Buddhism Studies
They regard "Buddha Law" as something like a ategory of philosophy and make a study of and do the so! alled resear h on it with a riti al eye. "e#ertheless$ "Buddha Law" is more than that little bit re orded in the %utras$ whi h only deals with "Buddha Law" at the elementary le#el. "Buddha Law" is an insight into all mysteries of the osmos$ and en ompasses e#erything while lea#ing out nothing from the parti le$ the mole ule to the uni#erse$ from e#en the smaller to the greater. "Buddha Law" is an e&position of the osmi 'ualities "(hen %han )en" * Truth +ompassion ,orbearan e- presented at different le#els in different ways. .t is what the Tao % hool means by "Tao" and Buddha % hool by "Law".

Lecture One

Genuinely Guiding People Up to the High Hierarchy ( )

. am not going to talk about treating diseases here$ nor shall . treat diseases. /owe#er$ as a true ulti#ator$ you annot ulti#ate yourself without a healthy body. %o .0ll purify your body$ but only for those who really ha#e ome to learn the gong and the Law. /ere . would like to point out emphati ally that . ha#e no way to help you if you annot rid yourself of your atta hments$ and . an do nothing for you if you annot let go of your diseases. 1hy2 3s there is su h a Law in the uni#erse: 3 ording to Buddhism$ the ausational relationship go#erns e#erything in human so iety. Birth$ old age$ diseases and death stay with an ordinary person the way they are be ause the wrongdoings he ommitted in his pre#ious li#es in ur karmi debts$ whi h make him suffer from illnesses or tribulations. To suffer is to pay your karmi debts4 therefore no one is allowed to hange it as he pleases. +hanging it means that the debt one owes does not ha#e to be paid off4 and no one is allowed to do it of his own free will$ or he is as good as ommitting e#il deeds. %ome people belie#e they are doing good when treating diseases and keeping fit for others. .n my opinion$ they ha#e not really ured the diseases$ but only put them off or transformed them$ instead of rooting them out truly. 5nly by dissol#ing one0s karma an you really remo#e his tribulation. .f someone has rea hed su h a le#el that he is indeed able to ure the disease and dissol#e the karma ompletely$ he must be in 'uite a high dimension. /e has already seen the truth$ that is$ the Law of the human world annot be #iolated as one wishes. 6uring the ourse of their ulti#ation$ pra titioners are allowed to do some good out of ompassion$ su h as to help people treat diseases and keep fit$ but they an not ure the patients ompletely. .f you were able to ure an ordinary person of his diseases thoroughly$ as a non!pra titioner$ when he left here diseases free$ he would still beha#e like an ordinary person$ s rambling for his own personal interests. 1hy should his karma be leared off for him2 This is definitely not

allowed.

Then why can we do it for cultivators? This is because a cultivator is most precious. He wants to cultivate himself, and it is this very thought that is most valuable. In Buddhism, there is Buddha nature to it. Once this nature reveals itself, the enlightened beings ( will come to his help. !hat does this mean? In my view, this is because I am teaching the gong in the high dimension, dealing with the "aw in the high dimension, and the issues involved are #uite big. In this universe, the real life of a human being is not born in this human world, but in the cosmic space. In the universe, there are #uite a lot and a great variety of life $ creating substances, the interplay of which can create lives. That is to say, the earliest life of a human being came from the universe. The cosmic space itself was originally nice and compassionate, actually possessing such #ualities as %hen &han 'en ( Truth (ompassion )orbearance , with which human beings were born. However, as more and more lives came into being, there occurred a *ind of social relationship among groups of people. &ome of them might have developed selfish motives, and thus gradually lowered their dimension+ they could not stay where they were and had to drop to a lower dimension. However, in this new dimension, they became bad again and still could not stay there, so they continued to drop until reaching the dimension of human beings. The whole human society stays in the same dimension. Having dropped to this stage, these living beings should have been destroyed, from the point of view of supernormal capabilities, or according to the great enlightened. However, the great enlightened gave them another chance out of mercy, and thus created such a special environment and space, while the living beings in this space are #uite different from those in all the other spaces in the universe. They cannot see the living beings of the other spaces, nor can they see the truth of the other spaces, nor can they see the truth of the universe+ therefore they are as good as lost. In order to cure their diseases, stop their sufferings and rid themselves of their *arma, these people have to cultivate to return to the origin and go bac* to the truth. This is a view held by all schools of cultivation. The real purpose of being a human being is to return to the origin and go bac* to the truth. &o once a person wants to cultivate himself, he is said to have revealed his Buddha nature. This thought is most valuable because he wants to return to the origin and go bac* to the truth, ,umping out of the level of ordinary people. -ou may have heard of a saying from Buddhism. Once Buddha nature presents itself, it sha*es the Ten /irections of the universe. !hoever sees it will come to his help

