Job Posting: Fundraising & Communications Intern

Michigan United is a statewide coalition of faith, labor, civil rights, business, and social service organizations working together for racial and economic justice through community organizing. We are currently expanding our direct membership organizing in metro-Detroit, Kalamazoo, and Grand Rapids. Michigan United is seeking dedicated team members to join our campaigns for economic and racial justice. This work includes ongoing organizing to fight the foreclosure crisis and hold banks accountable, defend the civil rights of immigrant families and students, improve housing for the homeless, and help low- wage workers stand up for better wages and working conditions. Internships are three months and you will receive invaluable training and on the ground experience.

The Intern Must:


Be effective working with a culturally, religiously, and economically diverse group of partners, members, and staff; Demonstrate a deep dedication to social justice and a tireless desire to learn; Be able to work in a fast paced environment with high individual and team accountability; Be solution oriented with a strong base of interpersonal communication skills; Be highly enthusiastic, creative, and able to motivate others; Spanish/Arabic language fluency is a definite plus, but not required.

The Intern Will Be Responsible For:


Working with Operations & Development Director to develop and implement a special projects. Collecting and organizing membership lists and assisting with data entry processes;

Helping to implement the Michigan United Membership program in order to build a broad membership base capable of winning short and long term campaign goals, and building strong community associations; Designing and creating effective campaign literature and PR materials capable of reaching various constituencies; Assisting Development Director with event planning, and volunteer management.

Hours & Compensation:


Part time interns will work 10-20 hours/week, and receive a stipend of $500 per semester, plus potential school credit, recommendations, and invaluable community organizing skills and connections.
