S. Peter’s Collegiate School

Dear Parents,
Another school year is coming to a close. Where does the time go?
It has been a school year in which we must thank God for His
goodness, for our school continues to be blessed and has so much
to be thankful for. The achievements of the young people and the
staff of S. Peter’s Collegiate School continue to flourish. There have
been many and varied activities and successes which have taken
place right across the curriculum and year groups. Many of these
activities have taken place outside of the school day in areas of
sport, drama, D of E, field trips, language trips, music events,
worship, and much more. I would like to take this opportunity to
say a very public thank you to all our staff for their energy,
commitment and time which enables these activities to take place.
I know that you as parents are also grateful to them. Governors and parents alike are fully aware of
the impact that extra curricular opportunities have on the well being and development of our
young people.
Our school building program is also flourishing. The new Diploma Learning Centre will be ready for
the autumn term. What a ‘state of the art’ facility that’s going to be. As a result of this
development we have been able to completely revamp the Art department, which will move
upstairs into modern facilities and the best view of any Art department in the city! We wait in
anticipation for what Building Schools for the Future has in store for us, but S. Peter’s school is
ready with its own ideas.
My thanks must go to John Ward, Jon Bruton and Graham Flukes, governors whose term of office
has recently come to an end. Their contributions and friendships were highly valued. I know that
they will continue to support the school in other ways.
As from 1st September 2009 I shall be standing down as a governor of S. Peter’s School after 18
very rewarding years. It has been a great privilege to be the Chair of Governors for the last seven
of those years. During these 18 years, I have been given the opportunity to be part of the
development of a very special place which has grown in so many extraordinary ways. I think of
growth in the buildings, the sports arena, the Millennium building with its theatre and chapel, the
library, netball and tennis courts, science labs, technology workshops and enhanced outdoor
areas. I think of the advances of technology and communication within school. I think of increased
opportunities and choices in the curriculum. I think of committed and enthusiastic staff past and
present who have enabled opportunities and examination results to go from strength to strength. I
think of students who return for presentation evening full of hope and excitement and new
confidences for their futures, founded on the ethos and nurture of the school. Outstanding school
leadership, vision and team work has been the essence of what has taken place during this time.
What has been steadfast through all these exciting changes is the commitment to uphold the Love
of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the values of His teachings as stated in the mission statement of the
school. Every child is a unique being and I have been humbled and proud to bear witness over
many years to see the school nurture and develop those who learn and work within this precious
and beautiful place.
I shall miss S. Peter’s Collegiate School. I thank you for all that you have given me and my family.
We shall continue to take an abiding interest in your future activities. You have exciting and
challenging times ahead. May God Bless you and watch over you all.

Dear Parents,

This final newsletter of the school year contains a wealth of information about student successes and events. Thank you
to all of them for their participation and achievements – also to the staff who have worked alongside them.
Our first Friends’ Association Caribbean Evening was an outstanding success with appeals for more such events on a
regular basis. I am so grateful with the way the Friends’ Committee and representative individuals from our city’s
Caribbean community engaged so positively with this idea. Parents and students enjoyed a wonderful evening – ticket
sales were a sell out within 24 hours of the advert appearing. Similarly with the Summer Fayre – the change of venue
because of the building remodelling did not affect attendance or enthusiasm! Thank you to the Friends Association for
their organisation and to all of you who supported this event.
It was a pleasure to attend the Leading Edge Partnership Programme Achievement Show at the Emirates Stadium in
London very recently. Dr Bev Williams and Mr Stuart Drury did an excellent job with a presentation on ‘An outstanding
Science Department’ which was well received by a very critical audience. The school had been invited to do this after
our Partnership Officer had finished his annual report on our activities.
The Project Based Learning and Dimensions training on June 19th was one of the best we have ever had – with
colleagues eager to put forward their ideas for teaching and learning and to be creative in building a curriculum model
for the future. I am very excited by our plans for the future as we begin to flesh out learning programmes in a
transformational way. I know that our students will benefit greatly from the learning experiences that lie ahead.
Last week we welcomed Lord Corbett of Castle Vale to school under the House of Lords ‘Peers in Schools’ programme.
He was most impressed with the way our Sixth formers interacted with him and asked some pointed questions.
Work on the Diploma Learning Centre is on schedule and we anticipate the ‘hand over’ on July 16th – then the hard
work will begin as we seek to get everything ready for next term! We have now completed our Voice of the Specialist
Partners survey and the appropriate discussions, - a copy of the report is available on the school website.

