Many have stated that it is impossible to know whether or not we are living in the last days before the second coming of Jesus Christ. However, below you will find dramatic proof that these are the endtimes. The proofs below defy coincidence.
Euphrates River to Be Dried Up
In Revelation 16:12, the Bible predicts that the Euphrates River will be dried up to prepare the way for the kings of the east to invade Israel. This will happen at the time of the battle of Armageddon according to verse 16 of the same chapter. The battle of Armageddon will be the final battle at which time Jesus will return and fight on the side of the nation of Israel. Immediately thereafter He will establish His kingdom and usher in His one thousand-year reign of peace. On January 13, 1990, the Indianapolis Star carried the headline Turkey Will Cut Off Flow of Euphrates for One Month. The article stated that a huge reservoir had been built by Turkey. While filling up the reservoir, the flow of the Euphrates would be stopped for one month and a concrete plug for a diversion channel built. These things have now been done. With this newly built dam, Turkey has the ability to stop the Euphrates River at will. The conditions for fulfilling this 1,900 year-old prophecy are now in place.
In Revelation 9:15-16, the Bible prophesies that an army of 200 million soldiers will launch a war which would kill the third part of men. Never in the history of the world until our present generation has there been a power on earth that could field 200 million soldiers. However, the late ruler of China, Mao Tse Tung boasted in his diary that he could field an army of 200 million. The CIA World Factbook reports that in the year 2001, it is estimated that China has 200,886,946 men of military age, and this number is growing by 10 million per year.

Worldwide Numbering System Predicted
In Revelation 13, the Bible prophesies that a world dictator will soon rule over a world government. He will cause all people in the earth to receive a number without which they will be unable to buy or sell. We are seeing this prophecy fulfilled before our eyes in a most astonishing way. Nearly every human being in the world now has been assigned a number. In America it is our Social Security number. In the past few years, we have seen this number extended to newborns. A child without a Social Security number cannot be declared as a dependent on an income tax return. We have seen the emergence of electronic money, shopping with credit cards, and many people urging the abolishment of cash. All of these things could not possibly have been fulfilled until this present time. Only after the invention of the computer could such a worldwide numbering system be administered.
Revelation 13:7 and Daniel 7:23 prophesy the establishment of a world government. The term New World Order has become a prevalent phrase in the worlds political culture. Mikhail Gorbachev made the term famous, and Pope John Paul II has referred to it repeatedly. In the September 12, 1990 issue of the Chicago Tribune, our former president George Bush said, Iraq is the first test for the New World Order. He emphatically stated that the Iraq War is Saddam Hussein against the world. The United Nations troops are continually referred to as the multi-national forces. The decision has been made to establish an interdependent community of nations that will rule the world under United Nations authority. The Bible says that this will lead us into a great world government. The formation of this government is at hand.

t is natural for prophecy students, such as ourselves, to hang onto every word of every report coming out of the Middle East these days. After all, there is a significant chance that the Roadmap for Peace may result in the Confirmation of the Covenant, which begins the final seven years to Armageddon. Because the last few issues of ENDTIME have focused very heavily on the Roadmap, several other issues of major prophetic importance have unfortunately taken a back seat. This edition will focus on some of those 'neglected' areas. After considering titles such as The Dark Day of the Gay Bishop and The Fall of the Episcopal Church, we finally settled on Time to Embrace Homosexuality? as this issue's cover story. How far removed from God does a person have to be in order to remain complacent while his church elects a homosexual to the level of bishop? Its a question that screams to be answered because that day has arrived. Is the mark of the beast far off? A better question might be, how far away are we from a time when every financial aspect of our lives will be so controlled that a person will not be able to buy or sell unless he submits to the global economic rules. Privacy expert Richard Hunter explains about this emerging system in the article entitled World Without Secrets.
Not to be ignored are events still brewing in Iran, North Korea, China and Taiwan. Consider that within the last month it has come to light that Iran may have been enriching plutonium for the manufacture of nuclear weapons; that they now have a missile that can reach Tel Aviv; and a colossal untapped oil reserve (38 billion barrels) has been discovered in its territory. This all makes Iran a ripe target for (what the world community would call) U.S. aggression. In North Korea everyone is talking war. And China? Taiwan is considering an independence referendum! This and more is covered in World Review. Regarding events in Israel, you will get to focus on a different aspect of the Roadmap. There is a prophecy that the Antichrist will set up his headquarters in the city where God chose to place His nameJerusalem. WHAT IS ENDTIME MAGAZINE?

