113785 Sy, Nicolette Karilyn Store Check Report on Ever Supermarket Commonwealth General Store Observation Ever Supermarket

Commonwealth indeed has a clear vision of what its target market is. This can be seen in the well-stocked selection of the products available, the fixtures in the store and the entire ambiance itself. Ever Supermarket aside from the usual variety of products for regular supermarkets also offers an other miscellaneous items like an affordable line of cabinets, sofas, DVD players and other home furniture and even a small selection of flowers near the entrance. Another thing to take note of, the supermarket has a lot more affordable items on its shelves than imported goods. There is a clear organization of products on the shelves of the store but it cant also be said to be pristinely organized either like those which can be seen in the SM supermarkets. The shelves themselves seem to be old and worn as well as the product labels which can be found on them. These imply that Ever doesnt focus on the aesthetics of the store as much as it caters to the lower income classes. This can be further proven by the nice selection of tiangge stalls and inexpensive fast food establishments near the perimeter of the supermarket.Through on the spot observation, the average purchases of the customers range 500 - 1500 PHP often with products filling up a single basket. The customers who go in the store are very casually dressed and often in the sandals, shorts and t-shirt combination. The store carries a reward points system with the Ever Savers Club card which equates 10,000 points to 50 PHP. Shampoo The store is well-stocked on the different popular brands and sizes of shampoos and conditioners in the Philippines. Brands like Head and Shoulders, Pantene and Creamsilk take over much of the prime spots on the shelf space in the aisle. There is also a whole rack of selections on shampoos all in sachet sizes. In terms of imported goods, there is very little to be mentioned except for a few hardly recognizable brands. There are also sections for miscellaneous hair care treatment products like hair spa and an affordable collection of hair clips and accessories. Instant Noodles Interestingly enough, the aisle for the instant noodles had one side almost fully dedicated to the most popular Lucky Me brand while the other side has been stocked with various different relatively cheaper alternatives like Payless which was placed at eye level and Quickchow. It also has small displays of the imported instant noodles Korean Shin Noodles. Snacks There is strikingly a large selection of bulk-sized tin cans of biscuits found in the snacks aisles. These are often for large families with numerous kids or pasalubong products. There are a lot of imported products available as well like Quaker and large-sized Oreos. The chips section has a lot of small-sized packages of local brands both popular and unpopular. Detergent The detergent aisle has interestingly put the big sizes of brands like Surf at eye level which may mean that customers of Ever seem to buy detergent in large sizes. Though there are also the tingi sizes of baretas and sachet packs of detergent powders. Canned Goods Instead of the usual brands like 555 on the eye-level, lower-priced products like Liberty canned goods are displayed with best visibility. Mostly the products come in their smaller sizes. There is an especially large collection of lower-priced and less recognized brands in the shelves.