The Year 13 Leavers’ Dinner took place at The Mount Hotel at the end of June and a splendid time was had by all who
attended. Good food, company and a real sense of fellowship made sure that the evening went well – right into the
early hours!
We have now appointed our Senior Prefects for next year and they are as follows:
Head Girl – Laura Franks
Head Boy – Ashley Woodward
Deputy Head Girls – Frankie De Rosa, Lizzie Dawson, Katrina Thompson and Rachel Manning
Deputy Head Boys – Tom Finney, Ben Gilhooly, Richard Price and Ross Low
They will be ably supported by a strong team of prefects. Congratulations to all of them.
I was pleased to welcome The Revd Brendan Clover, Senior Provost of Woodard and Mr Chris Wright, the new Education
Officer into school last week. They are currently visiting every Woodard school to discuss their plans for the future and
how this partnership can be mutually beneficial. Chris was Headteacher of St. Peter’s CE School in Stoke until he took
up this appointment. As a school, we have engaged in many particular projects with our Woodard partners since taking
on Affiliated School status. Woodard is now playing a front line role in the establishment of new academies in Sussex
and the North Midlands. Of course, these school improvement connections are significant, particularly with links to
partners in the independent education sector.

As you know, the School Profile has replaced the Annual Report to Parents. This is published on the internet at

profile for this year was published on Friday 10th July 2009 so it is available to view now. Should you wish to have a
hard copy of this, please contact the school office. We will have to make a charge of 50p to cover reprographic costs.
END OF TERM DETAILS
School will close for the Summer holiday at 2pm on Friday July 17th. Buses will be limited, if any, and parents are
advised to make suitable alternative arrangements with their children.

Finally, my thanks to all of you for your continued support for our school and all that goes on within it. As usual, this
has been a very busy year with much to be really pleased about. However, as is typical of any human institution, there
will always be room for improvement, and I look forward to our work together next year as we seek to ensure that our
young people get the best and biggest opportunities in their learning at S. Peter’s.

‘Write-- On’ Review


English Department ‘Write
During the spring term a group of us from Year 9 took part in a project about
writing, which was aptly named the Write-On project. What made it really good
was that a real author joined us, Ian R. McLeod. Ian helped us with the project
by showing us what’s involved in writing fiction. He also encouraged us to use

our imagination. The project lasted for five weeks, with the project being held
on one day per week.
During the project we experienced many different challenges and tasks that
ranged from futuristic writing to us making up our own world and writing
instructions for other people to be able to get through our world. For my
futuristic story, I was 114 years old in the year 2109. All of the tasks were
challenging and made us think of what it’s like to be a writer.
My favourite task was when we had to create our own imaginary world. In my
world, I created the two-headed dragon of Inferiority. This task not only helped
me to use my imagination, but I also enjoyed the task because we were able
to make anything up and play around with everyday things around us.
At the end of the project, Mr. Jelic gave me some excellent news. I had been
chosen for the prize for best contribution to the project. For winning this prize I
was presented with a book, written by Arthur C. Clarke. Ian chose a book by
this author because he had won the Arthur C. Clarke award for science fiction
a couple of weeks before!
Overall I really enjoyed this chance to work with Ian and I know the others in
the group did too. He really helped us with our writing.

I go to many schools, but I have to say that the group of kids I worked with at
S. Peter’s were exceptional. All of them were produced work of such quality
and promise that it seems a shame to single one out for special praise - but
Matthew’s writing showed a distinctive sense of fun and invention. His vision
of a future with its stink of “last night's pasteurized steak and chips” will stay
with me. As will his gone-wrong cure for baldness!