In 1968, Irvin Baxter Jr. discovered the United States and other modern nations in the Bible. He also found the Berlin Wall in the Bible and that one day it was to be torn down, reuniting Germany, and that event would be the catalyst to spark an international movement called the New World Order. These things have now come to pass. Irvin Baxter Jr., a Pentecostal minister, began ENDTIME MINISTRIES in 1986 when he wrote A Message For The President, a book explaining the major prophecies of the Bible which he had been teaching since 1968. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, prophetic fulfillment accelerated rapidly. The decision was made to launch ENDTIME. given. For example, the just-elected Bishop within the Episcopalian church, Gene Robinson, spoke so eloquently about the 'sacred' nature of the love he had for his 'partner'. I guess God has been showing me that these people are able to so beautifully and eloquently defend themselves because, in their own minds, they have created beautiful rationalizations for the way they feel and act. A lot of them know the scriptures, but lacking conviction, they rationalize them away as 'misinterpretations'. Once we depart from biblical standards of morality, we're dependent on the self-justification of the human mind. Now I know why the Bible says there is a way that seems right to a man but the end thereof is the way of death. That individuals would eloquently justify their choices shows me that the human mind is capable of rationalizing untold depths of evil and sin. As the church opens the door to one form of sexual sin through human rationalization, other rational-lies will follow. D. Tope
Confirming the Biblical Borders

You mentioned that you believe the confirmation of the covenant refers to God's promise to Abraham concerning the land of Israel, and that the current peace plan could turn out to be that confirmation. But the Roadmap is not designed to confirm all of the land that God promised to Abraham, only part of it. Part will be going to the Palestinians. Jay M.
REPLY You are right that the Roadmap for Peace does not assign all of the biblical Promise Land to Israel. However, it does confirm Israels right to exist on Promise Land territory. Even this is of some comfort to the Israelis, when those all around them want to drive them into the sea. I dont think that we can expect the Antichrist to confirm Israels right to all the land when his ultimate goal will be the destruction of Israel as a nation.
Lottery vs. Stock Market

Most Christians are against the lottery. I voted against it. But you never hear anyone say anything about the stock market. Is this not just as much of a gamble as the lottery? If we are honest with ourselves, it is probably more of a gamble. We know that eventually it is going to crash. Mike
REPLY An investment in the stock market, properly researched, is like any other business investment. You are buying part of a company. Is this investment without risk? No. There is no business investment that is without risk. Jesus taught the virtue of risk in the parable of the talents. The man who was given one talent was afraid and took no risk. The Lord said to him, Bind this wicked and slothful servant and cast him into outer darkness. Playing the lottery, on the other hand, is strictly a game of chance.
Apostasia: The Falling Away

In II Thessalonians 2 it refers to a falling away. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition. What is this? David
REPLY The word that was translated falling away is the Greek word apostasia, which is apostasy; backsliding. This was written in the first century. After the death of the Apostle Paul, the world entered into a 1,000-year period known in history books as the Dark Ages. During this time, the church, in general, went into spiritual darkness. The established church at Rome made it illegal to even own a Bible. I believe the period called the Dark Ages was the falling away.

(restraineth) will let (restrain), until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: The word withholdeth in verse six and the word letteth in verse seven were both translated from the exact same Greek wordkatecho. The word means restrains. Verses seven and eight are saying that there is a force that restrains the revealing of the Antichrist. Verse six tells us what that force is. It states: And now ye know what withholdeth (restraineth) that he might be revealed in his time. The only reason the Antichrist has not yet been revealed is because it hasnt been time yet. But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, The same is to be true of the revealing of the Antichrist. Elect in Heaven or Earth

In Matthew 24:31, Jesus said that God would send His angels to gather the elect from one end of heaven to the other. If this is the rapture, then why are the elect in heaven before they are gathered? How can we be in heaven and be on earth at the same time? DLS
REPLY The Apostle Paul taught that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. He said that he was in a great dilemma because he wanted to die to be with Christ, but he knew the church needed him to stay on earth to teach them. This plainly teaches that a saved person goes immediately into the presence of the Lord when he dies. Yet we know that the body designed for eternity is not resurrected until the time of the rapture. The Apostle Paul is in the presence of the Lord right now, but he has not yet received his immortal body designed for eternity. That happens at the rapture.

ohn wrote in Revelation 18:4: Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. At no time in history could this advice be more appropriate and more apparent for every member of the Episcopal Church than it is today. The church has approved Gene Robinson, an openly homosexual minister, to be bishop over its New Hampshire diocese. The controversial voting process received international attention. Interestingly, even in this day of interfaithism which says that there are many valid pathways to God, the issue was so black and white that even the most liberal news-oriented programs entered into the moral debate. No one can argue whether or not the Biblethe Bible used by all Christians including

the Episcopals, forbids active homosexual activity. Not surprisingly though, whether or not the Bible is the Word of God and whether or not it should be followed became their debate. And their conclusions are obvious. The Episcopal Church Publishing Co., the organization that publishes The Witness issued the following statement: We also rejoice that a barrier of sexual orientation has been crossed in our church: the election to the episcopacy of an openly gay person living in a committed relationship.
I feel like God is doing a new thing in the world, said Robinson. I believe something is happening in the church.
For certain a new thing is happening in the church. But be not deceived. It is not Gods doing. Will the Episcopal Church split? It should. But the more salient question might be when did the church really fall? Was it the day Robinson was elected? Or was that simply the day when their unrepentant compromises of many years hit new heights? A few incidents over the last few years have come to light. First they ordained homosexual pastors. Then they began paying spousal benefits to the live-in lovers of those ministers. Next, a male minister took a leave of absence to undergo a sex change operation and resumed his ministry as a female. Why should a gay bishop overseeing an entire region be an issue? Following Robinsons election, the Episcopal Church adopted a measure that allows for recognition of rights for

