Goals
Thegoalofthisworkshopistoanalyzethebaseofthejackassemblyshownhere. Ourassumptionisthemechanismhasbeenprovenalreadysowechoosetonot includetheadditionalpartsandmodelonlythebase.

Theweightofavehiclewillbesimulatedusingapointmass. Wellassumetherearelateralloadsactingonthejackaswellwhichwillbe
appliedusingaremoteforce.

Goals
Sincewewontbemodelingtheentireassembly,weneedtoknowthelocation wherethejackwillbecontactingthevehicle.Weassumethistobethecentroid ofthetopmemberofthejackassembly. Centroid=(2,247,0)

BeginanewWorkbenchsessionand,fromtheProject page,chooseRestoreArchive...andbrowsetothe fileWS3_Remote_BC.wbpzandOpen(location providedbyinstructor). Whenprompted,Saveusingthedefaultnameinthe samelocationasthearchivefile.

FromtheUnitsmenuverify:

ProjectunitsaresettoMetric(kg,mm,s,C,mA,N,mV). DisplayValuesinProjectUnitsischecked(on).

WhenMechanicalopenswewillhaveonlythebasepart.Sincewellbeusing remoteconditionsaswellasapointmassallatthesamelocation,itmakes sensetousearemotepointasareference.

Note,theuseofaremotepointmeansmultipleconditionsatthesameloction (likepointmasses,remoteloads,etc.),canallreferencethatlocationwithout duplicatingtheconstraintequationsusedtoapplythem.