unconditionally. Buddhas save people without ma*ing a condition, without as*ing for anything in return. They can help people unconditionally. &o we can do many things for our students. 0s for an ordinary person, we will not help him because he ,ust wants to remain an ordinary person and be cured of his diseases. Here is someone who thin*s. I1ll start cultivation as long as I have recovered from illness. He cannot ma*e a condition for cultivation. If he wants to cultivate, he may start to do it. However, there are some people who have come with unhealthy bodies+ some carry disorderly messages in their bodies+ others have never practised #igong at all+ still others have practised for decades only to find themselves still wandering in the state of #i, and therefore have not gone up in cultivation. !hat shall we do then? !e1ll purify their bodies to enable them to go up to a high level of cultivation. /uring the lowest level of cultivation, there is #uite a process of purifying the body thoroughly and completely+ emptying the mind of bad thoughts, cleaning up the *armic field around the body and driving away the factors causing diseases all at once. Otherwise, with such a turbid body, a blac*ened body and a filthy mind, how can you reach the high dimensional cultivation? Here we do not e2ercise #i, therefore you do not have to practise low level things, for we1ll push you over to ma*e your body free of diseases. 3eanwhile, we1ll plant a series of what is ready$made for you to lay the foundations at the lower levels. In this way, you can start practising at a very high level. 0ccording to a saying from cultivation, cultivation consists of three phases, including the practice of #i, but genuine cultivation has only two great phases (e2cluding the practice of #i . One is the cultivation of &hi 4ian )a ( the In$ Triple$!orld$"aw + the other is the cultivation of (hu &hi 4ian )a ( the Beyond$Triple$!orld$"aw . These two are entirely different from the terms !orld$In and !orld$Out used by mon*s and nuns in the temple, which fall into the category of theory. The two great phases of ours have brought about a transformation in the true cultivation of the human body. In the course of the cultivation of the In$Triple$!orld$ "aw, the human body *eeps being purified, and is purified incessantly+ and when a person arrives at the highest form of the In$Triple$!orld$"aw, his body will completely be replaced by substances of high energy. 0nd the cultivation of the Beyond$Triple$!orld$"aw is virtually the cultivation of the Buddha body, a body made up of substances of high energy, with all the supernatural powers emerging once again. !hat we refer to are these two great phases.