Malachi 3:6 says, For I am the LORD, I change not The fall of a church does not necessarily start when it openly condones homosexuality. Sometimes it starts with pastors turning their heads when church members commit fornication; when board members carry on adulterous affairs. If you can overlook fornication and adultery, then it doesnt take much inner fortitude to wink at homosexuality. The fall has already taken place. you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? This is echoed in Ephesians 5:3: But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints. The Apostle Paul, wrote to the church in Corinth: Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. (I Corinthians 7:2-3) Paul is saying that if you engage in sex outside of marriage, the result will be eternal damnation. Paul is speaking of unrepentant sin. There are those who have had sex outside of marriage, and once they understood that it was wrong, vowed never to do it again. It caused them to repent and turn to God. Once a person understands what God expects and feels that conviction in their heart, the desire to please God will be stronger, and the person will act accordingly. However, the Church of England, called Episcopal in the U.S., is talking about putting a blanket of justification over this sin.

In an attempt to pacify both sides of the issue, the practice of performing same-sex unions has been left to the discretion of individual parishes. The Bible is crystal clear in its stance against homosexuality. All one has to do is go straight to Leviticus 18:22. Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. In the Old Testament, the punishment was death. The New Testament also condemned it. I Corinthians 6:9 says, Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. If God is doing a new thing in His church, He is doing something that violates every principle of His own scripture. The Bible says in Hebrews 13:8: Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever. In the Old Testament,

Another popular teaching says that Christians believing themselves to be spiritually married to each other are able to enjoy a physical relationship outside of marriage. The term being spiritually married to each other is being used over and over again. In truth, these people are simply overcome by lust, mutually agreeing together and praying for the Lord to recognize their marriage before hopping into bed. It is nothing more than a lack of total commitment to the other person. Unless they obey the laws of the land and are officially married, God will not recognize such a spiritual marriage. Remember I Corinthians 7:9. The Bible tells us that marriage is sacred, and that we should abstain from sexual intimacy until the time of marriage. If two people are living together outside of marriage, and are not ready to make a total commitment, they are not ready for a sexual commitment. Ultimately, this tests your commitment to God and to the person with whom you are involved. If sex is not a factor in the relationship, you can truly determine if this is the person with whom you want to spend the rest of your life. It is important in a practical sense when trying to avoid the emotional entanglements that come with a physical relationship. The approach may seem a bit unrealistic until you realize that not only can it be done, but its a better way to do it. God did not give us these guidelines to deprive us but to protect us. The same fence that keeps us within certain guidelines also keeps danger out. Thats what marriage is about. God understood that if we involve ourselves in intimacy outside of marriage we will be hurt by sexually transmitted diseases, produce illegitimate children who will grow up without one or both parents, and create unsanctioned situations. The damage caused by our present immorality knows no end. But theres something marvelous about seeing a man and a woman walking down the street with their children. They are shouldering their responsibilities. The children live in safety. By observing Gods laws and His ways, we can be spared much pain.

Religion of the False Prophet

he Bible prophesies concerning a global religious system that all will be forced to conform to during the endtime. This global religion will be led by the religious partner of the Antichristthe man the Bible calls the False Prophet. Fifty years ago, the possibility of a global religious system that all people could agree on seemed totally impossible. We had Baptists, Catholics, Lutherans, Pentecostals, Nazarenes and on and on. Add to that Muslims, Jews, Christians, Buddhists, Zoroastrians and thousands of other religionswell it would just never happen. How could it happen? Then Pope John XXIII burst upon the world scene. He surprised everyone by calling Vatican Council II. The stated purpose was to let some fresh air into the Roman Catholic Church. Many Protestant leaders were invited to attend this ecumenical council. This was done in hopes of wooing Protestants back home to Mother. The Ecumenical movement was off to the races. Soon the Catholic Church made the announcement that Protestants, who
had been baptized using the Mother churchs formula, could become members of the Catholic Church without rebaptism. Ecumenical services soon became commonplace. Lutherans, Catholics and even Jews began to share pulpits. The oil that greased this new ecumenical movement was compromise. Long cherished beliefs were suddenly cast aside as unneeded baggage. Teachings that previous generations had died for were now roadblocks to unity. Step by step, truth was discarded in the name of Christian unity. By the 1990s, compromise was so rampant that most Christians had boiled their belief system down to one simple creed: Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be savedplus nothing, minus nothing. Doctrines of baptism, holiness, prayer to Mary, and statues were all considered unimportant. Unity must be embraced at all costs. In March of 1994, a document of Evangelical-Catholic Unity was signed. Major personalities signing the document included Pat Robertson, Bill Bright, and Chuck Colson. In June of the same year, the Southern Baptist
National Convention, Americas largest Protestant denomination, voted overwhelmingly to endorse a declaration of unity with Catholics despite theological differences. The report in the June 17, 1994 edition of the Indianapolis Star said, In a major step toward ecumenism, the Southern Baptist Convention said born-again believers may be found in all Christian denominations, and endorsed Baptist-Catholic dialogue. By the mid-1990s, most of Christendom was considered pretty much united.
Time for Phase II

