Level 1 Workshop: Introduction to Taktse Teaching
Cost: 20,000 Rs. per participant Sponsorships/Scholarships: Available Dates:Feb. 3rd to the 12th, 2014 Timing:9am to 2:30pm, Place: The campus of Taktse International School, Pangthang, E. Sikkim Transportation: Bus service will be provided daily from Hospital Dara (8am) Food: Tea, snacks and lunch will be provided

Level 1
In this introductory workshop participants will learn the basics of the Responsive Classroom methodology used at Taktse. The Responsive Classroom focuses on classroom management and relationship building techniques and strategies. The goal is to give teachers practical knowledge and an interactive experience that will make their teaching both effective and fun.

Who is this for:


This workshop is designed for a small group of teachers of KG, 1 and 2. Teachers must be ready and EXCITED to learn and grow both professionally and personally. Teachers should be ready for challenges, self-reflection and laughter. With the right attitude and support we believe everything is possible.

How to apply:
Please write an application addressed to the Principal, Taktse International School stating why you would like to participate. Include one passport sized photo. These letters may be emailed directly to d.dingtsa@taktse.org or submitted in hardcopy to the office at Taktse International School, Pangthang. If you submit in hardcopy, please send a text to Ms. Dingtsa (number below) at time of submission.

Who is leading the PD?


Ms. Dawa Dingtsa and Rai Guru Ama have been at Taktse since 2008 and have travelled to the USA twice for Professional Development, most recently during the summer of 2113 where they participated in the Responsive Classroom Training outside of Boston, Massachusetts and the SEED Training in San Francisco, California. They bring both a theoretical and practical expertise to the workshop, along with a sensitivity to the local situation.They have observed and/or received training in the following schools:

How to receive a scholarship/sponsorship:


To receive a scholarship/sponsorship for this professional development teachers must have a recommendation for their Principal, also addressed to the Principal, Taktse International School. These letters may be emailed directly to d.dingtsa@ taktse.org or given in hardcopy to the office at Taktse International School, Pangthang at the same time of application submission.

Recognition and Level 2:


Teachers who successfully complete Level 1: A. Will receive a certificate of completion from Taktse International School, B. Will receive a certificate signed by Mr. Peter Lauenstein-Denjongpa, M.Ed. Harvard C. Will be eligible to participate in Taktse Professional Development, Level 2: Implementation and Support