o far as we understand, this school is getting into a bull1s horn (a dead end . Then, what do we mean by getting into a bull1s horn? !hen /harmer began to dig into it, he felt it spacious+ the &econd 5atriarch felt it not so comfortable+ the Third felt it not too bad+ and when it came to the )ourth, it became #uite narrow+ the )ifth found there was not much space left+ and when it came to the &i2th 5atriarch Huineng, there was no room left, and he could no longer get into it. If you go to a %en master to learn the /harma today, do not as* #uestions. If you do, you will get a stic*$hit on the head, which is called 6stic*$warning6. It means that you cannot as* #uestions, but that you should ma*e yourself understood by yourself. -ou may say, 6I have come here to learn ,ust because I do not *now. !hat on earth can I understand by a stic*$hit on the head?6 That is to say, they have reached the tip of the bull1s horn, and there is nothing for them to say any more. 7ven /harmer himself said that he could only pass down his teaching to the &i2th 5atriarch, and that thereafter there would be no more teaching of %en Buddhism. 8ow several hundred years have passed. However, there are still some people who cling to the principles of %en Buddhism. Then, what e2actly did &a*yamuni mean by saying that 6There is no /harma without change6? t last$ %akyamuni also said$ ". ha#e prea hed no 6harma at all in my whole life." This is again interpreted by (en Buddhism as there is no 6harma to be prea hed. .n his later years$ %akyamuni had rea hed the status of Tathagata. Then why did he say that he had prea hed no 6harma at all2 1hat e&a tly did he mean by this2 1hat he meant was$ "7#en if .0#e rea hed the status of Tathagata$ . still fail to see what the ultimate truth and the 6harma of the uni#erse are." .n this way he told people after him not to a ept his words as the absolute truth$ the un hanging truth4 otherwise they might be onfined to or go below the status of Tathagata without being able to make a high dimension breakthrough. The people after him ould not grasp the true sense of these words$ and misinterpreted them as ".f spoken out$ the 6harma will not be the 6harma." 3 tually$ what he meant is: The 6harma #aries from dimension to dimension$ but the 6harma in ea h dimension is not at all the absolute truth of the uni#erse. /owe#er$ the 6harma in a dimension does ser#e as a guiding prin iple for that dimension. This is e&a tly the truth he referred to. But what is Buddha Law after all2 .n this uni#erse$ the most fundamental 'ualities (hen %han )en * Truth +ompassion ,orbearan e- are e&a tly the most essential Buddha Law$ the highest manifestation of Buddha Law. Buddha Law differs in the way of manifestation$ differs in the role it plays as a guiding prin iple$ from dimension to dimension. The lower the dimension is$ the more 8umbled and numerous its manifestations are. These fundamental 'ualities$ (hen %han )en are found in all

substan es !! parti les of the air$ stone$ wood$ earth$ iron and steel$ the human body4 an ient people stressed that the ten thousand things of reation in the uni#erse omposed of ,i#e 7lements also ha#e these 'ualities$ (hen %han )en. The ulti#ator who has rea hed a ertain dimension an only per ei#e the spe ifi manifestation of Buddha Law in that dimension. This is his attainment status$ the le#el of attainment. Broadly speaking$ the Law is 'uite enormous. 3t the highest point$ it is #ery simple$ for it is 'uite similar to the shape of a pyramid. .n an e&tremely high dimension$ three words an be used to generalize it. They are (hen$ %han and )en. )e#ealing itself in ea h dimension$ the Law is e&tremely omple&. Take a human being for instan e$ Taoists regard the human body as a small uni#erse. 3 human being has a physi al body$ but only a body itself annot omplete an integrated human being. .t needs to ha#e temperament$ hara ter$ personality$ and the e&isten e of 9uanshen *the True %pirit- to be ome an integrated$ independent and spe ifi indi#idual. This is also true of our osmos. There are :ilky 1ay gala&y$ other gala&ies$ and life and water$ the ten thousand things of reation in this uni#erse. This is one side of the physi al e&isten e$ but there also e&ist these fundamental 'ualities$ (hen %han )en simultaneously. They an be found in the parti le of any substan e. Tiny parti les all ontain these 'ualities.

The fundamental #ualities, %hen &han 'en are the criteria of ,udging between the good and the bad in the universe. !hat is good and what is bad? It is only by this criterion that we can ,udge. The same is true of the virtues we referred to in the past. Of course, the moral standard of today1s human society has already changed, and it has been distorted into the bargain. If a person were learning from "ei )eng now, he might be considered to be mentally ill, but who would have thought so if this had happened in the 9:1s and ;:1s? The moral standard of man*ind is going downward+ public morals are declining day by day+ people are bent on nothing but profit+ they try to hurt others for their own personal interests+ they try to overta*e each other for personal gain by fair means or foul. 4ust imagine< (an this be allowed to continue? &omeone is doing wrong. If you told him he is wrong, he would not believe you. He really does not believe he is doing wrong. &ome people even ,udge themselves by the deteriorating moral standard and consider themselves better than the others because the criteria of ,udgment have already changed. 8o matter how the moral standard of man*ind has changed, the fundamental #ualities of the cosmos will always remain the same. These #ualities are the sole criterion of ,udging whether a person is good or bad. Therefore, as a cultivator, you must act according to the fundamental #ualities of the cosmos rather than according to the standard of ordinary people. -ou have to act on these criteria if you want to return to the origin and go bac* to the truth, if you

