My student Elisa is twenty-eight years old from Italy. She has been in the UK for three months.

She learnt English at school when she was fifteen for five years and had ten to twelve hours of English lessons per week. She was taught in a classroom with a teacher and she enjoyed role playing and playing games with her peers. She didnt like learning grammar and pronunciation of some words are difficult because it is written differently to how it sounds. During lessons she would like to learn more grammar, speaking and listening because she finds that native speakers talk too fast. The best way to learn English in her opinion is to learn from a native speaker, practice more with her peers and teachers. She is one of the first students to respond in class to the teachers questions and works well in groups with her peers and on her own during tasks. She understands the tasks set and is not afraid to ask for assistance from the teacher when necessary. Her successful language use I love that the shops are also open during lunch hours because in Italy is not so. The only thing I don't really like is that on Sundays the shops close at 4:00 pm During lessons, she successfully completed a scan reading and reading for detail task. She asked the teacher what unsure meant during the reading task. She successfully completed a listening task where the students had to listen for peoples physical appearance and match it to the correct picture. She was the first to successfully complete the writing task and wrote two dialogues.

Grammar Language Problem 1

What the student said (or wrote): What is wrong?

Study with another people. Another is used with singular nonspecific countable nouns. Other is used with plural or uncountable nonspecific noun. People is a plural noun and so other should be used. Student has confused another with other. People speak not slow. (Talking about native English people) Use of words, fast is better here instead of not slow

Vocabulary Language Problem 2

Why did the student make the mistake? What the student said (or wrote): What is wrong? Why did the student make the mistake?

Pronunciation What the student said: Language Problem What is wrong? 3 Why did the student make the mistake?

The student may not know the word fast or couldnt think of the word at the time. Or has the habit of saying not slow. I leave here for three months. // is pronounced as /i:/ for the word live. // is perceived as /i:/

I live in Nottingham since July is a beautiful city, I like to see the Center always full of people, I love that the shops are also open during lunch hours because in Italy is not so. The only thing I don't really like is that on Sundays the shops close at 4:00 pm instead of 5:00 pm and after a certain time there are fewer buses. In Nottingham I go out with my little child, we are going in a playground at Broadmarsh or in a free park so he can play with other childs. In the weekend with my husband we are going in the city centre and anytime at restaurant. When I went to school I made a 1 week in Edinburgh by Edinburgh family so I could talk in English all day. In the morning I went to school and in the afternoon I went to visit a city and its monument. Its a beautiful city but the weather I dont like because there was always cold.