The theory goes that religious conflict is the number one cause of war on earth. In this era of weapons of mass destruction, mankind can no longer afford to tolerate the religious intolerance that has plunged the human race into war time and time again. Somehow mankind must discover commonly held spiritual values that can unite us rather than focus on our differences. In 1993, a most unusual conference took place. It was called the Parliament of the Worlds Religions. Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Bahais, Zorastrians, and

might seem off topic. Its not. The book of Revelation speaks extensively about spiritual whoredom. Here spiritual whoredom has manifested itself in the physical. Someone who is having sex outside of marriage is not in a saved condition. They need to repent and get married. If not, they need to separate. Its that serious. As for ordaining gay bishops, men must totally denounce Gods Word in order to justify this depravity and perversion. If the preachers and the ministers of the world do not tell this truth to their
congregations, people will slide into feeling comfortable in their sin. Worse yet, many congregations today teach that unrepentant sin is covered by gracegrace that has been turned into lasciviousness. No! Congregations need to be told that they are transgressing the law of God! The truth of the Bible is at stake here. If we embrace a position that is contrary to scripture, we are saying the Bible is irrelevant! Many worry about the church becoming irrelevant to an immoral world. However, through the years, most of
Christendom has traveled far away from the Bible. Many of our practices are no longer biblical. Major teachings of the Bible have been ignored. The only hope for Christianity is a return to Bible-based religion. The time has come for preachers to be powerful enough in the pulpit to help people become conformed to Jesus Christ. Matthew 24:24 warns us that in the latter days there shall arise false prophets. If it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Today this scripture is fulfilled in your ears. e
Wiccans, just to mention a few, came together in an attempt to discover commonly held spiritual values. A document was produced out of the Parliament of the Worlds Religions called The Global Ethic. The essence of the Global Ethic can be captured in the following three quotes in the document: We affirm that a common set of core values is found in the teachings of the religions, and that these form the basis of a global ethic. There already exist ancient guidelines for human behavior which are found in the teachings of the religions of the world and which are the condition for a sustainable world order. We must sink our narrow differences for the cause of the world community, practicing a culture of solidarity and relatedness. The effort to forge an all-embracing global spirituality was born. This new movement became known as Interfaithism. Soon the creeds of Interfaithism took shape. Most religions claim to believe in one god. We are all really worshipping the same god, no matter what we call him,... the theory goes. Some call him Jehovah, some Allah, some Brahma, some Jesus and some Baal. But we are all still worshipping the same God. To contend that one religion was true and all others were false was now the height of religious pride and bigotry. After all, who could possibly claim to have an exclusive on truth? And to quote one famous biblical personage, What is truthanyway? The first new Roman Catholic Cate-
chism in 400 years was published in 1994. It reflected this new Interfaith thinking. Concerning Muslims it said, The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankinds judge on the last day. You heard right. The plan of salvation includes the Muslims. Do they believe Jesus was the Messiah? No! Do they believe He died on the cross for our sins? No! Whatever happened to Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved? Other Christian denominations began to fall right in line. Soon it became apparent that the art of compromise had been so perfected during the Ecumenical movement of the late 20th Century that the Christian movement as a whole had no trouble believing that people might be saved without belief in Jesus as Lord and Savior. On June 26, 2000, religious leaders gathered at Carnegie Melon University in Pittsburgh to sign the charter of the United Religions Organization. This date was chosen because exactly 55 years before the constitution of the United Nations Organization was signed. The religious leaders envisioned the United Religions bringing the worlds religions together like the United Nations had unified the governments of the world into the International Community. When terrorists attacked the World
Trade Center on 9/11, globalists were in a panic to preserve the religious solidarity they had so meticulously fostered over the last fifty years. Soon the talk shows were flooded with apologists for the Muslim religion, explaining why it was a religion of peace. President Bush said that Islam was a great faith that should be respected. Muslims were even invited to the Whitehouse for dinner with President Bush to celebrate Ramadan. The message came through loud and clear. Since there is no such thing as absolute truth, all people should give respect to all belief systems. The world is simply too dangerous of a place for us to tolerate the religious bigots with radical creeds such as: You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Or, though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. There is simply no room for such narrow minded fundamentalists in the house of our New World Order. Well there you have it! Interfaithism in all of its glory! Im okay, youre okay. Your truth may not be my truth. But I expect you to respect my belief system, and I will respect yours as long as it doesnt say mine is wrong. Behind all of this is Satans plan to bring the human race under his control via a one-world government. Out of all the global confusion of Mystery Babylon, I still hear a voice from the darkness saying, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom e of God.

