Business Today listed Mody as one of the 25 most powerful business women in India several times since [4][3] [6] September 2004 through 2011. She is a recipient of the Financial ExpressKnowledge Professional of the Year Award. She was also named one of India's 100 Most Powerful CEOs by The Economic Times in 2004 and 2006. She is also the recipient of the Economic Times Awards for Corporate Excellence as the Businesswoman of the Year, 2010. The awards are given out every year and are seen as the foremost authority in [7] recognizing excellence in the Indian corporate market.

She has also received the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award (2002), the 'Business Woman of the Year' Award from the Indian Business Leadership Award committee, CNBC-TV18 (2006), the Indian Merchants' Chamber Diamond Jubilee Endowment Trust'sEminent Businessperson of the Year Award(2006) and [3] the 'Corporate Leadership Award' by the American India Foundation (2005). She also received an honorary Doctorate of Science in 2004, from her alma mater, Ballarat University, in recognition of her contributions to biotechnology, apart from being awarded honorary doctorates from University of Abertay, Dundee, UK (2007), University of Glasgow, UK (2008) and Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK (2008). She also received honorary doctorate from Davangere University in July 2013 in recognition of her contribution in the field of Biotechnology.