want to ascend in cultivation. 0s a human being, only by being able to go with the fundamental #ualities of the cosmos, %hen &han 'en, can you become a good person+ going against these #ualities, you will become a truly bad one. 0t your wor* unit or in society, some people may say you are bad, but you are not necessarily really bad+ some may say you are good, but you are not necessarily really good. 0s a cultivator, assimilating yourself to these #ualities, you will definitely achieve the way. It is ,ust so simple a logic. The Taoist cultivation of %hen &han 'en lays stress on the cultivation of %hen. &o they go in for cultivating the truth and nourishing their nature, telling the truth, acting on the truth, becoming true, returning to the origin and going bac* to the truth, and eventually become immortals in cultivation. However, there is also 'en, and there is &han, but with the emphasis on %hen in cultivation. !hile the Buddha &chool puts emphasis on &han of %hen &han 'en in cultivation, for the cultivation of &han can give rise to the growth of the great loving *indness and compassion. Once their compassion is up, they see all sentient beings suffering. 0s a result, they ma*e a vow to save them out of their suffering. However, there is also %hen, and there is 'en, but with the emphasis on &han in cultivation. Our school, )alun /afa is based on the supreme criterion of the cosmos $$ an integrated cultivation of %hen &han 'en, and therefore the energy we cultivate is enormous

3aybe many people have heard of 6prehistoric culture6, also called 6prehistoric civili=ation6. 8ow I am going to deal with this. The earth has 0sia, 7urope, 8orth 0merica, &outh 0merica, Oceania, 0frica and 0ntarctic on it. They are referred to as the 6continental plates6 by geologists. Tens of millions of years have already passed so far in history since they began to ta*e shape. That is to say, there is a lot of land which rose from the bottom of the ocean, and also a lot of land which went down to the bottom. 0s a result, the land became as stable as it is today after a passage of tens of millions of years of history. However, we have discovered, on many ocean bottoms, huge buildings of ancient times, whose carving and sculpturing are too e2#uisite to be the cultural remains of today1s human beings. Thus they must have been built before the land was deposited onto the ocean bottom. Then who was it that had created these civili=ations tens of millions of years ago? Human beings were not even mon*eys at that time, how could they possibly have created things of such high intelligence? 0rchaeologists have found in the world a *ind of organism called 6three$

leaves insect6, which came into being between ;:: million and >;: million years ago, and became e2tinct thereafter. 0n 0merican scientist found a fossil of 6three$leaves insect6, on which there was also a human footprint, left by a shoe he was wearing, and clearly printed on the fossil. 0ren1t they ,o*ing with the historians? How could there possibly have been human beings >;: million years ago according to /arwin1s theory of evolution? In the museum of 8ational ?niversity of 5eru, there is a roc* on which is engraved a human figure, which, after close e2amination, was engraved @:::: years ago. However, this human figure is wearing clothes, a hat and a pair of shoes, observing celestial bodies through a telescope in his hands. How could people of @:::: years ago possibly have woven cloth and worn clothes? The most inconceivable is that he is holding an astronomical telescope to observe celestial bodies, and that he has certain *nowledge of astronomy as well. !e have been of the opinion that Aalileo, a 7uropean, invented the telescope, which has a history of only over @:: years up to now. But who was it who invented the telescope @:::: years ago? In addition, there are so many other such mysteries. )or instance, the slabstone frescoes discovered in many stone caves in )rance, &outh 0frica and on the 0lps were wonderfully done, vivid and true to life. The human figures engraved on them are very e2#uisite, coated with a mineral paint, as well. However, they are all dressed up in modern style, somewhat similar to !estern suits, wearing close$fitting trousers. &ome of them have something li*e pipes in their hands+ others are holding wal*ing stic*s, wearing hats. How could mon*eys of several hundred thousand years ago possibly have had such a high order of the arts? 3fter a meti ulous he k whi h . on e did$ . dis o#ered that mankind had been left in omplete destru tion ;1 times. 5nly a few people sur#i#ed ea h time$ lea#ing behind a little bit of their prehistori i#ilization$ and went into the ne&t period$ li#ing a primiti#e life. /uman beings multiplied until there were so many when another i#ilization emerged. <oing through ;1 su h periodi transformations$ . still did not ount down to the origin. +hinese people belie#e in fa#ourable weather$ fa#ourable terrain$ and the group morale. =ariations in elestial phenomena and #ariations in weather will bring about different so ial onditions in ordinary human so iety. .n the terms of physi s$ there is regularity in the motion of matter4 the same is true of the mo#ement of the uni#erse.

