Dear Friends , Vanakkam ! M.T.S. Academy is a Non-Profit, Tax-Exempt, Service oriented HRD N.G.O. It is a wing of Mylai Thiruvalluvar Tamizh Sangam functioning at Mylapore, Chennai since 1986 and rendering its yeomen services to the society. We have been doing a number of projects in collaboration with Science City, Tamil Nadu Science & Technology Centre, NCSTC, New Delhi and Tamil Nadu State Council for Science & Technology, Chennai Telephones, B.S.N.L., Tamil Nadu Telecom Circle, B.S.N.L., Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., L & T ECC Division etc. We have organised State Level Science Quiz Competitions, Science Exhibitions for Chennai Corporation Higher Secondary and High School every year. We have organized a National Level Seminar on Thirukkural and Indian Literature at New Delhi and International Conference on Thirukkural in collaboration with Anna University and International Institute of Tamil Studies. We have conducted a number of courses on Personality Development, Computer Awareness, Leadership Training, Youth Clubs Development Programmes in collaboration with Chennai District NYK, Ministry of Youth affairs & Sports, Govt. of India and NSS, University of Madras. We are conducting special Programmes through M.T.S. Clubs for Children, Youth, Women, Senior Citizen and Science Clubs. We are also organising Special Symposium on a comparative study of Thirukkural and Indian literature fortnightly in Thirukkural Higher Studies and Research Centre at Chennai. We are publishing Ariviyal Poonga - a Quarterly Science Journal in Tamil since 2005. To add some more feathers, We have already conducted Fourteen Regional Workshops at Kodaikanal, Salem, Chennai, Thiruchirappalli, Coimbatore, Pudhucherry, Port-Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Pudhukottai, Namakkal, Lakshadweep, Tirunelveli, Kancheepuram, Thanjavur and Tiruchengode in association with NCSTC, New Delhi and also with the Universities and colleges at the respective area. More than 1700 Young Science Graduates were benefitted through this project. Really there was a wonderful impact among the Students, Science Writers and Journalists. So far we have covered more than 24 districts in Tamil Nadu State. Now we are organizing the Regional Workshop on Science Writing / Journalism from 4th to 8th February, 2014 at Park College of Engineering and Technology, Kaniyur, Coimbatore. In this Workshop 50 selected Science Students from Coimbatore and near by districts will be participating. The prime aim of this workshop is to popularise Science and Technological aspects to the public especially the rural people in their native language through the Media. The best 5 participants selected from this workshop will be awarded Arivukkalanjiam Prizes - Arivu Malar, Arivu Kathir, Arivu Thalir, Arivu Thulir and Arivu Puthir. All are cordially invited to attend the Inaugural and Valedictory Functions and make it a grand success.
