Taiwan
TAIWAN Focused
Taipei
Danshui In July ten Students from five different countries attended our
training time. One team went out teaching in Asia, while the
PengHu other team focused on Taiwan. Here is an update on our
ShenKeng exciting summer traveling and teaching throughout Taiwan!
Our team of four SBS graduates and two staff taught Inductive
PingTung Bible study Seminars and Bible Overview classes in a variety of
Toufen settings. Teaching in 10 different churches, a coffee bar ministry and a prison!
They learned to adapt the Bible to many different audiences including adults,
Philippines youth, university students, Christian and non-Christians! In the south of Taiwan,
the team was able to teach and refresh believers in a church burdened with
volunteers and workers for local typhoon relief efforts. Not only that, but the
students also traveled to the SBS Philippines and taught in the 3rd Quarter SBS!
Following are updates from the team:

“He chooses to use The Bible has Power to Change

us… calling us to “I’ve never enjoyed reading the Bible so much” was a comment by one of our
teach, no matter students in the south of Taiwan. It was exciting to see glimpses of God opening
His word to His people. As I’ve traveled and taught over the past 2 months, I’ve
how tired, how seen that there are few things more worth doing than teaching the Bible. The
unprepared, how Bible has the power to change the way people see life, themselves, and God. If
you can affect the way that people think and what they believe, then you can
unqualified…” help their lives be transformed.
Another thing that impacted me during my Titus
outreach was a growing heart for the church of Taiwan.
One of the pastors said to us, “I need your help,” in
regards to starting a youth group in his area. The
church is meant to be a body, and it was awesome to
be able to come and serve the body of Christ in
Taiwan. Through teaching about the Bible our team
was able to create an environment for un-saved to be
involved in the church. (Continued…)

(…Continued) Titus outreach was one of the most difficult
times of my life, but I have to believe Jesus’ words, that she
who loses her life will find it. God used me to teach, but in that
time he taught me, and I will never be the same. -HR

Youth Who Didn’t Know God

For two weeks our team was leading a Youth Camp of
around 20 youth who didn’t know God. Our goal was to
help the church start a youth group. Our first week with
them was hard. We were not sure how to work with the
kids but the second week was amazing and everyday we
were able to share about Jesus. By the end of the week
15 youth wanted to accept Jesus into their lives or get to
know God more. Now we are receiving emails from some
students of what God is doing in their lives still. God is a
God of transformation and as he has been transforming
our lives we have seen it in the people we have taught as
well. -RR

Where are all the Pastors?

Twenty-five people, four nights and an Inductive Bible Study through Philippians! I was excited for our
week on the small island of Peng Hu (just west of Taiwan) But I was not prepared for the need we
found there. Our host, a local Pastor, told us many shocking things about the string of islands, “Some of
the littler islands share just one pastor, he’ll take a boat to a different church each week.” “Here on the
bigger island many of the churches have shut down because there is no pastor.”
I was stunned. In Taipei the church seems strong and growing, but in a land where the population is
less than 5% Christian it is evident that the need is great in most other parts of the country! Even more
to my amazement, 25 people did not attend our seminar that night… 45 showed up instead! -RC

Why Do We Teach?
There is nothing more fulfilling, nothing more enjoyable, and nothing
as satisfying as obeying God. Why do we teach? Because He tells us
to, because He calls us to, because we understand the great
significance of the cross in our lives and can do nothing but love
Jesus, desiring to live lives that bring him glory. It is beyond all
comprehension and imagination to why He chooses to use us, but he
does, calling us to teach, no matter how tired, how unprepared, how
unqualified or any of the other excuses we give him, he uses us. And
it is only when we let him use us and we join in the great joy, privilege
and honor of teaching that we are blessed to see people learn, be
challenged and grow in their Biblical foundations. Thank you Titus
Taiwan for an amazing outreach. -JG