Playing Both Sides

For decades, the United States has been deeply involved in what has been termed the Atlantic Partnership an alliance between European and North American nations most often thought of in terms of NATO. But not all is what it seems. Speaking on the tensions between U.S. power brokers and the planned amalgamation of Europe, Brzezinski elaborated, [Support for European unification] has been the established rhetoric on the subject. But in practice, the United States has been less clear and less consistent. Does Washington truly desire a Europe that is a genuinely equal partners in world affiars, or does it prefer an unequal alliance? For example, is the United States prepared to share leadership with Europe in the Middle East, a region not only much closer geographically to Europe than to America but also one in which several European states have long-standing interests? The issue of Israel instantly comes to mind. U.S-Euopean differences over Iran and Iraq have also been treated by the United States not as an issue between equals but as a matter of insubordination. [p.48] Insubordination?! This suggests that American powers have viewed Europe as subservient to U.S. interests. Europe, however, is currently re-wiring itself to emerge as a new global player. Giscard dEstaing, the chairman of the Convention on the Future of Europe, recently explained that the EU of the future will be viewed both as an economically dominant force and as a political power which will talk on equal terms to the greatest powers on our planet,

scenario? In a speech to the Spanish government on April 14, 2002, Javad Yarjani, head of OPECs Market Analysis Department, clearly expressed an interest in this possibility. Furthermore, Yarjani noted that the new Euro-zone now imports more oil than the U.S., making this transition more alluring yet. Granted, there are many complex factors that need to be overcome before any switch occurs, but the fact that its being contemplated is unnerving to U.S. interests. Ironically, the first and only OPEC nation to successfully adopt the Euro over the dollar was Iraq. In November 2000, the Iraqi government managed to have the United Nations oil-for-food program converted from U.S. dollars to Euros. And while the Saddam regime had practically no real clout within OPEC, this turn-over demonstrated a vulnerable chink within the American armor. Since then, Iran which is a strong OPEC leader has shown a real interest in the Euro. In fact, the European Union has been economically courting Iran, and is now its largest trading partner. Venezuela, the current head of OPEC, has likewise recognized Europe as a new U.S. counterbalance. And the Gulf Cooperation Council, a grouping of OPEC and non-OPEC Arab nations including Saudi Arabia has agreed to strengthen economic and petroleum ties to the European Union.
With all this in mind, what countermoves can the U.S. make? And what role can the international community play?
Looking For Checkmate

The U.S. has a couple of options to counter Europes growing power. The first is to physically wrestle control of major Middle East oil supplies, not because of Americas need for petroleum per se, but because Europe is dependent on the region to fuel its energy needs. Hence, whoever controls the regions oil wields an incredible leveraging tool. Contrary to what many may think, this is not a far-off scenario. During the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s, the Reagan administration had circulated a memorandum stating that U.S. military involvement was legitimate if the regions oil sources and shipping points were threatened. Furthermore, a 1998 U.S. Army War College strategy paper explained, As the competition for resources and regional dominance intensi-
fies, hegemons [dominant military/political powers] will likely develop where the intersection of sociopolitical zones collide. Since these regional fault lines contain abundant natural resources, particularly petroleum, these economic attributes will continue to capture the interest of the United States and other advanced countries. Between now and 2025, it is reasonable to assume that if an aspiring regional hegemon emerges to threaten either our interests or the interests of our friends and allies, conflict will likely occur. This shouldnt be a surprise. Military forces are often used as a political and economic tool. In 1997, the U.S. General Accounting Office reported that military special forces are trained in achieving political, economic, or psychological objectives by unconventional means. Even Canadas small but professional JTF-2 unit, a quasi-secretive military special forces group, is geared

towards maintaining national economic interests. Of course, using the military in this manner is fraught with complications. Its a chess-move that carries a tremendous amount of risk, danger and death. The second U.S. option in countering Europe is to create the Free Trade Area of the Americas. The FTAA, if carried through, would economically integrate North and South America into one colossal trading block. President George Bush, while speaking at the Quebec Summit of the Americas, openly suggested that we combine in a common market so we can compete in the long-term with the Far East and Europe. At this point, the FTAA common market is scheduled to come into play by December 2005. Ironically, this is exactly what Europe did as a first step towards political integration. Elements within the international community see a different option; some
suggest that the only way to control regional and national rivalries is to create a global management authority, either through the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, the World Bank, or the International Monetary Fund or possibly through some type of shared arrangement. Incidentally, the IMF held a forum on November 8, 2000 entitled One World, One Currency. Taking this third option a step further, a document was circulated during the year 2000 State of the World Forum by one of the invited participants. Entitled Transformation of the World, this report examines current world problems and makes a startling suggestion, Small doubt, that the world does need a civilized coordinator in international relations and in settling global problems. More than that, this coordinator must be a stabilizing factor, actually, the last
ditch authority on Earth. He must win confidence of each man and each nation. People must be stark sure that this coordinator would solve any problem in a just and humane way. And one should be sure that in him he would find understanding and sympathy, that he would treat nations as his own soncan the world community do without a coordinator? Definitely cannot. Clearly, the world waits for an ultimate human chess-master to e bring the game into check.