Qigong Is Cultivation ( )
8ow that #igong has such a remote history, then what on earth is it used for? "et me tell you. Ours is a great cultivation "aw of the Buddha &chool, naturally cultivating the Buddha, while Tao &chool naturally cultivates the Tao (the !ay and finds the Tao. I1d li*e to tell you, this 6)o (Buddha 6 is not superstition. This 6)o6 ( is &ans*rit, an ancient Indian language. There were actually two words which were introduced to (hina at that time, called 6)o Tuo6. 0nd there was also a translation as 6)u Tu6. Having translated this way or that, we (hinese left out one word and called it 6)o6. !hat does it mean when it is translated into (hinese then? It means the enlightened ( , the enlightened person through cultivation. !here on earth is there any superstitious colouring here? 1hen it omes to 'igong$ some people would say$ "1ho will pra tise 'igong if he is not ill2"$ whi h implies that 'igong is used to heal diseases. This is a #ery superfi ial understanding of it$ e&tremely superfi ial. ,or this$ these people an not be blamed$ for many 'igong masters all do the same thing of uring diseases and building up health$ all tea hing uring diseases for better health. "one of them has e#er told about high le#el ulti#ation. . do not mean that their ulti#ation systems are not good$ but that their mission is to tea h what is at the le#el of uring diseases for better health and to popularize 'igong. >uite a lot of people want to go up to a higher le#el ulti#ation. They ha#e su h a thought and su h a wish but they do not know how to ulti#ate themsel#es. 3s a result$ they ha#e aused many diffi ulties for themsel#es$ and many problems ha#e arisen as well. 5f ourse$ genuinely tea hing 'igong in a high dimension deals with what is 'uite high.

Why Doesn t !our Cultivation "nergy Increase When !ou Do Cultivation# ( )

!hy doesn1t your cultivation energy increase when you do cultivation? Buite a lot of people thin* this way. I have not received any genuine teachings for my cultivation. If a certain teacher teaches me some uni#ue s*ills, and some super hand s*ills, my cultivation energy will go up. 8ow C9D of the people share the same opinion. I find this rather funny. !hy? Because #igong is not mastery of a s*ill used in ordinary people, but it is something entirely supernormal, therefore it must be

