2014-2015 JOINT LEGISLATIVE BUDGET HEARING Human Services

Tuesday, February 4 - 1:00 P.M HEARING ROOM B, LEGISLATIVE OFFICE BUILDING, ALBANY
Senate Finance Committee Chair John A. DeFrancisco and Assembly Ways and Means Committee Chair Herman D. Farrell, Jr. today announced that the seventh Joint Legislative Hearing in a series of 13 hearings will be held on Tuesday, February 4. During the Human Services Hearing, which is part of the legislative process to review the 2014-2015 Executive Budget, human service agency officials and representatives of human service advocacy organizations will have an opportunity to address the Senate and Assembly fiscal committees. These joint legislative hearings will continue through Tuesday, February 11 and are available for live viewing on the Senate and Assembly websites and the Legislative Channel (available on cable systems throughout the state), but will be preempted when the houses are in session. At the conclusion of the legislative deliberations, live televised coverage of the hearings will resume. Among those expected to testify are Sheila Poole, acting commissioner, New York State Office of Children & Family Services; Kristin Proud, commissioner, New York State Office of Temporary & Disability Assistance; Corinda Crossdale, acting director, New York State Office for the Aging; Sheila Harrigan, executive director, New York Public Welfare Association; Stacy Osborne, chairperson, New York State Childrens Alliance; and James Purcell, CEO, Council of Family Child Caring Agencies. Testimony also will be provided by Marie Dolfi, LCSW advocacy chairperson, NYS Citizens Coalition for Children; Stephanie Gendell, associate executive director, Citizens Committee for Children of New York; Shelly Nortz, deputy executive director for policy, Coalition for the Homeless; Annetta Seecharron, director of Policy and Advocacy, United Neighborhood Houses; Jennifer Hadlock, Community Voices Heard, Welfare & Workforce Organizer; and Bill Gettman, CEO, St. Catherines Center for Children. In addition, testimony also has been scheduled from NYS Chief of Police Association Executive Director John Greibert, Fight Crime Invest in Kids; Susan Antos, senior attorney, Empire Justice Center; Maclain Berhaupt, state advocacy director, Supportive Housing Network of New York; Jonathan Lang, director of Governmental Projects, Empire State Pride Agenda.