ENDTIME recently interviewed Richard Hunter, Vice President of Security Research for the strategic business growth division of Gartner, Inc., the worlds largest technology research firm. He is internationally renowned for his expertise on security, criminology and technology, cyber-terrorism, and privacy, and has written the book World Without Secrets. The following are excerpts from that interview.

t Gartner, we cover technology and try to focus on where we think technology is going, rather than where we would like to go. A couple of years ago, I became aware that with the confluence of very powerful computers and wireless technologies, we were entering a world where everything and anything that is recorded is available to anyone who wants it badly enough. We have global positioning systems in cars, nanny cameras at home, and email monitoring at work. We create enormous streams of transactions with our debit and credit cards that tell a great deal about us to anyone with access to that information. There are a few major technologies that are bringing us into this world without secrets. The first of these is data mining, which is massive statistical analysis of information. An example is John Poindexters Total Information Awareness Program (TIA). The second major technology is high bandwidth wireless communications in the half-to-two gigabyte per second range. Well be seeing that within the next few years. The third technology is embedded computers and smart machines. These are very small, powerful machines that record audio and video, and transmit it
to other devices using high bandwidth wireless communications. The last piece of this, which we probably wont see until the end of the decade, is natural language and semantic analysis. This will allow a computer not just to record speech, but to understand whats being said in ways similar to how a human being understands it. So, by the end of this decade, well be in an environment where a tremendous amount of information is being recorded by very small, powerful devices that are everywhere. Thats a world without secrets, and Im not comfortable with certain aspects of this.
are already here in force. They will only get stronger over the next few years, because every few years, technology gets much faster, smaller and smarter. Its the pattern. In political terms, were not in a police state yet, and the Senate has just voted unanimously to terminate funding for the TIA Program. But it will take a lot of vigilance on the part of everyone to make sure that we dont get there.
Global tracking
There is a law being proposed to require global positioning ability in all cell phones. This is a good example of trading off privacy for convenience and supposed safety. Although were likely to see this regulation being passed, it has not been implemented yet. In fact, in many parts of the country, including New York City, the supporting infrastructure isnt in place. Even if you had a cell phone with those capabilities, at the moment the police would not be able to track your location.
Orwells world
This is not the totalitarian nightmare that George Orwell described in his book 1984, because in Orwells world, governments had all the technology. But in the world that were heading into, you, me, corporations, governmentseverybody has the same technology. It is different than Orwells world, but no less dangerous. Beyond that, I am concerned about the ability of individuals, governments and corporations to monitor each other closely. When youre in a place where everyone is under surveillance you end up in a world thats a lot safer. However, by definition, youre in a police state. The technologies that would be required to create such a state
National vs. International I.D.

We ran a survey last year in which we analyzed a statistically valid sample of the American public, asking them about their attitudes towards National I.D.s. The results were very interesting. Sixty-six percent of the public was
strongly in favor of a National I.D. with very limited uses, such as gaining entry to U.S. borders, or allowing the holder to get on an airplane without a hassle. The reality is, however, that anyone who has a credit or debit card in their pocket already has an International I.D. The card is international in nature, and identifies you and your purchases anywhere in the world. Information is piling up about you every time you use that card, and it can be used to tell someone nearly everything else they want to know about you. Most Americans already have one as do people in other countries.
Thats an example of a malignant Network Army. But there are other armies that most people would think were good. One example is the army that began as an Internet mailing list aimed at bringing democracy to the dictatorship in Burma. Another is an army of lay people springing up within the Catholic Church who call themselves, The Voice of the Faithful. They are working internationally to bring reform to the Catholic Church and to end the abuses that have become all too familiar.

Network Armies
I coined a term, Network Army. It is a collection of individuals or communities (from different walks of life), but who align on a common agenda. In the U.S., the movement to protect privacy is an example of that kind of Network Army. From the political spectrum, there are people from all over who are focusing on this issue. Such groups may wield a lot of power. Network Armies are linked by ideas and values. They are not confined by geography, they are often explicitly international, and they deal with international issues. They use the Internet and other public communications mechanisms to communicate. Theyve been helped by the rise of English as an international language in the last decade. The most interesting thing about Network Armies is that they dont have formal leadership the way a corporation or a government does. They have moral or intellectual influencers, but nobody is giving or taking orders, per se. They look like a bunch of rabble without a leader, but, in fact, if you oppose a Network Army youve got a real fight on your hands. For example, were up against Al Qaeda which is a Network Army. They have a core group with formal leadership, but many people in that organization operate under their own authority to carry out the shared goals of that organization. The bombings in Bali were carried out by a collection of folks who are not formally associated with Al Qaeda, but share Al Qaedas values and beliefs and want to act alongside them in carrying out their agenda.
More security, more surveillance

The need for more security and more surveillance is being driven by the demand for security against terrorists. Terrorists are everywhere and nowhere, and difficult to distinguish from ordinary citizens. There are many biometric identifiers, like fingerprints, voice recognition, facial geometry recognition, or DNA recognition, which wouldnt require a chip to be present on a person. They simply require some mechanism to take the biometric reading, and compare that to a database such as the one in Ybor City that contains facial scans for 10,000 wanted felons, sexual predators and runaway minors. I would say that were likely to see more biometric identifiers of that sort. Were as likely to see them from commercial entities as from governments. Everybody has this technology. What is privacy?
I do not think we should get over having zero privacy as Scott McNealy, CEO of Sun Microsystems, suggests. However, I do think that the idea of what privacy is, is changing pretty drastically. In 1898, Louis Brandeis and Samuel Warren defined privacy as the right to be left alone. I very much doubt that privacy in that sense will exist in many places within the next few years. I think that the clearest sign so far is the definition of privacy thats been adopted by the European Union in their Data Protection Directives. Basically, these directives say that the individual who is described by a set of information has the right to specify who can use that information, under what circumstances it can be used, and what it can be used for.

