SKIN HYPERSENSITIVITY: New pathways ...

Our new skin care concept is based on important findings: approximately 40% of the population, all categories and skin phototypes combined, claim to have sensitive skin: feelings of discomfort, tightness, burning and intolerance to certain types of products. And this figure is constantly on the increase. What exactly causes sensitive skin?

Our Research Laboratory has developed a new pathway of action : NEURO COSMETICS that can decrease the answer of sensitive neurons to external stimuli. This is the first soothing cosmeceutic skin care providing the most intolerant skin with state-of-the-art cosmetological discoveries. The tolerance threshold level increases, the skin becomes less reactive to various stimuli, sensations of pain and discomfort are soothed.

Discovered in the 1970s, endorphins (from morphine and endogenous) are neurotransmitters acting on the opiate receptors. These are proteic substances produced by certain parts of the brain. The presence of endorphins and their receptors within the epidermis has been demonstrated and, more particularly within the keratinocytes. It has also been demonstrated that keratinocytes are sensitive to many neurotransmitters at the same time, in particular to endorphins synthesized by the nerve cells or by other epidermal cells but they are also able to synthesize them. They can bind to specific receptors bringing about a sedative action on pain somewhat identical to that of MORPHINE. In the event of stimulation of the receptors, analgesia, i.e. reduction or elimination of the pain can be observed. Endorphins resemble opiate substances by their analgesic ability coupled with the ability of providing a feeling of well-being. Substance P (SP) is the most important neuromodulator of neurogenic inflammation. It is released by the sensory nerve fibers which innervate the skin.

ACTING DIRECTLY ON THE INTERACTIONS BETWEEN THE SKIN AND THE NERVOUS SYSTEM: SKINASENSYL
NEUROCOSMETICS is based on interactions between the brain and the skin via the neuromodulators and intervenes using active ingredients capable of stimulating or inhibiting the activity of these messengers. Our Research Laboratories were able to highlight a new active ingredient resulting from biotechnology: SKINASENSYL, a solution of tetrapeptide derived from opioid peptides. SKINASENSYL enables: - to increase the tolerance threshold of neuro sensitive skin, - to lower the skins hyper-reactivity to environmental factors and/or to the topical application of certain products, - to provide a soothing, pain-relief effect to reduce feelings of discomfort by limiting the release of CGRP (Calcitonin Gene Related Peptide), the skins biggest neuro-peptide produced by the nerve fibers of the dermis and epidermis.
ERICSON LABORATOIRE

Sensitive skin is healthy but touchy skin that reacts more quickly and more intensely to several parameters: - External factors: temperature changes, heat, cold, the sun, etc. - The use of cosmetic products, various drugs, etc. This hyperactivity is expressed via cutaneous and sensory manifestations (redness, burning, stinging, etc) which are often temporary and evolve in the form of flare-ups over a period of several days. Sensitive skin is characterized by increased permeability of the stratum corneum and exaggerated nervous response. Lifestyle can also play a significant role: alcohol consumption and smoking, stress, fatigue, strong emotional states, etc.

SLIM DOWN AFTER 50: Is that so difficult?

This body care treatment is intended for mature women wishing to treat themselves to a complete, all-over treatment and to deal with the various problems they face after reaching middle age. There are three major problems to confront:

DHEA AND THE AGING PROCESS ARE LINKED

DHEA deficiency occurs sooner or later during adulthood. Daily production generally decreases at the rate of 1 to 3% per year as from the age of 30 years. At the age of 40, the DHEA concentration is only half its optimal level, declining by 80 to 90% at the age of 75 years. Levels of this hormone follow the human aging process so closely that some authors have even suggested this as a biological marker of the aging process. Thus many degenerative, age-related changes tend to be triggered by DHEA deficiency.

HOW CAN DHEA FIGHT AGAINST THOSE EXTRA KILOS AND FIRM THE FIGURE?
The 1st problem is that of wear and tear of the skin tissues. We know that the tissue becomes tired over time and changes in skin fibers cause certain lesions to appear in different areas: venous lesions and visible blood capillaries, fibrous lesions with irreversible stretching and the onset of grooves or stretch marks. This is with defective pumping of the blood and lymphatic retention with the effect of swelling and edema. The 2nd problem is that of body weight gain. Over time, fewer fats are burned off. This phenomenon is all the more obvious as the hormone system changes after reaching middle age. Hormone imbalance therefore triggers weight gain.

WEIGHT GAIN FACILITATED

NATURALLY CURBS HUNGER DHEA acts by increasing the levels of several neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine, adrenaline and noradrenaline, whiche reduce the appetite and the appeal of fats.

FAT MASS REDUCED DHEA can deviate the metabolism to fat-burning muscles by converting into male hormones in the body and raising somatomedin C levels. These hormones reduce the fat mass, increase the muscle mass and tone the figure.

FEWER ADIPOCYTES DHEA can reduce the number of fat cells or their lipid content by preventing the formation of new fatty cells and stimulating the combustion of old fats.

2000

The 3rd problem is that of a drop in hormone levels in middle-aged women. This lowering of hormone levels produces overall body fatigue and changes its whole metabolism.

FIGHT AGAINST GLYCATION

Glycation (or excess sugar in the cells) is a chemical reaction that occurs in the dermis and by which the proteins of our body react with a glucose excess present in the cells. To fight the glycation process, the third major cause of skin aging after oxidation and hormonal deficiencies, our Laboratories have developed a new highperformance active ingredient: ANTIGLYSKIN. This active ingredient is capable of inhibiting the glycation of proteins and strongly limiting the destructive effects of free radicals. The firmness and elasticity of tissues are protected. Skin aging is thus delayed.

