International Conference on Engaging the Learner: Rethinking Education February 10-12, 2014

Call for Papers Teachers play a pivotal role in the development of a society. Developing them professionally means to secure the future of the next generation. The quality of Teacher Education programs has been questioned for the last few decades, and the teaching learning process in majority of Pakistani classroom is content focused, textbook geared and thoroughly teacher centered. Students are the silent spectators of the teaching learning activities that run in the classroom. They do not participate, construct, and share their opinions in the classroom activities in majority of the cases. The teacher flies the educational plane alone without the active participation of the students. Learning is not an empowering, enjoying and creative activity for the learner because s/he is not involved in the learning process. Engaging the learner in the classroom is a great challenge for the teacher. The Education Department of FJWU in collaboration with HEC is organizing an international conference on the topic: Engaging the Learner: Rethinking of Education on February 10-12, 2014. It aims to contribute in the national efforts for dealing with the issues relevant to education with a view to mobilize educationists to come together, deliberate, discuss as part of national effort to develop resources to deal with the situation.
