Directions: Lay all cards face down so that the blank side is facing upwards. Players take turns turning over one pair of cards over until they find a pair of common and proper nouns that match. For example Ms. Gregory would match teacher. The player with the most matches in the end wins. For a more active approach, pass out all the cards. Students can get up and move around the room to music. When you turn the music off, students must go find the other student who has the matching card with theirs. Then students can sit down together on the floor until all the students finish their matches. Students can then stand up in pairs and read their match to the rest of the class.

After a card has been used, it is put at the bottom of the pile, so it can be used again. Players may have to move backwards at times. Directions: Players take turns rolling a dice and moving that number of spaces. Players read the sentence in the box they land on and identify the action verb. Using the answer key below, the other players can check to see if they are correct. If the player is right, they can stay on that space. If they are wrong, they must move back to the space they were before they rolled the dice. The first player to reach the finish is the winner.

Possessive Noun Relay Directions: Cut out cards and either pass them out to students or place them facedown in front of small group relay lines. Each student takes turns flipping over a card, reading it and deciding if is gets a s or s to be correct.
