GTOSTAT

The Sylvania Glostat is a glow discharge type of starter, providing excellent starting time and life characteristics. This starter switch is located inside a glass envelope which is {illed with an inert gas such as neon. lfhe electric discharge through the gas creates enough heat to close the normally open bimetal switch blade, thus fully energizing the lamp cathodes. Upon contact in the switch, the arc is extinguished and the gas, cooling, allows the bimetal switch blade to operl once more, thus starting the lamp. Should the lamp fail to light, the starting process is repeated again and again. The Glostat is designed to take plenty of punishment of all kinds and particularly under failed lamp conditions. Sylvania glostats, which are available for all fluorescent lamps will show exceptionally iong life in service.

The COP* Starters are Glostat starters having, in addition, a thermally operated circuit breaker on the reverse side of the upright supporting plate. The breaker consists of a small resistor, a bimetal latch as one contact and a phosphor bronze spring as the other contact" The current to the starter passes through these elements which are held in contact position by the latch. Under failed lamp conditions, as evidenced by flashing, heat is generated in the resistor which releases the spring and breaks the circuit. Wittr a new lamp in place, the circuit breaker can be reset with a push-button extending through the top of the starter can.

The Robot COP* Automatic Reset starters are especially designed for hard to start conditions, such as installations with high humidity, ungrounded fixtures, low line voltage, or lack of a metal reflector. Unlike the COP starters, which it basically resembles, the Robot COP automatically resets itself after cutting a defective lamp out of the circuit. The Robot COP consists of a glow switch (globottle) and heater to operate a bimetallic element
The M-2 is a thermal starter that is ideal for DC operation on 15 and 20 Watt lamps. The M-2 performs equally well on AC circuits. The FS4-TG Thermal Premium starter, a new addition to Sylvania's starter line, is equipped with both a thermal srvitch and a globottle switch. The FS4-TG is designed for those preheat fluorescent installations where high voltage conditions instant start the lead lamp thereby reducing the lamp's life. The starter, through its thermal action, provides the long preheat time conducive to normal lamp life in operation. In addition, this starter also has a fast restart feature through the globottle which is desirable when the lamps have been in operation for a period of time and then are shut off and restarted. When the lamp eventually fails it shouid be replaced within four to eight hours in order that the starter will not be destroyed. MIRASTAT AND THERTAI PRENIUA
