Mapping of transfer function: Approximation of derivative: backward difference and bilinear transformation, impulse invariance, matched ztransform, verification for stability and linearity during mapping. Realization of IIR filters: direct form I and form II, cascade and parallel realizations. Introduction to FIR filters, design of FIR filters using window functions: rectangular, Hamming, Bartlett and Kaiser windows, Hilbert transformer and differentiator, FIR design using frequency sampling technique. Realization of FIR filters: direct form I and form II, cascade, parallel and lattice realizations. Direct computation of DFT need for FFT, Radix-2 FFT Algorithms, Decimation in Time and Decimation in Frequency FFT Algorithms Overlap save and overlap-add methods. 20 20

CYCLE I LIST OF EXPERIMENTS USING MATLAB 1. Verification of Sampling theorem. 2. To find impulse response of a given system 3. To find Linear convolution and Circular convolution of two given sequences. 4. To find Autocorrelation and Cross correlation of two given sequence / sequences. 5. To Solve a given difference equation. 6. Computation of N point DFT and IDFT of a given sequence. 7. To find Linear and circular convolution of two sequences using DFT and IDFT. 8. Design and implementation of FIR / IIR filter to meet given specifications.

CYCLE II LIST OF EXPERIMENTS USING DSP PROCESSOR 1. Linear convolution and Circular convolution of two given sequences. 2. Computation of N- Point DFT and IDFT of a given sequence 3. To find Impulse response of first order and second order system 4. Realization of an FIR filter (any type) to meet given specifications .The input can be a signal from function generator / speech signal.
