problems on air, water, land/soil, noise (page 2) -Causes and sources of environmental pollution problems (page 3) -Solutions being offered by the province or country (page 4) -Reaction/comments/recommendations on pollution problems and solutions (page 5 and 6 ) -References (page 7) -Annexes (pictures, tables, figures) (max of 5 pages) Maximum pages: 12 pages Font: Times Roman, size 12, single space -------------------------------Grading system: -Presentation of report (20%) - completeness - 10 - organization - 10 -Quality and reliability of references (20%) - Peer-reviewed references - 10 - Well-accepted by the scientific community - 10 -Depth of analysis (50%): - relevant environmental principles mentioned 10 - relevant environmental policies mentioned- 10 - relevant environmental quality standards mentioned- 10 - relevant environmental engineering methods/solutions mentioned - 10 - relevant practical solutions - 10 -Timeliness of submission (10%) Deadline of submission of case studies: 1week before the final exam 1. Background Describe the area in terms of: - Location - Land area - Population and Culture - Climate - Natural resources (e.g. forest, water, biodiversity, plants, wildlife, minerals, etc) - Facilities (e.g. housing, electricity, water supply, buildings, establishments, transportation, road networks, etc)

- Economic activities (e.g. industries, farming, fishing, mining, tourism, etc) 2. Pollution problems Show the problems by mentioning the environmental quality standards that were exceeded -Air -Water -Soil/land -Noise -Others 3. Causes and sources of pollution Determine the causes and sources of pollution, why the standards were exceeded -Air -Water -Soil/land -Noise -Others Mention environmental principles that were violated 4. Solutions being offered -Determine the programs of the government or even the civil society in addressing the pollution problems -Mention applicable environmental policies/laws 5. Recommendations -Comment on the environmental problems if the pollution is serious or not, if affecting a large number of population or not, mention applicable environmental principles or tools that could be used in the analysis.. - Comment on the solutions if there are gaps, if solutions being offered is adequate or not, effective or not, mention applicable environmental principles or tools that could be used in the analysis.. - Recommend environmental engineering or practical solutions that should be considered to fill the gaps
