Lesson Plan in Science 3 I. OBJECTIVE To identify the parts of a plant and its functions.

. To draw the parts of plants To have care about plants SUBJECT MATTER A. Topic: Parts Of A Plant B. References: Growing With Science And Health 3 Pp. 108-111 C. Science Concept/s: Roots hold plants in place. They absorb water and minerals from the soil. Stem supports the plant. It holds the leaves, flowers, and fruits. It carries the water and minerals absorbed by the roots from the soil to the different parts of the plant. Leaves manufacture food for the plants using the energy of sunlight. Flower is the reproductive structure of the plant Seed is the start of the new plant. D. Processes: Identifying, Describing, Communicating, Comparing E. Materials: Visual Aids, Cutouts, Video Clips F. Value Infusion: Caring Of Plants PROCEDURES Guided Inquiry 1. Review Teacher Pupils Amen. Good morning Maam Thank you! (Pupils be seated)

II.

III. I.

Stand up class and let us pray Good morning class You may take your seat Do you still remember what we had learned yesterday? What is it all about?

Yes Maam! It is all about different properties of liquids

Very good! What are those different properties of liquid? Liquids occupy space and take the shape of its container; it has mass; liquids flow and have taste, color, smell and thickness.

Very Good! 2. Motivation It seems that you really understand our lesson yesterday. We are now going to proceed to our

next topic. But, before that lets play a game first. Do you want to play a game class? Okay! I will group you into two. This will be the group one and the other is group two. What you are going to do is to rearrange the letters in the board to form a sentence that consists of four words. The first group to make it faster wins. It depends upon to you the number of pupils that will complete the tasks. Okay is that clear? Very good! The game begins! (game proper) Because the group _____ finish the task faster They are the winners. Give them a hand. Did you enjoy the game class? Very good! 3. Science Vocabulary Okay class! Will you please read the sentence? Everybody read! Very good! Do you want to know the different common parts of a plant? Okay! You will know that as we come along watching this video clip. I want you to remain in silence as you watch this video. You can write down necessary facts from the video. Is that clear? Very good! (film viewing) Okay class did you enjoy watching the video Clip? Yes Maam (film viewing) Yes Maam Yes Maam Plants have common parts (pupils clapping) Yes Maam Yes Maam (pupils start) Yes Maam!

Alright! What are the parts of plants?

The parts of a plant are roots, stem, leaves, flower and seed.

Very good! What is the function of the roots roots hold the plants and absorb water and minerals from the soil

Very well! How about the function of stem? What does it holds? It holds the leaves, flowers and fruits.

Very good! Besides of holding the leaves, Flowers, and fruits, what is the other function of Stem? It carries the water and minerals absorbed by the roots from the soil to the different parts of the plant.

Excellent! How about manufacturing of food? What part of the plant is necessary in manufacturing their own food? The leaves manufacture food for plants using the energy of sunlight They combine water from the soil with carbon dioxide from the air to form sugar.

Thats it! How do leaves manufacture foods?

Very good! Aside from roots, leaves and stem, What are the other parts of the plant? Other plants have flowers, fruits and seeds. It is the reproductive structure of the plant.

Alright! What is a flower then? Thats it! Why does flower called the reproductive structure of the plant?

Because it produces the fruits and seeds that grow into new plants. Seeds are commonly found inside the fruit. A seed is the start o the new plant. Because, when seeds are planted and receive sunlight,

Very good! Where can you find seeds?

Very good! What is a seed then?

Very good! Why seed is the start of the new plant?

water, and air, they grow into young plants. Very well explained! 4. Presentation a. Presentation of materials I have two pictures here, a gumamela plant and a mango tree. What you are going to do is to observe the picture and draw the parts of each. And then answer the questions below the Activity sheet that I am going to give to you. Is that clear? b. Statement of the problem Our main problem in this activity is What are the parts of a plant? Again, Will you please read our main problem? Very good! c. Setting of standards Each group will be given five minutes to complete the tasks. If the tasks will do just by one pupil then it is impossibel to finish on time. So, I want the cooperation of all members of the group to make this possible. You may talk aloud but be sure that you speak in english. Is that clear? Very good d. Distribution of Activity Card This group will be the group one and the other is group two I am now going to distribute the activity sheet to you. Please read carefully the instructions and answer the following questions completely. Yes Maam What are the parts of a plant? Yes Maam

II.

Guided Exploration 1. Activity Proper (the pupils do the activity)

Okay times up! Each group will choose a leader to present their work Very good! 2. Analysis What are the parts of the gumamela plant? The parts of a gumamela plant are roots, stem, leaves and flowers (pupils present their work)

Very good! What about the parts of The mango tree the parts of the mango tree are roots, stem, leaves, fruits and seeds

Very good! Do they have similar parts? What are they? They both have roots, stem and leaves.

Very good! What are the parts of the gumamela Plant that are not found in the mango tree? flowers

How about the parts of mango tree cannot find In the gumamela plant? Very good! III. Guided Discovery 1. Generalization Yes Maam! The common parts of a plant are roots, stem, leaves, flowers, fruits and seeds Fruits and seeds

Class do you understand our lesson for today? Again what are the parts of a plant?

Very good! What is the function of the roots? To absorb water and minerals from the soil

Very good!

What is the function of the stem?

It carries the water and minerals absorbed by the roots to the different parts of the plant Leaves are responsible in making food for plants

Very good! What is the function of the leaves?

Very good! What about the function of the Flower? It is the reproductive structure of the plant. It is the start of the new plant.

Very good! What is the function of the seed? Very good! 2. Application Okay class, this time I want you to draw and label the parts of the mango tree. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Trunk Flowers Leaves Fruits Roots

(pupils draw and label the parts of the mango tree) Very good! 3. Valuing Do you think it is necessary for us to plant more Trees? If trees will totally gone what will happen? Yes maam There will be no shelter for animals and fresh air to breath

In order to take care of plants and tress, what Should we do? We should stop cutting trees. Instead we should take care of them and plant more trees.

Very good! IV. EVALUATION

Class answer this on your quiz notebook A. Identify the parts of the plant being describe. Write your answer on your notebook. 1. it is responsible for manufacturing food for plants

2. it serves as the start of the new plant 3. it absorbs water and minerals from the soil 4. it carries the water and minerals absorbed by the roots from the soil to the different parts of the plant 5. it serves as the reproductive structure of the plant 6. it sometimes contains seed. (pupils answer to activity A 1. Leaves 2. Seeds, 3. Roots, 4.stem, 5. Flower, 6. fruits) Very good V. ASSIGNMENT

For your assignment (teacher posts the assignment) Will you please read ? Answer Work These Out A and B on your textbook page 111 Is there any questions for that? Very good Lets stand up and pray! Goodbye class! Amen Good bye Maam (pupil read) None!