A Super, Sporting Term for the PE Department


Here is a summary of the highlights of this great summer of sport at S. Peter’s:
• The Year 7 and 8 Sports days took place during National Sport week in the week
beginning 29th June. In line with an Olympic theme each form group was allocated a
country and had to dress in that country’s colours. There was a superb response from
the form groups and the format of the day gave every student the opportunity to
participate and compete against students of a similar level of ability. At time of this
newsletter the Year 9 day had to be postponed due to inclement weather
• The u15 cricket team were narrowly beaten in the semi final of the Wolverhampton Sports Day
Schools cup, losing by 4 runs to King’s in an excellent game.
• Congratulations to the Year 9/10 tennis team who were crowned as Wolverhampton
Schools’ Tennis League Champions. In the year 9/10 City Doubles Championships Jack
Nellaney and Will Hickman beat George Chatham and Ben Gutteridge in the final. All
four players in the final were from S. Peter’s. In the Year 7/8 tennis leagues S. Peter’s
finished as runners up to the Grammar School and the Sixth Form team finished third
in the Senior League.
• Congratulations to Matthew Hudson-Smith who recently represented the West Midlands
at the English Schools’ Athletic Championships.
• Year 10 won the City Cup after beating Heath Park 2 – 1 in the final. Goalscorers were
Deyontae James and Ben Gutteridge. The lads finished the year off in style after a busy
schedule of fixtures, which included finishing second in the league as well as a huge
reward for the lads in beating local rivals Smestow for the first time ever in the semi –
final. Well done to all the boys that have been part of the squad over the last two

• A fantastic season for the Year 9 Boys’ Football Team was crowned with victory

over Heath Park in the Wolverhampton City Cup Final. S. Peter's were unlucky to find
them selves 1-0 down at half time after an even 1st half. But a superb 2nd half
display saw Jelani Benjamin-McFarlane equalise with a stunning left foot strike,
before Tom Jackson gave S. Peter’s the lead with a delicate chip. Heath Park fought
back to equalise but Tom Jackson deservedly headed home the winner with 10

minutes remaining to make S. Peter’s U14 City Champions.
FINAL SCORE: S. PETER’S 3 – 2 HEATH PARK
• It has been a mixed year with Athletics this year with both rain-affected events, but also success in the
Wolverhampton City Athletics and the Thomas Telford Consortium Event. Both competitions led to individual
successes. In the Thomas Telford Consortium Event their were wins for Dominic Fearon, Year 9 in High Jump (1m
50), Harriet Latham Year 8 in Shot (7m 25) and boys’ relay for Years 9 & 10 (50:84 & 52:11). On a wet Tuesday 7th
July the City Championships took place at Aldersley Stadium with the Boys’ Athletics team coming 3rd overall
including Year 9 boys taking 2nd place. There were also individual winning successes for Theodore Reeve Year 8 in
Triple jump, Israiel Bernard Year 9 in Triple Jump, Dominic Fearon Year 9 in High Jump, Amy Thompson Year 7 in
800m, Dan Owen Year 7 in 1500m and Year 10 Girls relay team. Well done to all athletes who have contributed to
the team this year. The biggest success this year came from two very exceptional and talented athletes who have
qualified to represent the West Midlands at the English Schools Track and Field Championships in Sheffield on Friday
and Saturday 10/11th July with the finals televised on Sky on the Saturday. Amy Hillyard who is a very talented
200m & 800m runner who has achieved under the qualifying time of 2:19sec this season to be able to compete in
the 800m in Sheffield. Matthew Hudson-Smith who achieved his qualifying times at the West Midlands Track and
Field Championships at Alexandra Stadium in both 200m (24:20sec) & 400m (52:90sec) for the English Schools.
Matthews has PB’s of 200m (23:57) and 400m (52:1sec). We’d like to wish them the best of luck for the weekend
and also with the bright future they both have in front of them. GOOD LUCK!
Girls’ PE have had another busy year with all year groups entering the netball leagues and Years 7 - 11 being involved
with the tournaments. Football has seen pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 involved in fixtures at Aldersley where some great
football was played and excellent results achieved. The Under 14 11 a-side team made it to the final of the West
Midlands Cup and were runner up. Badminton has again been played to a high standard with the Year 9 team winning
the Wolverhampton League and coming second in a West Midlands Tournament. Cross Country has been well attended
by runners in Year 7 and 8 next year lets see if we can get more runners from 9, 10 and 11 involved. At the Tennis
City Doubles Championship the Girls’ under 15 Team performed well and out of 16 couples finished 5th, 7th and 10th.
This summer the Rounder League started with a fantastic win for the Year 9 when they beat Wolverhampton Grammar
School in a nail biting 21 1/2 to 23. Year 7 - 10 have enjoyed their rounders fixtures as much as I have and are already

looking forward to next years games. Well done Year 9 who are City
Rounders Champions after defeating Codsall High where both teams
fielded very well resulting in a very low scoring game. Athletics has
seen some good results form our year 7 and 8 girls and our year 10
relay team. Congratulations to Christina Watts(year 9) who has been
selected as a reserve for the u16 National Volleyball Squad. This is an
excellent achievement bearing in mind she is 2 years below age

group. Congratulations to Amy Hillyard Year 8 who has been achieving
excellent results in the 800m. She has represented Wolverhampton in West Midlands Schools
where she came 3rd with a new personal best of 2mins 19.8 secs. On Sunday 21st June Amy
raced in the 800m at Aldersley came 1st and set a new personal best of 2min 18.4 secs. The
time meant that she has qualified for English Schools to represent West Midlands. Well done and good luck Amy. Well

