平 日 は会 社 へ行く。しかし、週末は行かない。
I go to the office (lit., company) on weekdays. However, I don’t go

A disjunctive conjunction is also a word joining two contrasting
independent clauses (that is, complete sentences) into a single compound
sentence. One used very frequently in conversation is が (but ). Unlike the
English position of but at the beginning of the second clause, が attaches
to the end of the first clause; the pause in speech and the comma in writ-
ing fall after が.

I get up at 6:00 A.M. on weekdays, but I get up at 10:00 A.M.

Japanese often end sentences with this が and a trailing intonation,
expecting the listener to know what the rest of the compound sentence
would be from context.
