Dear Colleagues, The Philippine Association for Counselor Education, Research and Supervision (PACERS) is holding its 38th Annual Conference-Workshop on February 26-28, 2014 at the Bayleaf Hotel, Intramuros, Manila. With the theme: Navigating New Terrains in Counseling," this conference-workshop will focus on the latest developments in the counseling profession in the Philippines. The keynote address will give the primary tune of the conference as it presents a situational analysis of the current trends in counseling. The workshops will expound on various topics such as: (1) The use of DSM V as a diagnostic tool; (2) Adapting the Philippine standards for a comprehensive school counseling program; (3) Practicing evidencebased counseling; (4) Counseling the elderly before and after retirement; and (5) Counseling services in the workplace. As always, we will also have interactive poster presentations and simultaneous paper presentations of current research studies exploring the local trends of our profession by both academicians and students from a number of universities in the Philippines. As you may have noticed, the program and its topics target not only counselors but all professionals engaged in counseling. We are therefore inviting people from other disciplines to join us counselors as we work together to promote and enhance the holistic well-being of our clients.
