WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

WE GATHER TO GLORIFY GOD

PRELUDE O God, Our Help in Ages Past Vivien Chen and Chris Martin, pianists CALL TO WORSHIP (from Psalm 40) One: Many: I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the desolate pit, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Happy are those who make the Lord their trust. You have multiplied, O Lord my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you. Nettleton John Carter, b. 1930

HYMN 379 (Red Hymnal) Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (IN UNISON) Righteous Father, we who own more than we use, proclaim more than we experience, and request more than we need, come asking your forgiveness. We seek your salvation, then act like we save ourselves. We beg your forgiveness, then repeat our errors. We experience your grace, then act defeated. We see the hungry multitudes, and we send them away, expecting them to feed themselves. Forgive our every defection, and bring us to an unbroken commitment, through Jesus Christ, who is the way of hope, the truth of God, and the life of love. Amen. ASSURANCE OF PARDON GLORIA PATRI 579 (Blue Hymnal) Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.
At this time, children 9 years old and younger are invited to come to the front of the sanctuary with our volunteer leaders. The children and their leaders will worship in the chapel. They will be in "Children's Church" for the remainder of the morning and will meet parents in the social room.

HYMN 391 (Blue Hymnal) Take My Life APOSTLES CREED (IN UNISON) I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy Catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORDS PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

WE GIVE THANKS TO GOD

PRESENTATION OF TITHES, OFFERINGS, AND GIFTS ANTHEM Again I Say Rejoice Allen Pote, b. 1945

O rejoice in the Lord, my beloved. Rejoice in the Lord, my friends. Let us give thanks and sing for all that has been, and for all that is to come. Stand firm in the Lord. Press on to the prize of your calling, the calling of God through Christ Jesus. Move on from the past to what lies ahead, rejoicing in the Lord. Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is just, pure and pleasing, whatever is commendable, and worthy of praise, think on these things. And the peace of God will be with you. O rejoice in the Lord, my beloved. Rejoice in the Lord, again rejoice. Move on from the past to what lies ahead, rejoicing in the Lord. Again, I say rejoice! - Philippians 3, 4
