Job Title: Accounting Associate Part-time, variable 15-18 hours/week, hourly, non-exempt

The Accounting Associates primary responsibility is to perform routine accounting and A/P functions for the organization and provide support to the Accountant and Director of Finance. The Accounting Associate also serves as the organizations purchasing agent for office supplies. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: AP entry of pre-coded and approved invoices Working with the Director of Finance, determine the cash requirements for the first AP check run of the month, select invoices for payment, process payments and organize and attach back up Assist in weekly cash forecasting and reconciliation, which may involve processing cash receipts Maintain files, including filing of general ledger journal vouchers, cash receipts and accounts payable documentation, and other miscellaneous filings Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and Montalvos policies, procedures, internal controls and contracts Assume responsibility for effectively researching, tracking, and resolving (or properly referring) accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies Assist Accountant, Director of Finance and HR Manager as needed. Provide backup support for HR administration in their absence, such as payroll processing Inventory and order basic office supplies for organization Keep management informed of any significant accounting problems or internal control issues in the organization Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Bachelors degree and equivalent work experience Three to five years of relevant experience and proven ability with accounting systems, databases and Microsoft Office programs required (Excel, Word, Outlook) Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge software not required but a definite plus Experience with ADP Payroll System not required but a definite plus Excellent verbal and written communication skills Attention to detail and comfort with reconciliation processes Ability to work in a collaborative team environment, and with all organizational staff, volunteers, trustees, community members, vendors and park visitors. Ability to multi-task and work independently and make sound decisions, without close supervision. A passion for local history and the arts is essential.

Typical office environment; requires the ability to remain seated at a computer work station for extended periods. Some job functions may be performed outdoors. Some local travel necessary; valid drivers license and access to own vehicle required. Must occasionally lift/carry supplies weighing up to 30 lbs. May need to stand or bend to perform program support tasks. Position may require some limited evening/weekend availability. Background check clearance required.

Compensation Wage is $20-$22 per hour, based on qualifications and experience, working 15 to 18 hours per week (variable by season). Schedule of work hours is flexible, and to a degree, can accommodate outside commitments. This position is not eligible for employee health and paid-time off benefits.
