General Instructions
The projects have to be done in groups of 6 students as a maximum and 3 minimum; any individual project wont be graded. The days of the oral and written presentations are April 24th, 25th, and 26th according to the classes schedule. Civil Engineering
Soil Testing
Objective: Activity: To know the different methods of testing soil. To explain one method of soil testing.

Description: To form groups of 3 to 6 students.

The students will choose a soil test that they will investigate to acknowledge the procedure, tools and purpose of it. They will prepare an oral presentation of the investigation.
The students must prepare a written investigation with the following content: Front Page Index Introduction Objectives Investigation Conclusions Annexes (At least 10 word technical glossary) References (Bibliography)

It is compulsory to present the written report and the handbook the day of the oral presentation. Remember that the handbook must contain the summary of the investigation.

Chemical Engineering
CO2 extinguisher
Objective: To know the chemical reactions and thermodynamic properties involved or related with the CO2. Activity: To make a CO2 fire extinguisher.

Description: To form groups of 3 to 6 students. The students will research the information about the experiment they have to do and the chemical reactions and thermodynamic properties related with it. The students will make a CO2 homemade extinguisher. Objective: Activity: To know the basic process of paper and aluminum recycling. To recycle paper and aluminum

Materials Electrical and Thermal Conductivity
Objective: Activity: To identify the materials that can conduct electricity and heat. To assemble a basic circuit that lights a bulb, and demonstrate the thermal conductivity of the materials

Description To make groups of 3 to 6 students. Each group will prepare a basic circuit that lights a bulb. The students will replace a piece of wire with 10 different materials (Plastic, glass, aluminum, food, etc), later they will decide if these materials are conductive or not. The students will explain how the flashlights work and the types of bulbs can be used in flashlights and in their circuit. This must be described clearly in English in no more than 5 minutes. The students will identify and explain the characteristics of the best thermal conductors and insulators The Students must prepare a written investigation with the following content: o Front Page o Index o Introduction o Objectives o Investigation Conductivity of materials How do flashlights work? One Dimension and Two Dimension Movement
Objective: To describe in English the observations done in free fall and parabolic movement experiments. Activity: To make experiments for proving or refuting the equations of the free fall and parabolic movement. Description: To make groups of 3 to 6 students. Each group will make the experiments and they will analyze the results of them.
