A Detailed Lesson Plan In Mathematics 4

I.

Objectives: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to: a. add decimals through hundredths with and without regrouping; b. show thoughtfulness during special occasions; and c. place the decimal points in a column. Subject Matter: Topic: Decimals Sub-topic: Adding decimals through hundredths with or without regrouping References: textbooks in Mathematics 4, page 194-197 Materials: flash cards, chart Value: thoughtfulness Procedure: Teachers Activity A. Good Afternoon Maam! (Students raise their hand and say present as the teacher calls in their name.) (Students pick up the pieces of paper.)

1. Drill: Will you put the sum on the outer space of the box.
a. h. g. 52 15 47 64 38 f. +40 26 83 e. d. b. c.

2. Review: Let us read these decimals and amount. 1. 0.06 2. 0.9 3. 0.07 4. 5.06 5. 12.50 6. 24.01

a. six hundredths b. nine tenths c. seven hundredths d. five peso and six centavo e. twelve peso and fifty centavo f. twenty four peso and one centavo

3. Motivation: Have you unwrapped a gift? What are the things we need in wrapping a gift? And whom do we give gifts?

Yes, we wrapped a gift last Christmas. The things that we need in wrapping a gift are gift wrapper, tape, objects, and ribbon. Of course we give these gifts to our love ones.

B. Developmental Activities 1. Presentation: Will you read the word problem _______?

Elaine used 0.5 meter of red ribbon and 0.8 meter of white ribbon on the gift that she will give her mother. How many meters of ribbon did she use?

Who can repeat?

(The pupil will repeat to read the word problem.)

Now, lets analyze the story problem.

How many meter of red ribbon was used? How many meter of white ribbon was used?

0.5 meter 0.8 meter

What is ask? Show the mathematical sentence using addition.

How many meters of ribbon did she use? 0.5 meter + 0.8 meter 1.3 meters

Valuing: Why did Elaine give her mother a gift? What kind of a girl is Elaine? Do you also do what Elaine is doing? Why? Because she loves her mother. Elaine is a kind of a girl which shows thoughtfulness. I will do what is Elaine doing because I love my mother and I am a thoughtful child.

2. Fixing Skills: Let us see if you already understand our lesson today. Answer the following: A. Arrange in column then add. 1.) 0.12 + 0.15 = 2.) 0.25 + 0.38 = 3.) 0.34 + 0.99 = 4.) 0.68 + 0.36 = 5.) 0.75 + 0.49 = B. Copy and complete each table by adding the decimal down and across. 0.13 0.08 0.05 0.57

1.) 0.27 2.) 0.63 3.) 1.33 4.) 1.04 5.) 1.25

0.18 0.65 0.21 0.62 0.83

Generalization How do we add decimals? like Will you read? adding whole numbers. Remember to place the decimal points in the column. Adding decimals is

C. Application: Get a scratch paper, add the ff. 1. 0.5 + 0.14 = 2. 0.63 + 0.27 = 3. 0.39 + 0.93 = 4. 0.79 + 0.78 = 5. 0.92 + 0.73 = IV. Evaluation: Answer the following: 1. What is the sum of 0.72 and 0.49? 2. Increase 0.57 by 0.38. 3. Add 0.46 to 0.78 then add 0.16. 4. Find n. 0.47 + 0.36 + 0.12 = n 5. Add 0.69 to the sum of 0.37 and 0.79. Assignment: Find the sum of each. 1. 0.85 2. 0.62 + 0.66 + 0.78

1.21 0.95 1.40 0.95 1.85

3. 0.23 + 0.57

4. 0.15 + 0.98

5. When 0.19 and 0.62 are put together, the result is ___?