measured by the "aw at the high level. I1d li*e to tell you all the basic reason why your cultivation energy can not go up. Of the two words 6cultivation, practice6, people only pay attention to 6practice6 rather than 6cultivation6. If you go searching outside yourself, you will never achieve anything. How can you imagine transforming high energy substances into cultivation energy with an ordinary human body, ordinary human hands and an ordinary mind? How can your cultivation energy go up this way? This is by no means easy. It seems a ,o*e to me. This is as good as going searching outside yourself, see*ing after something outside yourself. -ou will never find anything. ow? -ou should only go cultivating inside yourself, but can not go searching outside yourself. How many people all go searching outside themselves, loo*ing for this today, and that tomorrow. 0nd they are also obsessed with see*ing after supernormal capabilities. They have various purposes. &ome people even want to become #igong masters, treating diseases to ma*e a fortune. However, true cultivation entails the cultivation of your heart, which is called the cultivation of Ein2ing ( . )or instance, in a person$to$person contradiction between people, you should care less about the seven emotions and the si2 sensory pleasures, and various desires. It is by no means easy for you to want to increase cultivation energy when you are competing and contending with others for your own personal interests. 0ren1t you doing the same as ordinary people? How can you increase cultivation energy? &o, you should pay attention to the cultivation of Ein2ing. In this way, your cultivation energy can go up and cultivation attainment can rise to a higher dimension. !hat is Ein2ing ( ? It covers many aspects of things, including /e ( virtues, a *ind of matter , 'en(forbearance , awa*ening #uality, giving, giving up all *inds of desires and all *inds of attachments which are common to ordinary people, and the ability to bear hardships. Only when every aspect of your Ein2ing has been improved, can you really go up. This is one of the *ey causes of strengthening your energy potency. .f you go beyond the dimension of ordinary people$ you will be able to feel them. /ow2 3ll matter in the uni#erse$ in luding all matter filling the whole uni#erse$ are entities of intelligen e. They all an think$ and they are all e&isting forms of the osmi Law in #arious dimensions. They do not allow you to rise to a higher dimension$ and e#en if you want to go up$ you 8ust annot be ause they do not allow you to. 1hy not2 Be ause your ?in&ing is not good enough for that. 3s ea h dimension has a different standard$ if you want to raise your dimension$ you will ha#e

to gi#e up your bad thinking and empty your mind of all things dirty and filthy$ and assimilate yourself to the standard re'uired of that dimension. 5nly in this way$ an you as end. . :eanwhile$ you will ha#e to endure some hardships and suffer a little to remo#e some of your karma$ and thus you will be able to as end a little. That is to say$ the osmi 'ualities will remo#e some restri tions from you. +ulti#ation is your own business$ while the e#olution of ulti#ation energy is done by your master. 9our master has pro#ided you with a kind of energy whi h an in rease ulti#ation energy. This energy will fun tion when it an transform the substan e$ 6e *#irtues-$ into ulti#ation energy outside your body. 3s you in reasingly impro#e yourself and go up in ulti#ation$ your energy pillar grows higher at the same time. 3s a ulti#ator$ you should ulti#ate yourself and steel yourself in the en#ironment of ordinary people$ and get rid of your atta hments and #arious desires gradually. 1hat we human beings often onsider to be good is usually regarded as bad when seen from the high dimension. %o we say$ the more personal interests one has gained in ordinary people$ the better he li#es$ the worse he has be ome in the eyes of the great enlightened$ but ordinary people ount these good. /ow bad is he then2 The more he gains$ the more he hurts others be ause he has obtained what he should not. 3nd he will gi#e mu h attention to wealth and fame$ and therefore will lose 6e. .f you want to in rease ulti#ation energy$ but pay no attention to the ulti#ation of ?in&ing$ you will ne#er in rease your ulti#ation energy at all

8ow I am going to say how /e is evolved into cultivation energy. In the world of cultivation, there is such a saying called 6(ultivation is one1s own business, while the evolution of cultivation energy is done by one1s master.6 However, some people teach placing a crucible onto a furnace to ma*e eli2ir of immortality with the gathered medical substances, and intention, because they thin* these are very important. But I1d li*e to tell you that they are not at all important. If you thin* much about them, you will have an attachment. If you attach much weight to them, aren1t you see*ing after them? (ultivation is your own business, while the evolution of cultivation energy is done by your master. It is enough for you to have this wish. It is your master who really does this for you, and it is entirely impossible for you to do this. !ill you be able to evolve that *ind of entity of intelligence composed of these high energy substances with an ordinary human body? It is out of the #uestion. It is all a ,o*e

