2013 Christmas Tea

On December 3rd, GCL hosted a Ladies Christmas Tea at which three women decided to put their hope in Christ and several others expressed interest in learning more about a relationship with Him. We are so excited! For several weeks before the Tea, I (Danica) was privileged to lead a team of primarily college women in planning every small detail. Pictured at top left are (from left to right) Mariam, Susette, Danica, Emily, and Shannon. Pictured top right is Mariam (a freshman at UF) with three ladies she invited to the tea. The evening included a litany of nicely dressed GCL men serving tasty finger foods (many of which were donated by GCLs community church members), lovely decorations, live music by some of our talented musicians, door prizes donated by generous local businesses, carols, and a dynamic guest speaker who drove in from Jacksonville to share the good news of Jesus Christ. This was such a wonderful opportunity for me and each of the other planners and participants to serve the body of Christ and the lost with our God given talents, and for me to build stronger, more influential friendships with younger women in our church.

Exciting things coming up in 2014!

Revealing our heart: Andrews love for worship

When youre 13 years old, a guitar looks a lot cooler than a piano. At least it did to me. I didnt learn how to play the guitar because I wanted to use it as an instrument of Praise, but God has claimed it for Himself and used the art of worship to redefine my life. Now, when I play my guitar I play for an audience of One. While I am extremely passionate about leading people in song my heart to worship Him goes far beyond the stage. Ive learned that to worship God, I am to be an obedient steward in all areas of my life, with or without the guitar. 1 Samuel 15:22 says to obey is better than sacrifice. Over and over again, scripture calls us to lift a joyful voice to the Lord. I have been humbled in learning that God delights in my leading people in song as much as He delights in my joyfully working hard to provide for my family. Both are sincere acts of worship when I do both with a heart of obedience to Him. I am excited about worshiping God, and encouraging others to delight in worship as well.
