6ighting fi4tures shall be of well glass type with integral control gear bo49 non*integral with separate control gear bo4, wire guard and suitable for suspended, brac/et, or pole. h? !ll equipment shall be suitable for use in outdoor open locations. i? Vendor shall submit technical data and luminous intensity distribution curves together with the technical response. E? Vendor shall guarantee and be totally responsible for all mechanical design and fabrications according to the attached specifications, drawings and applicable standards. /? !ny e4ceptions and deviations from the requirements the related specifications shall be clearly indicated in writing for the purchaserFs approval.

CONSTRUCTION a? Material& Magnesium (ontent in the alloy shall be as per ") 0223-. The enclosure for flameproof lighting fi4tures shall be of cast light metal alloy, chosen for its strength, resistance to corrosion by agents, such as water, corrosive gases or vapours that may be found near its location in use and lightness where this is possible to achieve without sacrificing strength and without giving rise to other haBards such as incendive frictional spar/ing. b? .ell 5lass& Three types of glasses Type !, Type G and Type ( are recogniBed for flameproof fittings as per ")&++,- standard with the requirements such as (omposition of 5lass 6ight transmission inish of surface =imensions

The 'nclosures shall be provided with gas/ets made of non*inflammable & self*e4tinguishing material. The enclosures shall be treated and prepared for painting with two coats of epo4y paint with final colour shade as )ilver grey shade -+8 >")*7?..ell glass lighting fi4ture for Hone*+ classified area shall meet requirement of ")& 18+,. Mechanical strength of well glass shall satisfy requirement of ")& ++,- >for type ! glass? for flame proof lighting fi4tures. !ll well glass fi4tures shall be provided with protective wire cage using minimum 7mm welded steel construction and having mesh dimensions not e4ceeding 7,mm41,mm. The material of the cage shall be galvaniBed steel or epo4y powder coated mild steel. c? ittings for use with cable& Provision for the attachment of cable shall be made in accordance with ")& +0389"'( -,,1:*0. d? Gallasts& !ll ballasts shall be low loss type with copper winding and power factor improvement capacitor. The lighting fi4tures in Hone*+9Hone*0 area, shall have approved enclosed brea/ lamp holder and complete enclosure certified as having restricted breathing type construction. The holder shall additionally have a spring*loaded loc/ to hold the lamp in position and prevent the lamp coming off loose in the holder. g? Terminal Gloc/s& The terminal bloc/s to which the supply cables are attached whether they form an addition to or are separate from the lamp holder shall be substantial and shall be either of the stud type of not less than M7 provided with two suitable clamping washers or of the pinching type. h? !ttachment of parts& $emovable screws or studs, that are those not permanently attached to the lighting fittings, which are used for attaching covers or component parts of the enclosure shall not pass through the wall of the enclosure. )crews or studs which are intended to be permanently attached to the lighting fitting, shall be securely welded or securely riveted or attached in any other equally effective manner. !ll nuts, bolts, washers etc used for attaching parts of the enclosures shall be made of stainless steel ))*2,3. The opening of the enclosure shall be possible only with special spanners and tools provided for the purpose. i? Iunction bo4es& The Eunction bo4es shall be flameproof construction suitable for Hone 0&+, gas group ""!9""G, temperature class T2. 'ach Eunction bo4 shall be complete with requisite number >2 Jos minimum? of cable entries and double compression flameproof nic/el plated brass cable glands to suit the specified cable siBe and flameproof sealing plugs. E? 6ighting poles& 6ighting poles shall be fabricated from M) steel tubular9octangular pipes with Eoints, swaged together when hot and bevelled on outside edges. 6ighting poles shall be hot dip galvanised with thic/ness of coating 1,m. Poles shall be coated with bituminous preservative solution on the ground portion of the outside surface. $emainder of the outside surface shall be given two coats of red o4ide primer and finished with two coats of aluminium paint.

The pole shall have flame proof type marshalling bo49Iunction bo4 near the bottom to contain M(G, a neutral lin/, and earth stud and terminal bloc/. 'ach pole shall have two distinct earthing points for connecting to the plant earth grid. /? Provision for reflectors& !ll lighting fi4tures shall be provided with suitable mirror*polished aluminium internal reflector of suitable thic/ness to ensure adequate mechanical strength. ".3 UALITY ASSURANCE a? The Vendor shall comply with ")K :,,0&+,,8 #uality !ssurance )ystem or may be appropriate to the type of contract and his product. b? "f the Vendor elects to sub*contract part of the wor/ he shall ensure that only those subcontractors or suppliers are used who can demonstrate that they operate #uality )ystems based on ")K :,,0 or ")K :,,+ as applicable. The vendor shall give his sub*contractors or suppliers assistance in attaining the required standard, if necessary. This shall not relieve the vendor of his responsibility for the quality of the finished wor/. Kwner reserves the right to audit the VendorFs #uality )ystem. c? The Vendor shall submit a ;#uality !ssurance Plan< for review within 2 wee/s from the date of Purchase Krder. ".4 INSPECTION AND TESTS a? The responsibility of inspection, certification, etc. of all materials, parts shall lie with the Vendor. b? The Vendor shall specify all inspection and testing requirements in the ;#uality !ssurance Plan< >#!P? which shall identify the activities requiring KwnerFs approval, review, witnessing etc. "n general #!P shall include all routine tests, special tests and type tests as per relevant ")9"'(. c? "nspection and testing requirements shall be in accordance with this specification and as per the requirements given in applicable codes and standards. d? !ll equipment shall be inspected for compliances with& $equirement of KwnerFs specification & correspondences thereafter !pplicable codes, standards and specifications, which shall also include sub*referenced standards therein. e? "nspectors have the right to request additional inspections or tests to ensure that the equipment complies with the specification and all relevant codes & standards. f? Vendor to furnish required copies of test certificates, reference documents, drawings, and instruction manuals before equipment and materials are dispatched. g? actory acceptance test > !T? is required to be done at no e4tra cost to Kwner. Kwner or his representative shall be advised of the tentative date for !T at least 2 wee/s in advance prior to the test date. V'J=K$ shall carry out all tests including but not limited to the following tests as per the relevant ")9"'( standards on each type of cable. These are intended to prove the general qualities and design of a given type of flameproof lighting fitting. PAC6AGING
The light fittings and accessories for installation shall be pac/ed in suitable wooden crates to prevent damage during transportation.

The )%PP6"'$ shall be solely responsible for the adequacy of the preparation for shipment provisions employed with respect to materials and their application to ensure that the cable reaches its destination in e4cellent wor/ing condition when handled by commercial carrier systems.

9.0

WARRANTY
'quipment shall be guaranteed to meet the specified performance at specified conditions in terms of power, thermal performance, design conditions etc. 'quipment and its components shall be guaranteed against faulty design, defective 9 improper materials poor wor/manship or failure from normal use during the guarantee period. Vendor shall ma/e all necessary and desirable alterations, repairs and replacement free of charge in the event of mal performance or defects occurring in the equipment during guarantee period.