tal*ing about this. The evolution process of the human body in another space is #uite miraculous and abstruse, and very comple2, and is utterly beyond your capability. !hat will your master give you? He will give you the energy which can be used to increase cultivation energy. 0s /e stay outside the human body, it is the /e that give birth to one1s real cultivation energy. It is all the /e that give rise to the height of one1s level of attainment, the strength of his energy potency. -our master evolves your /e into cultivation energy, which grows in an upward spiral. The cultivation energy which truly decides one1s level of attainment grows outside one1s body and forms an energy pillar after growing spirally to the top of one1s head in the end. &eeing how high a person1s energy pillar is, we can tell how high his attainment of cultivation energy is. This is truly his level of attainment, the achievement status Buddhism refers to. !hile some people are sitting in practice, their -uanshen (True &pirit can leave their bodies, rising high into the s*y all at once, further upward, and then cannot and dare not ascend any further. They are ascending by sitting on their own energy pillar, and therefore they can only ascend that high. Because their energy pillar is that high and they cannot ascend any further. This is what Buddhism teaches about achievement status. There is another yardstic* used to measure how high one1s Ein2ing is. The yardstic* and the energy pillar do not stay in the same space, but they e2ist at the same time. If you have improved your Ein2ing in cultivation, for e2ample, among ordinary people you do not utter a word but feel completely at ease when somebody shouts an abuse at you+ you do not say a word but laugh it off when somebody deals you one blow with a fist. -ou have already shown very high Ein2ing. 8ow that you are a cultivator, what should you gain then? /on1t you gain cultivation energy? 0s your Ein2ing goes up, your cultivation energy is growing. How high your attainment of cultivation energy is depends on how high your Ein2ing is. This is an absolute truth. &ome people in the past practised #igong hard and #uite well either in the par* or at home, and they were pretty sincere. However, once they went out, they were no longer cultivators, doing whatever they li*ed, competing with others and striving for fame and wealth with ordinary people. How can their cultivation energy grow? 8ot at all. This is also the reason why they cannot get well from their diseases. !hy haven1t some people recovered from their diseases after a long time of practice of #igong? Bigong is cultivation, something supernormal, not physical e2ercise done by ordinary people. &o, only by paying great attention to Ein2ing can they recover from their diseases or increase their cultivation energy.

here are many supernormal capabilities, ten thousand *inds of them. 0s soon as one has ta*en form, it is loc*ed up. !hy do they not come out? The purpose is that you will not be allowed to use them to do what you want to in ordinary human society, that you cannot interfere in it as you li*e, and that you cannot show off your abilities in it at will, because they will interfere with the state of ordinary human society. There are a lot of people who are cultivating themselves while becoming enlightened. If they made all their abilities appear, seeing that they are all true, then all people would come for cultivation, even those who are unpardonably wic*ed would also come along. This will not be allowed to happen. Therefore you are not allowed to show off this way. Besides, you are liable to do bad, for you cannot see the causational relationship of the matter and the root cause of it. -ou thin* you do something good, but maybe you do something bad, and therefore you are not allowed to use these supernormal capabilities. Once you do bad, you will drop down off your dimension, and all your cultivation will be in vain. &o many supernormal capabilities are loc*ed up. !hat will you do then? By the time you have opened your cultivation energy and become enlightened, this eli2ir of immortality will serve as a bomb, blowing up all the supernormal capabilities, all the loc*s and the acupuncture points in your body. !ith a shoc*ing 65a6, all are blown up. This is what the eli2ir of immortality is used for. !hen a mon* is cremated after death, there are usually relics left, which some people say are bones and teeth. But why has an ordinary person not got them? This is e2actly the eli2ir of immortality, which has e2ploded, and its energy has released. It itself contains plenty of substances from other spaces. It is also something of material e2istence after all, but it is useless. 5eople nowadays regard them as something very valuable because they are glossy, energy possessing and very hard. This is the very eli2ir. There is another reason for failing to increase cultivation energy. Because you do not *now the "aw e2isting in the high dimension, you will not be able to go up in cultivation. !hat does this mean? 0s I have ,ust said some people have practised many *inds of #igong e2ercise. I1d li*e to tell you that it is no use their learning many more than this, and that they are only primary school pupils, in terms of cultivation, because what they have learned all belongs to the principles guiding elementary levels. The principles applied to such low levels cannot guide them up to high dimensional cultivation. If you are learning primary school te2tboo*s at college, you are still a primary school pupil. It is no use learning more, and the result will be still worse. The "aw varies from dimension to dimension. It differs in the role it plays guiding a different dimension, and therefore the principles applied to the low levels cannot guide you up to high dimensional cultivation. !hat we are going to e2pound