The PE department is concerned that there are other achievements that students make outside of school that we do
not get to hear about. These may be in various forms and is more often than not due to the modesty of students and
their parents. Therefore from September there will be an achievement box situated outside the Arena office where
students can drop in their achievements as soon as they happen. We would like to celebrate and congratulate you on
your achievements! Examples could be ‘belt awards in martial arts’, selection for teams, etc.

Resilience Café 2009

These are some of the sayings we have explored in RE lessons with Miss
Rai this term as part of the Resilience Café Project. As part of the project
we have studied Martin Luther King and his great achievements. We have
produced group presentations on the Montgomery Bus Boycotts and
power-point presentations on a resilient person, past or present, of our
choice. The final part of this project involved us making tributes to our
resilient people which will be part of an exhibition.
We were told the purpose of our tributes was “to learn about resilient people and honour their resilience through art,
music, spoken word and stories”. We were allowed to do any shape or form of tribute we wanted, some people have
made life-size versions of the person they are honouring, some have made videos or art work. These pieces will be on
display during an exhibition evening, on 14th July, here at S. Peter’s alongside tributes produced by the King’s School.
This has been a fantastic opportunity for us to look up to, learn about and honour these great people, past and
present. We hope we will do something like this more often as we have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and found
it highly beneficial. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Miss Rai for making this unit exciting and
different, for allowing us to be creative and supporting us in organising the exhibition. Also to Mr Bishop for giving us
permission to go through with the exhibition.

My Visit to the Normandy Celebrations


In June 2009 I went to Normandy to remember those who gave their lives so that so we could be free. This year marks
the 65th anniversary of D-Day. This was when the allied forces invaded occupied France on 6th June 1943. It was the
biggest landing operation the world has ever seen and marked the beginning of the end of the war in Europe.
I have a special interest in that my grandfather, Derek Price, took part in the landings.
My father owns a restored military vehicle and I was able to go with him to France to take part in the commemorations
along with some other owners.
My father’s vehicle is a Scammell Pioneer Recovery Lorry built in 1943, the
others were an American Ward La France Recovery lorry and a jeep.
We crossed from Britain to Normandy on the ferry, which left from Portsmouth
Harbour. We stopped in a Luc sur Mer’s sports complex where we camped with
about 100 French military vehicle enthusiasts, which was about 10 mile from
the ferry port at Ouistreham.
Our first trip was to Arromanches, which was about 20 miles away from where
we were camping. After nearly blocking up the town with the Scammell we Scammell Pioneer in the middle, Ward
la France on left and jeep on the right.
finally managed to park. Here was where a temporary harbour was built so that
supplies could get to the troops who had already landed. We then went to the
town of Benouville where there is a bridge called Pegasus bridge which crosses the Caen Canal. This is where D-Day
began as a glider squadron took the bridge and the buildings around it.
On the Saturday 6th June we went to a nearby town of Douvres la Delivrande. We travelled in convoy with the rest of
the people on the campsite where we went to the town square. Here we parked the vehicles up for a couple of hours
and we also used the Ward la France to lift the jeep off the ground by about three feet for which we received a round of
applause from the people in the square.
On the next day we took the vehicles to the village of Sannerville. Sannerville was destroyed in the Second World War.

1200tons of bombs were dropped on it in 10 minutes destroying all the buildings but one. In Sannerville we took part
in two ceremonies remembering those who were lost, and a short parade in the vehicles.
The next day we packed up and caught the ferry back to Britain.
Though it was tiring I enjoyed the experience. It will be one thing I have done in my life I will never forget.

New Buddies for 2009 - 2010


24 new Buddies have been trained in basic counselling skills, ready to support the new year 7’s as they start S. Peters
in September.
Please encourage them to ask for support if you come across anyone who needs help.
The Buddy photographs are in the entrance hall as well as in the Ginever block office. The Buddies will also be patrolling
around school, helping at Welcome Club and allocated to Lower School forms.

