CAREER ASSIGNMENT

FAMILY BACKGROUND I belong to a nuclear family ,which consist of my mother who is a teacher and my father is retired government servant,I have one brother who is working as a software engineer and one sister who is working as an HR both are elder to me .

Decisions and people who influenced me

As far as my career path is concerned ,First important decision that I took was to opt science after my boards .The things that have influenced me to take that decision was my family as I was the most intelligent child at home so my parents always expected me to take science infact even I always thought of taking science as it is the most toughest and challenging field .Then the second important decision was to do a graduation which was very tough for me to decide ,as I always thought that after science the second step has to get into engineering college. In that decision a lot of discussion happened at home finally the thing that influenced me was my brother lecture who was doing engineering at that time ,He explained me the difference between a graduate from Delhi university and an engineer ,his words made me go for Delhi university but then I decided one thing that if Iv to go for Delhi university then Ill go for north campus that decision was influenced by the surrounding, media and friends .But the last call was all mine so I chose kirorimal college in north campus .Then after graduation I was clueless what to do next all my friends were equally confused but still applying for one or the other things according to their family pressure and choices they have .The only thought I had was to join institute to prepare for government entrance exams ,but as I was enquiring for the good institutes nearby one of my friend who was considered to be quite intelligent in the class and was dropping a year to prepare for cat ,adviced me to join institute which is giving mba entrance exam coaching as that course pack will include the studying to

sextra knowledge which will be beneficial as that will give me chance to sit for MBA entrance exam as wells. So , I decided to join institute to prepare for MBA entrance exam. Then as Iv not scored good in most of the entrance exam so Iv to decide which institute to choose ,that decision was very less influenced but still I asked my sister and also searched in net about good institute under mat and thats how I joined iilm .Now the decision that I am taking to opt for finance is mine and is just influenced by my own interest .

Learning from the career module

The things that I have learned throughout the career module are Firstly ,I have learned that as an individual I should be able to identify my own ability and USP with the evidence to back it up ,which I can offer to the company . The other thing that I have learned is how I want to market myself on my CV and I have to think myself as a brand .Also some key points that are to be kept in mind are as an individual I should be self-motivated with excellent team work skills combined with discipline to work extremely well on my own if required. Strong organizational and communication skills are also a important things to look on . The most important learning as a student was about interview which were as follows : We should know where to start from i.e job description and

company profile and broacher. We should also be known about the essential and desired requirement, qualification, skills and experience ,knowledge and personal qualities that the company wants from us .We should always be prepared with the example for each and every skills that an individual acquire .I also learned about the basic Dos and Donts during the interview .Also the exercise that was done in the class about the job available and also the skills that the company is looking for and the feedback shared by the company was very usefull as a student to prepare well for the coming interview for SIP and final placement as well . One of the most important thing that I have learned which I also implied in my life and have seen the revert back is that social networking is very essential and has proved the same for me .As mam has discussed to start networking and see how can people whom you are in contact with can help you get the SIP,it really helped me as I have started that and come across many opportunity which were there through the people I know by just interacting and pondering over the people I know who are also working in the same sector I am interested in . Through career module basically I have learned how to work in a team ,how to utilize my own skills, how to handle my failure, and also to be goal focused(as we are going for sip we should be ready to do all the job given to us to make sure that the other person cant blame us as when it comes to us to ask for our kind of job)and last but not the least how to become a star performer .

ACTION PLAN FOR NEXT THREE YEARS

SHORT TERM AND LONG TERM GOAL: My short term goals are to make sure that I read financial news daily and also to make sure that am revising all the subject that are been taught in 1st year during my SIP .Also to make sure that I enhance my knowledge in finance to give my self extra edge over other .One of the important short term goal that I have is to think positive and to forget whatever happened in the past and to move on with a smile .I planned to work on it by being strict on myself and by making time table in which reading news paper and giving atleast2-3 hours to financial terms & topic will be there . My long term goals are to get a good job in finance sector and to work in that company for a good amount of time .Also to fulfill some my parents dream and then finally getting married with the right person .I planned to do so by achieving my short term goal first and also by making sure that I am working on short term goal keeping in mind my long term goal to make myself motivated enough . The action that I have intend to take will be long term till the time I will achieve my long term goal even after that some of my action will still be there such as reading financial news as it will be beneficial for me as I will be working in financial sector and to be known about the surrounding is the most important thing in todays world .While may be some of them will be short or medium term action depends on the kind of job profile I will be working in and my future growth in that particular company . I will keep in mind goals to carry the range of activity that I have to do fulfill the action .the activity that I have to do will be like I have to make sure that I will be reading financial news and also will try to discuss with

other people to make it more effective for myself and to understand it in a more better way .Also I will try to learn the financial term with example from real life so that it would be more prominent in my brain. Making time table will also play an major role and also to follow it to. I have to make sure to make time table in a way that it is feasible for me to take the amount of time needed for each and every activity . The potential challenges/barrier in achieving these goals can be my busy schedule out of which may be I will not be able to take out time for activities that are supposed to be done .Also there can be time when I wont be well or may be tired because of some work .To overcome these challenges /barrier I will try to adjust with some other days to cover up such as weekends I can give more time to the activities which are left out in the week . But then I have to keep certain things in mind like I have to complete my routine as soon as possible and should not delay further to achieve my goals until unless there is some emergency . The resources that I will be needing to address the gaps in knowledge, expertise or overcome other personal/circumstantial barriers would be a mentor/guide who can help me at the time I find any difficulties in my activities and also be strict at the same to time to make sure I am working on it . Also I would be needing proper surrounding who can also help in achieving these goals .Some of the more resources would be proper source of information from where I can understand things in a more easy and layman term .
