Here , I will try to analyze how the actual effects of the elimination of english subject in elementary school, from

both positive and negative effects. we will also provide a little opinion about it , as well as matters related to it. previously, zubas has described the importance of 2013 curriculum in elementary school precisely , here we will focus more on the discussion of the last point given by zubas, that is the elimination of english in elementary school. In our opinion , this is the most important point. We know that the elimination of English from elementary school will rise many pros and cons. Lets see the reasons for both negative and positive side. If the elimination has happened, there are good effects, the first is reducing the cognitive presure of children in elementary school. So far, the student have been given quite a lot of materials and it result in some negative impacts on learning outcomes, as well as to their understanding of their own language than in a foreign language. Then the second point is that there is more and more time to learn the culture of the nation itself .it becomes a big consideration that english will shift position of bahasa indonesia as a mother tongue. It has very close relations to the point no 3 that the goverment will focus on the understanding that bahasa indonesia is mother tongue so its must be first language. However, there will also be an adverse effect to the holding of this elimination. the first is the lack of preparation for children to continue their education to the next level , as we want to get to the college level , we are also confronted with the English language test . beside that, there is also lack of preparation to face the globalization. Moreover, there is a discourse. That Indonesia will join the free market next year.so we should prepare it early. Then the second point that there will be a lot of English teachers in elementary school unemployed . This is regretfull because they also have the opportunity to teach . When this happens , its will increase the number of unemployment rate in Indonesia . The last point is wasting a golden opportunity , what does that mean ? There was a study in the California states university that Psychologically , students aged 7-12 are in the middle childhood. This phase is a golden period for learning a language

other than their mother tongue ( first language ) . Conditions of the brain is still plastic and pliable so that the absorption of the language will be much easier. This clearly shows that the ability of language sensitivity in elementary school is in its best period. So the conclusion is that we dont agree with the elimination of english in elementary school. But we dont just finish here, we will give small solution to this, the first is change the substantion of the teaching or learning process.what does thats mean? It is to change the value of the learning process. For it learning just in building new vocabulary, and the learning is packed in a good method. so that this is not to burden student cognitive, but its the fun game. And the importance is to make a bencmark, that the purpose of learning english is not to shift the position of bahasa indonesia as mother language, but this is as a tool to prepare us to face the globalization.