Business and Economics Activities


YEAR 12 ACCA BUSINESS MANAGEMENT COMPETITION
During the last term some of our Year 12 students
comprising AS Economics, Business and Applied Business
students, competed in a sixth form Business Management
Challenge at Aston University against 11 other schools. The
aim of the challenge was to set up and manage a radio
station. The students were required to budget, plan, brand,
and increase revenue for the radio station, along with other
tasks. We finished 3rd and 9th. Well done to everyone who
took part.
YEAR 10 ROLLS ROYCE BUSINESS MANAGEMENT GAME
We recently took four teams of six students to Aston
University. This was to compete in the annual Rolls Royce
GCSE Business Management Game. In teams of six, students
had to design, manufacture and sell products to a market of
buyers. They were competing against 20 other teams from
schools across the West Midlands. All of the students did
extremely well, with each team making a profit. Our best
placed finish was 7th. Well done to all of you.
BUSINESS & ECONOMICS RESIDENTIAL TO PRAGUE
Back in March, we ventured to Eastern Europe and visited
Prague for 4 days taking 35 sixth form students. Our itinerary

was as follows:
Guided tour of Prague;
An in-depth visit and guided tour of the Skoda Car
Factory;
A tour around the Crystal Glass Factory;
Guided tour around Staropramen Beer Factory;
A visit to the CERGE Institute, with a lecture on the
Czech Republic as a member of the EU.

MY MONEY WEEK (29th June – 5th July)


This is a new national initiative, where the idea is to provide
students with a knowledge and understanding of money.
The whole of Year seven took part in a PSHCE lesson where
they started to consider and encounter what money was;
how to deal with money; and what they will need to budget
for and finance in the future.
YEAR 12 CIPFA 6th FORM MANAGEMENT COMPETITION
Seven Year 12 students recently attended the University of
Wolverhampton, where they took part in a Management
Competition against five other schools from across the West
Midlands. With each student having their own designated
managerial role, the team had to partake in a range of tasks
in order to increase the revenue and student numbers at a
university. Students had to attend board meetings; complete
press releases; deal with angry MP’s and perform a
presentation to name but a few.

Dear Parents,

It is important for you as parents, to know that members of the Governing Body work extremely hard for our
school and I commend the following summaries of the work of the committees during this academic year.
As usual it has been a very busy year with many successes. I would like to thank all governors and the
whole school community for their commitment and loyalty.

A Tribute
Mrs Norden has been Chair of Governors since 2002 but has served as a governor for 18 years. She began
her career as a Parent Governor and later became a Foundation Governor. She is a passionate advocate for
inclusion, clarity, accountability and fairness in the way schools operate and has demonstrated these
qualities way before they became a national government agenda. The Voice of the Learner, Staff and Parent
have always been a top priority for her over her time as governor and many situations have been resolved
through her personal involvement. Although a volunteer, Mrs Norden’s passionate feelings for the school
have never interfered with leadership and management issues. Rather, governance has complemented
S. Peter’s Collegiate School

leadership and management resulting in an outstanding judgment for governance in the school’s Ofsted in
2007. Mrs Norden always places the learner first. She will be retiring as a governor at the end of this
academic year after 18 years of dedicated service to the school community. We thank her for her service to
our school community and wish her every blessing for the future.

Lichfield Foundation Council
Introduction
The Lichfield Foundation Action Plan for the Academic Year 2008-2009 was once again an ambitious statement of
intent, which sought to capitalise on the very significant development programmes of the past five years.
Huw Bishop, Adrian Richards, Simon Smith, Nicola Stapleton, Chris Wilkinson and I continued to meet monthly for two
hours in order to manage the implementation of this programme of action and to monitor and evaluate its progress.
Since January 2009, of course, John Allin has represented The King’s School at these meetings. All of this represents a
very significant commitment on the part of the two schools and one which amply demonstrates the high priority they
give to the work of the Foundation.
Once again I am particularly grateful to Parbhinder Kalirai who provides us with meticulously detailed notes of our
meetings and to Chris Wilkinson whose good humour and efficiency ensures that we have done all that we promised!
This in no small way ensured that last year we met all the targets in the action plan and to date we are once again on
course to achieve the same this year.

Chaplaincy.
♦ To provide a high quality Professional Development Programme for Church of England schools in the City.
♦ To plan the Foundation’s contribution to the LA’s Multi-Faith Celebration.