That requires businesses to notify their customers whenever someone gains unauthorized access to an unencrypted database. You can go to the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation), www.eff.org, and you can subscribe to Internet mailing lists that will keep you apprised of whats going on regarding privacy. In other words, you can get involved and make your e voice known.

Transfer United Nations HQ to Jerusalem

he main barrier to finding a definitive solution to the [Israeli-Arab] conflict [is] the question of Jerusalem. For Israel, Jerusalem should be under Israeli sovereignty. For the Palestinians, it should be the future capital of the Palestinian state. These two antagonistic visions regarding the future of Jerusalem obviously do not allow for an early solution to the conflict However, in the last 50 years there has never been so much good will on the part of the key parties: the Arabs, Israel and the United States. President Bill Clinton made it a personal goal to find an amicable solution to the conflict. The internationalization of the city of Jerusalem is the only way to establish a just and durable peace between the Israelis and Palestinians.
This idea has been supported by the Vatican and recently the mayor of Jerusalem himself, who has expressed his wish for a divine sovereignty to reign over the city. The religious dimension of Jerusalem, a center of Judaism, Christianity and Islam, brings complications to the possibility of finding a political solution to the crisis. Given these complexities, we suggest that the problems of Jerusalem and the wider Arab-Israeli conflict can best be addressed if the headquarters of the United Nations is transferred from New York City to Jerusalem so that Jerusalem becomes a true city of Nations. The fragile states of the region, such as Israel, Palestine and the Gulf countries, would feel reinforced and protected against possible threats from aggressive neighboring countries, such as Iraq and Iran; 3. The UN would gain in symbolic power and would be ideally positioned to take a true measure of the conflicts that are troubling today's world. Increasingly, conflicts in the world are no longer purely political. Most are loaded with powerful spiritual factors (e.g. Catholic-Protestant rivalry in Northern Ireland, MuslimHindu rivalry in Kashmir, Christian-Muslim rivalry in Chechnya and Kosovo). If the UN wants to acquire the means to bring true solutions to all these conflicts, it must take these spiritual factors into serious consideration during its policyformation and decision-making. Headquartered in Jerusalem, the UN would acquire the necessary legitimacy and authority to renew its image. It could again become the indispensable international organization without which world conflicts could not be resolved. Given the importance of every square foot in Jerusalem, the location and security of the UN headquarters would have to be studied, as would the accommodation and security of its 10,000 employees. And given the urgency of the situation this proposal would have to be strongly and swiftly supported by all persons and organizations who want a just and rapid solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict, in particular Israel, Palestine, all Arab and Muslim countries, the Vatican, the European Union and the United Nations. Making Jerusalem home to the UN headquarters means turning the holy city into an international political and spiritual center from which peace will shine e across the entire world.
Confirmation of the Covenant How Will We Recognize It?

he confirmation of the covenant marks the beginning of the final seven years to Armageddon. But what will this event called the confirmation of the covenant be? How will it be recognized? The prophecy of Daniel 9:27 states that he will confirm the covenant with many for a week of years (seven years). It also states that, in the middle of the seven years, he will cause the sacrifice to cease, and he will place the abomination of desolation. If we can know who he is, and what causing the sacrifice to cease means, and understand what the abomination of desolation will be, then we can understand the confirmation of the covenant.

What is the abomination of desolation?

In Matthew 24:15, Jesus said that the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel would stand in the holy place. The holy place is located in the temple. II Thessalonians 2:3-4 gives the most detailed description of the abomination of desolation. It states that the man of sin (the Antichrist) will exalt himself above all that is called God, and will sit in the temple, claiming to actually be God. It should be noted that the abomination of desolation marks the beginning of the final three and one-half year period called the great tribulation (Matthew 24:15-21). Theres one more important insight that we gain from the discourse of Jesus in Matthew 24. In verse 16, we are told that the area of Judea will be the location of horrible slaughter immediately following the abomination of desolation. This is important because the area of Judea is the area in Israel called the West Bank or the occupied territories. Other than the Temple Mount itself, the area of Judea is the most hotly contested territory in the Middle East conflict.

It will be very similar to what is happening rightnow with the presentation of the Roadmap for Peace to Israelis and Palestinians by the e international community.
Who is he?
It is very clear in Daniel 9:27 that the same he that confirms the covenant, also causes the sacrifice to cease and places the abomination that makes desolate. If we can discover who causes the sacrifice to cease, and who places the abomination of desolation, we can know for certain who confirms the covenant. In Daniel 11:30-32, the Antichrist is described as having indignation against the holy covenant. In verse 31, it tells us that the Antichrist and his followers, shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate. The he that confirms the covenant is the Antichrist.
What will the confirmation of the covenant be?

