AGENDA AT A GLANCE
DAY ONE:

DATA: The key revenue growth driver in Eastern Europe

Today mobile broadband subscriptions in Eastern Europe account for 24% of total subscriptions which indicates that there is a sufficient room for growth. The state of mobile broadband development varies with some markets still deploying 3G networks, while others making first steps in LTE rollout. Spectrum availability remains one of the key challenges in mobile broadband rollout. LTE net additions in Eastern Europe continue to be relatively low, compared to Western Europe. While in Western Europe LTE subscriptions grew almost sixfold within a year, reaching more than 6.6 million in 3Q13, in Eastern Europe LTE subscriptions increased two and a half times to 1.5 million. Despite the certain challenges, the demand for data services grows and as devices, especially smartphones become more affordable and mobile broadband coverage in Eastern Europe expands data revenues will continue to increase. Informa estimates that data revenues will reach USD 31.3 million by 2018.