PIGMENTATION SPOTS: Can we tone them down?

Many cosmetic products use a traditional method which works on the upper layers of the skin. The innovation of our new PERFECTION White Expertise Treatment lies in the fact that we go back as far as possible in the biological pigmentation pathway by acting at 2 levels: 1. Modifying the genetic action prior to the pigmentation process. 2. Re-routing the cellular messengers which produce pigments.

pigMentation
Pigmentation is a result of the synthesis and distribution of melanin pigments in the skin, hair follicles or eyes. Melanins are produced by melanocytes. The number of melanocytes, their capacity to export melanins to the surface keratinocytes and the size of the melanosomes which contain the melanin granules, all condition the color of the skin. The causes of variations in pigmentation are as follows: GENETIC PIGMENTATION The worldwide population contains a very great genetic diversity in terms of skin pigmentation. According to the population, skin color corresponds to a stronger or lighter pigmentation and a stronger or lighter shade situated between two extremes: very light and very dark. PIGMENTATION FROM UV RAYS Pigmentation contains a natural self-protection mechanism. For each individual, the color of the skin varies according to the strength of radiation of ultraviolet rays. PIGMENTATION DUE TO AGE With age, darker colored areas or even very dark spots appear on the skin, in particular on the face or hands. These marks are due to a high concentration of melanin in the keratinocytes of the epidermis.

ERICSON LABORATOIRE SOLUTION

INGREDIENT: ODAWHITE O.D.A.white (OctaDecenedioic Acid) inhibits the metabolic pathway of melanin synthesis from the melanocyte nucleus. The reduction of mRNA synthesis (Messenger Ribonucleic Acid) coded for tyrosinase prevents the production of tyrosinase and therefore melanin. ANTI-UV EFFECT Ericson Laboratoire has enriched some fluids, creams and serums with protective sunscreens and filters. They have an essential role in absorbing or reflecting UV rays and limiting skin penetration. INGREDIENT: LUMISKIN A clinical test relating to 22 Caucasian volunteers with an average age of 58 ( 7.8 years) with a twice-daily application of an emulsion containing 4% LUMISKIN , for 8 weeks, demonstrated the lightening effect on age spots.

IN VIVO tests An in vivo test was performed against a whitening agent on the market, Arbutine, in order to assess and quantify the clarifying properties of dO.D.A.white.

CAN STRESS MAKE YOU PLUMP? Importance of neuromodulators

Stress is undoubtedly the ills of the century, and it greatly disturbs our behaviour and our metabolism, causing unpleasant skin reactions: hypersensitive skin and sometimes even nerve blockage, high blood pressure and poor elimination, resulting in general or localized fat storage. Research on the neurophysiology of the skin is now extremely active and it appears that the cutaneous nervous system is able to control many functions of the skin through the release of neurotransmitters. Stress alters the delicate balance of these neurotransmitters in the skin.

NEUROCOSMETICS - endorphins AND LIPOLYSIS

Laboratories have therefore explored a new neurocosmetics way of action to fight the adverse effects of stress in the skin: to stimulate the endogenous production of cutaneous endorphins. From the relaxation obtained by the release of endorphins, all chain reactions that promote lipogenesis resulting from stress are broken. Lipolysis can be triggered and a decrease in celulite and orange pel skin is observed.

RELAXING STRESSED BODY In the upper layers of the skin: production of -endorphins, important anti-stress neurotransmitters to relieve tension and better eliminate fat by stimulating Adenylate cyclase (+85%). RELIEVING LOCALIZED CELLULITE In the deeper layers of the skin: the action of a powerful neuro-protective ingredient enables better innervation of adipose tissue and thus unblocking the fat vesicles called adipocytes (+51%).

INGREDIENT: BETAPHROLINE BETAPHROLINE is capable of stimulating the release of -endorphins by the keratinocytes. It neutralizes harmful, painful stimuli and generates a feeling of well-being. BETAPHROLINE stimulates the lipolysis mechanism, responsible for the decrease in storage of triglycerides contained in the adipocytes.

INGREDIENT: GLUTRAPEPTIDE GLUTRAPEPTIDE, derived from biotechnology, is qualified as neuroactive. It activates the innervation of adipose tissue and promotes lipolysis by acting on the length of nerve fibers. It is said to have neurotrophic properties.

HORMONAL CYCLE AND SKIN BALANCE

HORMONES AND THE SKIN
Skin is a hormone-dependent organ which suffers from regular hormonal imbalances and becomes damaged over time: dehydration, sagging, loss of density, formation of lines and a dull complexion. To maintain its beauty and resistance the skin also undergoes successive cycles in order to renew itself, but its self-regeneration potential weakens over time, the parent cells become dormant and the skin ages prematurely.

estrogens
Estrogens are steroid hormones secreted by the ovaries. They act by binding themselves to the cell receptors located on the surface of the cells of various organs. They promote the development of the secondary sexual characteristics and are also involved in controlling the menstrual cycle. They also have an effect on the liver, the adipose tissue and the skin.

HORMO-SKIN THERAPY
Women suffer from uncomfortable and troublesome fluctuations caused by hormonal variations on an almost daily basis. Each period of the month characteristically affects the condition of the skin as well as mood and fitness levels. This is why we have developed a hormonal treatment combining 4 different formulae, on the one hand for their phytohormone content and on the other hand for their supply of active ingredients enabling to provide a solution to the specific problems of each period of the month. This treatment is perfectly adapted to each period of the cycle and should be done on a continuous basis.
