Admitting St. Johns Episcopal Church, New Braunfels
As a Parish in the Diocese of West Texas

WHEREAS, the communicants of St. Johns Episcopal Church, situated in New


Braunfels in the County of Comal, State of Texas, have expressed their desire to
change their status of mission to that of parish,
AND WHEREAS, the Vicar, Bishops Committee, and members have met all the
requirements to achieve such change,
THEREFORE, be it resolved that this 110th Annual Diocesan Council grant parish
status to St. Johns Episcopal Church, New Braunfels.

RESOLUTION 2-2014
Proposed Amendment To The Constitution and Canons
Of the Diocese of West Texas
(Second Reading)

RESOLVED, That Article II The Diocesan Council, Section 7 of the Constitution and
Canons of the Diocese of West Texas be amended to read:
A quorum for the transaction of business shall consist of a majority of the clergy
entitled to vote and registered at Council, and a representation of lay delegates
from a majority of congregations. A quorum shall not be necessary to recess or
adjourn the meeting of council.

EXPLANATION: The purpose of amending Article II Section 7 is to allow the
Secretary of the Diocese to consider only the number of clergy registered to
attend Council when determining a quorum for conducting business. The original
Article II Section 7 and proposed change is illustrated below:
A quorum for the transaction of business shall consist of a majority of the
clergy entitled to vote and registered at Council, and a representation of
lay delegates from a majority of congregations. A quorum shall not be
necessary to recess or adjourn the meeting of council.

FIRST READING: Adopted by both the Clergy and Lay orders at the 2013 Council
held in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 21-23, 2013.
