1 - REGULATION OF THREE PHASE ALTERNATOR BY EMF AND MMF METHODS

1. Conduct necessary tests on a three phase alternator and hence predetermine the power factor at which the regulation is zero. Use synchronous impedance method.

2. Conduct necessary tests on a three phase alternator and hence predetermine the regulation at unity p.f. by a) pessimistic method and b) optimistic method. Draw the relevant phasor diagrams.

3. Conduct necessary tests on a three phase alternator and hence predetermine the percentage regulation at (i) unity p.f. (ii) 0.8 p.f. (iii) 0.6 p.f (iv) 0.4 p.f. (v) 0.2 p.f and (vi) zero p.f. (lag &lead). Use pessimistic method. Draw the relevant phasor diagrams.

4. Conduct necessary tests on a three phase alternator and hence predetermine the percentage regulation at (i) unity p.f. (ii) 0.8 p.f. (iii) 0.6 p.f (iv) 0.4 p.f. (v) 0.2 p.f and (vi) zero p.f. (lag &lead). Use optimistic method. Draw the relevant phasor diagrams.

2 - REGULATION OF THREE PHASE ALTERNATOR BY ZPF AND ASA METHODS

5. By conducting suitable tests on a three phase alternator, predetermine the regulation at unity p.f. using POTIER and ASA method.

6. By conducting suitable test on a three phase alternator, predetermine the regulation at zero p.f. lag using POTIER and ASA method.

3- REGULATION OF THREE PHASE SALIENT POLE ALTERNATOR BY SLIP TEST

7. Determine the direct axis and quadrature axis synchronous reactances of a three phase salient pole alternator by conducting suitable experiment. Also predetermine the voltage regulation at 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, unity power factor lagging.

8. Determine the direct axis and quadrature axis synchronous reactances of a three phase salient pole alternator by conducting suitable experiment. Also predetermine the voltage regulation at 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, unity power factor leading.

4 - MEASUREMENTS OF NEGATIVE SEQUENCE AND ZERO SEQUENCE IMPEDANCE OF ALTERNATORS

9. Determine the negative and zero sequence impedances of an alternator by conducting suitable experiment.

5 - V AND INVERTED V CURVES OF THREE PHASE SYNCHRONOUS MOTOR.

10. Plot the V curves and inverted V curves when synchronous machine is at no load and constant power by conducting suitable experiment. 11. By suitable experiment, properly synchronize a three phase synchronous motor to the supply mains using lamp method. Also plot the armature current and power factor against the field current.

6 - LOAD TEST ON THREE-PHASE INDUCTION MOTOR

12. By conducting suitable test on the given three phase induction motor, determine the torque & efficiency at 3/4th full load.

13. By conducting suitable test on the given three phase induction motor, determine the torque, slip & efficiency at 0.5 p.f.

14. By conducting suitable test on the given three phase induction motor, determine i) the slip at noload , ii) slip at 0.5 p.f. & iii) slip at full load.

7 - NO LOAD AND BLOCKED ROTOR TEST ON THREE-PHASE INDUCTION MOTOR

15. Determine the equivalent circuit parameters of a three phase induction motor by performing no load test and blocked rotor test. Also predetermine its performance parameters from the circle diagram for full load condition.

16. Predetermine the performance parameters of a three phase induction motor from the circle diagram for half load condition by performing no load test and blocked rotor test.

8 - SEPARATION OF NO-LOAD LOSSES OF THREE-PHASE INDUCTION MOTOR 17. Determine the iron loss and mechanical loss of a three phase induction motor by conducting suitable experiment.

18. Separate the no load losses of a three phase induction motor in to its constituent parts by conducting suitable experiment.

9 - LOAD TEST ON SINGLE-PHASE INDUCTION MOTOR

19. By conducting suitable test on the given single phase induction motor, determine the torque, slip&efficiency at 3/4th full load.

20. By conducting suitable test on the given single phase induction motor, determine the torque, slip & efficiency at 0.5 p.f.

21. By conducting suitable test on the given single phase induction motor, determine i) the slip at no load , ii) slip at 0.5 p.f. & iii) slip at full load.

10 - NO LOAD AND BLOCKED ROTOR TEST ON SINGLE-PHASE INDUCTION MOTOR

22. Determine the equivalent circuit parameters of a single phase induction motor by performing no load test and blocked rotor test. Also predetermine its operating parameters from the equivalent circuit at rated speed.

23. Predetermine the operating parameters of a single phase induction motor from the equivalent circuit at rated speed by performing suitable experiment.
