SHORT PLATFORM

Life After ArtSci: The number one question uniting Arts & Science students: What do I do with my degree? We want to help you answer that question by establishing a partnership with Career Services to offer yearlong programming that will provide you with the necessary tools, resources and understanding of what careers and opportunities can follow your degree. Marketable Skill Workshops: More and more employers are constantly looking for out-of-theclassroom experiences. This workshop series will develop, refine and enhance your marketable skillset to put you at an advantage when entering the workforce. Examples include public speaking, professional social media, and the ins and outs of interviews. Networking Sessions: Bringing back alumni who have achieved success in fields you are interested in pursuing is an excellent opportunity to ask questions, learn how to start preparing, and make valuable connections in the process. Career Fairs: We want to work alongside Career Services to improve the ArtSci Career Fairs. We commit to making the Career Fairs more relevant and beneficial to students by having student input on programming, company attendance, what careers should be focused on and more. New ASUS Website: The current ASUS website is difficult to navigate, slow, and scarce in information. This site should be one of the easiest ways to connect you to the Society. A revamped website with upto-date content and smooth navigation will make accessing academic, extracurricular and health/safety resources easier for you. E-Commerce: Formal tickets, QCLC tickets, ASUS clothing, jackets and more. All available in one, easy to purchase and easy to access location on the new website. Events Calendar: All commissions, all events. One place. Online Applications: Running to the ASUS Core at 4pm only to realize you forgot to add your class schedule and still didnt remove Grade 1 Spelling Bee Champion from your resume is frustrating. Online applications will help. Advocacy: ASUS is expected to improve your undergraduate experience at Queens, both in and out of the classroom. We want to reaffirm and revitalize this mandate through a stronger emphasis on advocacy. Here are three of the many ways that we intend to support and represent you:

Departmental Feedback Sessions: We will work with the DSCs to host informal, student-only feedback sessions where you can voice your opinions on grading, professors, course offerings, curriculum, etc. The feedback will then be organized into a report and presented to department heads. Enrollment Increase: We recognize that the proposed enrollment increase is very controversial for students. Space is already limited, wait times will only get longer, and class sizes will grow. We recognize the issues, and we will continue to address them. COMPSA/CESA Relations: These bodies are more than sister societies. Each student in COMPSA and CESA pay the ASUS fee and take Arts & Science classes; they are Arts & Science students. We will foster change through greater collaboration between councils, as well as greater inclusion and promotion of ASUS services and positions. Academic Care Packages: We understand that school can be tough at times. If elected, every Arts & Science student can come by the ASUS Core at any time next year to receive their academic care package, complete with a resource guide, a discount to ASUS Peer Tutoring, healthy snacks and more to bring out your academic best. Deans Honour List Certificates: Making the Deans Honour List is a tremendous accomplishment and an email doesnt do it justice. We want to partner with the Deans Office to present you with a personalized certificate that will better recognize your exceptional academic achievements. ASUS Trips: This idea will be piloted over the summer, which will offer the thousands of Arts & Science students who stay in Kingston an ASUS service. We want to plan and coordinate fun and exciting trips for you. In example, well organize bussing and tickets for a day in Toronto to see a Jays game at an affordable price.
