Analytical Essay Definition: An analytical essay seeks to explore a central idea or question based on a text(s) and a student's engagement

with that text. Key to the analysis is breaking down the text into components and showing the relationship between the subordinate arguments and overall controlling ideas. It must move beyond summary, description, or narration. Descriptive Essays The purpose of a descriptive essay is to describe a person, place, or thing in such vivid detail that the reader can easily form a precise mental picture of what is being written about. The author may accomplish this by using imaginative language, interesting comparisons, and images that appeal to the senses.

Interpretative essay An essay that summarizes the literary work of a particular author, the interpretive essay must provide the audience with the name of the author, title of the work, and a brief summary of the literary work. It must provide a clear interpretation of the message and purpose of the work, and it must have details, evidence and quotes to support the interpretation. A narrative essay is a mode of writing that allows the writer to sound more like themselves or to write about themselves. It is written in first person and allows the writer to share many details of an event that happened. It can also be a personal experience. This type of essay should have a plot, a character, a setting, a climax and an ending. It should also include many descriptive words and detail to make it more engaging to a reader.Narrative essays are often the basis for longer autobiographical works. A typical autobiographical narrative will consist of essays that highlight the major events or time periods of a person's life.Using the narrative style introduces the idea of personal bias into an essay. If the author doesn't hold an accredited degree in the subject matter that is being discussed or doesn't have significant personal experience outside of the subject matter of the essay the bias may undermine the purpose of the writing.Another possible problem with the narrative essay is the lack of objective opinion. This is a necessary part of a narrative essay as it is essentially telling a story from an individual point of view. The author bias implied by a narrative essay can be overlooked only in light of incontrovertible evidence in support of the author's assumptions and conclusions. While most narrative essays are stories there are other times when this structure is used, mainly in reports. An instructor may ask for a book report or a company may want a production report - both of these would be written in the first person style of a narrative essay. No matter what the reason for the essay make sure it does the following things: It has a clear introduction, follows a structured pattern and answers whatever questions are asked in the introduction by the end of the conclusion.More reference links: An informative essay is a piece of writing that is intended to educate the reader on a particular topic.