Conclusion

Curriculum Committee
Membership: Mr P Wadge (Chair), Mrs S Bowden, Mrs D Castle, Mrs R Griffiths, Mr P Morris, Mrs R Norden, Mrs D Polowyj,
Mrs E Stone and Mr S Walters, Mrs K Preston and Rev H Bishop are ex officio members and Mr D Cooke is a co-opted
member.
The principal responsibility of the Curriculum Committee is to ensure the delivery of a curriculum that reflects the
Christian way of life, within the framework of the National Curriculum. We are also mindful of S. Peter’s role as a church
school in a multi-faith and multi-cultural community, as we monitor the provision of Religious Education and worship
opportunities.
The committee has met three times during the course of this academic year, with one further meeting scheduled for
mid-June.
At our first meeting, in November, we reviewed thoroughly the outcomes of the 2008 external examinations at S.
Peter’s. A comprehensive analysis of each department’s results was presented to the committee and we reviewed the
analysis against targets and trends. Examination results provide us with an indication of the effectiveness of the
curriculum and we were pleased that yet again our students had performed so well. Also at our first meeting we
discussed and approved a change to the languages curriculum at Key Stage 3. The revised curriculum, which has now
been implemented, offers students one language, rather than two, at Key Stage 3. We also began to discuss how we
would implement the Government’s ideas for a re-designed curriculum at Key Stage 3 (“The New National Curriculum”)
and we set up a working group to take this further.

Curriculum Committee continued
At our second meeting, held in January, we reviewed the report from the School Self-Review that was conducted during
the Autumn Term. The Self-Review is an on-going process that ensures that lessons in each department are observed at
least once every year by the Senior Leadership Team and the Directors of Learning. Also at this meeting we approved
the Curriculum Plan for 2009/2010, which defines the allocation of teaching periods to subjects for each class. We
reviewed the report from the Autumn visit of our Local Authority School Improvement Partner (SIP). Continuing the
discussions on Key Stage 3 curriculum re-design, we heard feedback from our working group and we discussed in
further detail plans to incorporate some Project-Based Learning at Key Stage 3.
At our most recent meeting, held at the end of March, we again discussed changes to the Key Stage 3 curriculum to
incorporate some Project-Based Learning. We approved a change, to be implemented in Year 7 in September 2009,
which will introduce a themed, project-based approach in some humanities lessons. We continued the review of the
School Self-Review reports, this time looking at the Spring Term report. We also discussed the findings of the Voice of
the Learner at the Heart of the System (Whole School Survey), which was published in March.
The Diploma, including its implications for the curriculum, is monitored at every Curriculum Committee meeting. All
activities relating to Diploma development at S. Peter’s are reviewed, including the progress of the new Diploma Centre,
and the management of the curriculum.

The membership of this committee is made up of a cross section of the Full Governing Body.
As this committee deals with all the personnel issues of the school, it is necessary to have members of the Governing
Body from all walks of life. Members include the Chair and Vice Chair of Governors and the Principal as well as Mr G
Carter, Mrs D Polowyj, Mrs E Stone, Mr P Morris, Mrs R Griffiths and Mrs P Whitfield.
Most of the work is of a confidential nature and involves all aspects of employment, pay and conditions of service.

News of former students…….
Congratulations to Craig Summers on achieving a 2.1 degree in Engineering at Cambridge. Robert
Wilkinson on achieving a 2.1 degree in Mechanical Engineering at Swansea. Jim Stone - He has won the
Ede and Ravenscroft Prize for best postgraduate research student at the University of Bath. He is also a
runner up in the European Physical Society young researcher Prize in Quantum Electronics and Optics.
Congratulations to James Taylor on being awarded a 1st Honours in Sound Technology at Wolverhampton
University, to Daniel Taylor on achieving a 2.1 Honours degree in Sport Studies at Liverpool and to Jane
Woolf on achieving a 2.1 Honours degree in English at Aberystwyth. Jane goes on to do her MSc. Also to
Katrina Waterworth on gaining a 2.1 in Psychology at Bangor and Carrie Adamson who has achieved 1st
Class Honours in Physiotherapy at Chester.
Three pupils, all Choristers at St Peter's Collegiate Church, have just been awarded the top award of the
Royal School of Church Music. Beth Howells (Y 11), Robert Aros (Y 9) and Stephen Matthews (Y8) were all
awarded the RSCM Gold Award after taking a very demanding practical and viva examination in front of a
very experienced examiner, who had travelled from Edinburgh just to examine them.