So what is this event called the confirmation of the covenant? It apparently will affect the status of the Temple Mount since a temple will be completed and in use within three and onehalf years after the confirmation. It also pertains to the status of the land of Israel. We know this because the area of Judea will be the center of great conflict during the final seven years. Is there a covenant in the Bible that deals with the status of the Holy Land and the status of Jerusalem? Absolutely! Stopping the sacrifices

The Jewish people have not offered sacrifices since the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 AD. They believe they must have a temple in order to sacrifice. Revelation 11:1-2 teaches that a temple will stand on the Temple Mount at least 42 months before Armageddon. Once the Third Temple is completed, sacrifices will be resumed. This will trigger worldwide opposition to this daily slaughter of animals. Consequently, the Antichrist will

An estimated 500,000 people participated in protesting against a proposed national security law in Hong Kong that would criminalize the disclosure of protected information and state secrets, allow the government to ban local branches of groups labeled subversive by the mainland and give police the right to search people's homes without a warrant. Hong Kong leader Tung Chee-hwa withdrew the proposal, a victory for now. But Taiwan has taken notice. We have never harbored any illusions about 'one country, two systems', commented cabinet spokesman, Lin Chia-lung. The recent development in Hong Kong shows the entire world 'one country, two systems' doesn't work in Hong Kong and won't work in Taiwan. It's a total failure. China has tried to woo Taiwan into reunifying under the one country, two systems formula, but the island's leaders have rejected such an offer from the beginning. mainland; only the U.S. promise to defend Taiwan in the event of such an invasion has kept Beijing at bay to this point. More than 50% of the crimes were perpetrated by friends, colleagues and relatives. An extremely significant security breach occurred during the first week of August, when, according to SecurityNewsPortal, an attacker gained access to one of the world's largest consumer databases at Acxiom Corp. in Little Rock and was able to download customer information that could have included clients of Microsoft Corp, IBM, Sears Roebuck, AT&T, General Electric and Bank of America.

After 34 months of being closed to all non-Muslims, the Temple Mount was finally reopened to Jewish and Christian visitors in June, but only for what turned out to be a short time. It was closed again in late July amidst concerns of renewed

Palestinian violence. On August 11, Internal Security Minister, Tzhai Hanegbi announced that the site would be reopened to all visitors with or without the agreement of the Wakf, the Islamic agency that administers the Temple Mount. He hoped that the Wakf would agree, but if not, Israel would unilaterally open it restoring the status quo that had been in place since the 1967 Six-Day War. The Temple Mount had been closed since the outbreak of violence on September 28, 2000. After being reopened in June, it was closed again in the wake of a flurry of criticism led by Yasser Arafat, who warned of grave consequences if Israel continues to allow Jews to visit the Temple Mount. Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas called the partial reopening of the site provocative. Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupolianski said that he disagreed with letting Jews onto the Temple Mount for fear of accidentally stepping on the site of the Holy of Holies from the Jewish Temple that stood there until the Romans destroyed it in 70 AD. A group of Israeli Knesset members attempted to ascend the Mount on August 4, Tisha Beav, the Jewish holy day that commemorates the destruction of the two ancient Jewish temples. The legislators were removed from the site because, according to Jerusalem police chief Mickey Levy, There was an almost certain danger that violence would break out. In a Tisha Beav interview with the Jerusalem Post, Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz noted that Jews haven't been allowed to pray on the Temple Mount for almost three years except for a couple of weeks this past month. The suggestion of allowing Jewish people the right to pray on these 35 most disputed acres on the planet, along with the unilateral decision to open the Mount back up to all religions, are signs that the construction of a Jewish house of prayer on the Temple Mount may not be too far off. I think the issue of the Temple Mount is very sensitive, said Mofaz, especially now that we are involved in a diplomatic process with the Palestinians... We just have to enforce our sovereignty in a proper, measured way. The way to do this is by acting in a non-provocative way. But I believe that the issue of the Temple Mount is felt very deeply in the hearts of the citizens of Israel. Jesus ascended into the clouds, and Hes coming back the same way. In other words, He will descend from heaven coming out of the clouds. As the church is raptured (caught up), we will ascend as Jesus did, and He will meet us in the clouds. I Thessalonians 4:16-17 says it this way: For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with

ounds lovely. No clouds in the sky. And no worries, because if the weatherman is accurate, the Lord wont be returning today. Thats because the Bible says that when He comes, Hell be coming in the clouds. Thats rightno clouds, no coming. Its not that were basing our understanding of Bible prophecy on the weather reports... Let me explain. Heres how the book of Acts records the catching up of Jesus into heaven; Chapter 1, verses 9-11: And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up,
them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. It happens in the clouds. Notice something else. How Jesus was taken up. He was dead, the Spirit of God entered into Him, and then He was resurrected. As described in Acts, He floated up into the air and a cloud received Him out of their sight. Compare this to the ascension of the Two Witnesses, recorded in Revelation 11:11-12: And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them. And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a

They raised up, ascended to heaven, and a cloud received them out of sight. Furthermore, when this happened to Jesus in Acts, the disciples beheld Him. With the Two Witnesses, their enemies beheld them. The more I dwell on it, the more it looks like the description of the rapture in I Thessalonians 4 in which the dead rise and are caught up to meet the Lord in the air.