to you from now on is all about the principles guiding high dimensional cultivation. I am combining my tal* with what e2ists in different dimensions, which, as a result, will always serve as guidance for your cultivation from now on. I have got several boo*s, magnetic tapes and video tapes. -ou will find in them that after you have read or listened to them once, when you read or watch or listen to them again after a while, they are sure to still serve as your guide. 0s you are increasingly improving yourself, they will continuously give you guidance. This is the "aw. The above are the two reasons why one does not increase cultivation energy when he does cultivation. He does not *now how to cultivate himself because he does not *now the "aw guiding high dimensional cultivation. He does not increase cultivation energy because he fails to cultivate inside himself and fails to cultivate his Ein2ing. These are the two reasons.

On the Issue o$ 'illing

!e find that once a person was born, there are many of him born simultaneously in a certain scope of this cosmic space. They all loo* li*e him, have the same name as his and do similar things, and so they can be called parts of his whole. &uch a matter involved here is that, if one living being of his (as in the case of the life of a large animal died suddenly while the rest of him in different spaces have not finished their pre$arranged path of life and have many years to live on, this person who has died will fall into a homeless situation, wandering around in the space of the universe. That may be the case with the lost souls and homeless ghosts who suffer hunger, thirst and hardships as described in the old days. But we have indeed perceived the terrible conditions in which he suffers. He has to wait for a home to return to until everyone of him in each space has completed his ,ourney of life. The longer he waits, the more he suffers. The more he suffers, the more (ar)a which he has suffered from is added incessantly to the *iller. 4ust imagine how much your (ar)a will increase as a result? !e have observed this through supernormal capabilities. !e have also observed a case such as this. when a person was born, there was an e2isting form of his whole life in a specific space+ that is to say, what he will do at different stages of his life all e2ists in that space. !ho pre$arranges his ,ourney of life? Obviously, it is done by an intelligent being in the high dimension. )or instance, at birth one belongs to a certain family, a certain school, and a certain wor* place when he grows up in ordinary human society. He ma*es his contacts in different respects with society through his wor*. In other words, the layout of the whole society has been arranged in this way. However, because this life suddenly died, a change has ta*en place which is not in accordance with the original arrangement. Then the intelligent being will not forgive whoever has disrupted this arrangement. "et us thin* about it. 0s practitioners we hope to cultivate towards higher levels. The intelligent being will not forgive such a violation. How can the *iller cultivate? &ome masters are below the level of the intelligent being. &o his master will be punished with him, and sent down as a punishment. 4ust thin* about it. Is this an ordinary minor problem? &o, it is very difficult for one to cultivate with a record of (illing. 3s we human beings li#e$ we should maintain the right of li#ing. Therefore$ the li#ing en#ironment should also meet the needs of a human life. 1e annot hurt or kill intentionally$ but we must not onfine oursel#es to su h trifles. ,or instan e$

#egetables and grain ha#e life. 9et we annot stop eating and drinking only for this reason. 5therwise$ how an we pra tise2 1e should be abo#e!board and broad! minded. ,or e&ample$ while you walk$ some ants or inse ts may happen to run under your feet$ and be killed. They may deser#e death sin e you did not do so intentionally. .n the world of biology and mi robiology there also is the issue of the e ologi al balan e. Too many inse ts would be ome rampant as well. Thus$ we should pra tise in a broad!minded way. 1hen flies and mos'uitoes are in the house$ we may dri#e them out$ and install a s reen window to keep them out. But$ sometimes we annot dri#e them out$ so it is no problem to kill them. They bite and harm people in their homes$ so they should be dri#en out as they are not allowed to bite people. .f you an not dri#e them out$ you should not ignore them when they are biting people. 3lthough as pra titioners you are not affe ted and are immune to them$ other family members who are ordinary non!pra titioners may at h ontagious illnesses. 1e should not allow a mos'uito to bite a hild0s fa e.
