RETAIL ACCOUNT MANAGER

Division: DC SEU Location: District of Columbia Department: Residential Reports to: Manager, Residential Services

JOB SUMMARY:
Recruit, develop, and maintain relationships with partners who sell, or potentially could sell, energy efficient products in support of VEICs contract goals for DCSEU. Provide training to small retailers and other businesses on the technology and sale of energy efficient products, and supply point-of purchase and marketing materials to support sales of energy efficient products. Identify possible energy efficiency, marketing and/or community outreach opportunities and coordinate CEIs (community energy initiatives) with community leaders, retail partners, and VEIC staff. Also visits small businesses to stimulate energy efficiency opportunities in this market segment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Develop and maintain positive, ongoing relationships with assigned retail partners, other businesses and local/regional community and civic organizations with strong ties to business community. Conduct regular on-site visits to retailers and provide training on product technology, sales effectiveness and marketing support materials. Proactively assess and expand upon network of retail partners in markets that will contribute to meeting DCSEUs contractual goals. Leverage relationships with highperforming partners while effectively and efficiently managing marginal contributors. Identify and recruit new retailers to become partners with DCSEU in the promotion and sale of ENERGY STAR and energy efficient products to residential, commercial and industrial customers. Enhance and leverage existing relationships through identification and development of coop advertising opportunities. Be knowledgeable about the technology and marketing of energy efficiency products and services, with particular expertise on ENERGY STAR products that DCSEU promotes through its retailer partnerships. Maintain this knowledge and expertise in energy efficiency products and services through attendance at training sessions and completion of training exercises.

Conduct outreach activities and community-based events (weekday and weekend), make presentations, as well as organize and staff special events at retailers locations or trade/home shows. Track retail partner interactions, sales and inventory levels using both internal and external contact management and reporting automation tools. Work with business and residential market teams, and other staff as necessary, to collect and disseminate retail partner information that can contribute to meeting DCSEUs contractual goals. Gather market information, including, but not limited to ENERGY STAR product sales data, product inventory and pricing. Coordinate with marketing subcontractors on a daily basis. Contribute to BES projects by looking for and identifying potential projects, initiating conversations with partners and relaying lead information back to VEIC staff. Provide support to the activities of VEIC as necessary to accomplish organizational goals and objectives. Identify opportunities for prescriptive savings among small businesses within RAMs territory. Effectively communicate with Customer Service team to assist in developing the opportunities and track progress towards measureable savings goals.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:


1. Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals and values of VEIC. 2. Associates degree in business or marketing and two years experience in a professional work environment, or a similar combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired. Retail or training experience is preferred. 3. Demonstrated skills in sales, customer service, and the ability to persuade. 4. Exemplary written and oral communication skills, including comfort and ability to professionally conduct educational and persuasive group presentations. 5. Proficiency with contact management, word processing, spreadsheet and database software. 6. Ability to handle competing priorities and proven ability to be organized, detail-oriented and accurate. 7. Demonstrated ability to obtain ongoing client commitment and bring projects to closure. 8. Familiarity or interest in learning the features and benefits of energy efficiency technologies. 9. Demonstrated ability to be organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and able to independently handle multiple projects, associated tasks and competing priorities in a remote work arrangement. 10. A valid drivers license and compliance with the Motor Vehicle Safety guidelines outlined in VEICs personnel policies.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Internal- Work is normally performed in a climate controlled office environment, , where
exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is very limited. Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of normal office equipment (computers, telephones, etc.). No known environmental hazards are encountered in normal performance of internal job duties.

External- Regular travel within the District of Columbia and possibly bordering states is
required. 95% of job requirements will be external to the office but within the District of Columbia. Occasional weekend and overnight travel may be required. Work may require exposure to commercial and industrial work environments.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work involves standing and walking for brief periods of time, but most duties are performed from a seated position. There is potential for eyestrain from reading detailed materials and computer screen. Deadlines, workloads during peak periods and changing priorities may cause increased stress levels. Work may include occasional pushing, pulling, or carrying objects weighing of approximately 40 pounds such as files, documents, and some equipment. Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboards at a moderate skill level. Repetitive motion injuries may occur. Company will provide adaptive devices as needed.
