Product Overview
IronSync Server is a powerf/l file synchronization server providin# m/ltiple types of periodic and real'time file synchronization operations. IronSync is a hi#hly scala6le file synchronization sol/tion especially desi#ned to effectively synchronize h/#e file systems containin# tens of millions of files. 1sers are provided with m/ltiple one'way and two'way file synchronization modes8 periodic and real'time file synchronization capa6ilities8 .'3ail notifications8 error lo#s8 file synchronization statistics reports8 etc.
IronSync is optimized for modern hardware architect/res and is capa6le of effectively /tilizin# m/lti'core C!1s and m/lti'C!1 servers while synchronizin# millions of files in real'time. -n the other hand8 IronSync Server is especially desi#ned to r/n on prod/ction servers /sin# a very small amo/nt of the system memory 9 3:'$3:; and C!1 reso/rces in order to minimize the performance impact on r/nnin# prod/ction applications.
IronSync Server r/ns as a service in the 6ac2#ro/nd and provides a client <1I application8 a command line /tility and a we6'6ased mana#ement interface allowin# one to control8 confi#/re and mana#e one or more IronSync Servers locally or thro/#h the networ2. The /ser is provided with the a6ility to set/p m/ltiple file synchronization commands8 specify excl/de directories8 synchronize specific types of files8 c/stomize error recovery options8 ena6le error lo#s and=or send .'3ail notifications when a sync command fails d/e to a hardware pro6lem.

Product Installation Procedure
IronSync Server is especially desi#ned to 6e as simple as possi6le. The prod/ct does not re>/ire any third'party software applications and may 6e installed and confi#/red within a co/ple of min/tes. , f/lly f/nctional 3+'days trial version of IronSync Server may 6e downloaded from the followin# pa#e? http?==www.ironsync.com=downloads.html.
The installation pac2a#e is very small8 3: ' "3: dependin# on the tar#et operatin# system8 and the prod/ct re>/ires @/st 2+3: of the free dis2 space on the tar#et server. In order to install IronSync Server8 start the set/p pro#ram8 select a destination directory and press the A0extA 6/tton.
-ptionally8 enter c/stom server control and=or we6 access ports. The server control port is /sed 6y the IronSync client <1I application and the command line /tility to connect to the server and the we6 access port is the port for the we6'6ased mana#ement interface allowin# one to control IronSync Server /sin# a standard we6 6rowser. If IronSync Server sho/ld 6e controlled remotely thro/#h the networ28 ma2e s/re one or 6oth of these ports are open in the serverAs firewall.

Using IronS nc !lient "UI #$$lication
The IronSync Server client <1I application provides the a6ility to confi#/re and control file synchronization commands8 set/p periodic file synchronization operations8 c/stomize file synchronization lo#s and error handin# options. The client <1I application may 6e /sed to control one or more IronSync Servers locally or via the networ2.
The IronSync client <1I application shows the stat/s of confi#/red file synchronization operations in the top view and the IronSync Server messa#e lo# in the 6ottom view. In order to add a file synchronization command8 press the A,ddA 6/tton located on the main tool6ar8 select an appropriate command type and specify a /ni>/e file sync command name. -n the file synchronization command dialo#8 specify the so/rce and destination directories8 select an appropriate file synchronization mode and press the ASaveA 6/tton.
In order to man/ally start one or more file synchronization commands8 select the re>/ired commands in the sync commands view8 press the ri#ht mo/se 6/tton and select the AStart CommandA men/ item. In order to stop a previo/sly started file synchronization command8 select the command in the sync commands view8 press the ri#ht mo/se 6/tton and select the AStop CommandA men/ item.

!eriodic file synchronization commands may 6e a/tomatically tri##ered /sin# one or more periodic8 daily8 wee2ly or monthly sync tri##ers. In order to confi#/re sync tri##ers for a periodic file synchronization command8 open the command options dialo# and select the A<eneralA ta6. The A<eneralA ta6 shows the c/rrently confi#/red sync tri##ers and allows one to add8 delete8 ena6le8 disa6le and confi#/re an /nlimited n/m6er of sync tri##ers.
In order to add a new sync tri##er for a periodic file synchronization command8 press the A,dd Tri##erA 6/tton8 select a tri##er type8 specify all the re>/ired parameters and press the A-2A 6/tton. In order to chan#e a previo/sly confi#/red sync tri##er8 select the sync tri##er in the tri##ers view8 press the ri#ht mo/se 6/tton and select the A.dit Tri##erA men/ item. Simple periodic sync tri##ers provide the a6ility to exec/te a sync command every B min/tes or ho/rs. *aily tri##ers provide the a6ility to exec/te a sync command every day at a specified time. In order to exec/te a sync command twice per day at different times8 the /ser can add two daily tri##ers with each one confi#/red to tri##er the sync command at a different time.
5ee2ly tri##ers provide the a6ility to specify days of the wee2 and a time of the day to exec/te the sync command. 3/ltiple wee2ly tri##ers may 6e /sed to exec/te the sync command at different times on different wee2 days. In addition8 /sers are provided with monthly sync tri##ers allowin# one to exec/te a sync command on specific days of month. Finally8 IronSync provides a sin#le time sync tri##er allowin# one to exec/te a sync command one time only at a specified date and time.

In order to ena6le a/to start for a real'time file synchronization command8 select the command in the commands view8 press the ri#ht mo/se 6/tton8 select the A.dit CommandA men/ item8 select the A<eneralA ta6 and select the A,/to StartA command option.
, real'time file synchronization command may 6e confi#/red to synchronize specific types of files or file #ro/ps /sin# flexi6le file matchin# r/les. In order to add one or more file matchin# r/les to a real'time file synchronization command8 open the command options dialo#8 select the A&/lesA ta68 press the A,ddA 6/tton and select an appropriate r/le type. For example8 the /ser is provided with the a6ility to sync all types of doc/ments with the file size more than B 3: and=or a text pattern in the file name.

IronSync provides a lar#e n/m6er of advanced file synchronization options allowin# one to c/stomize file synchronization operations for /ser'specific needs and hardware confi#/rations. In order to open the file synchronization options dialo#8 select a file synchronization command in the sync commands view8 press the ri#ht mo/se 6/tton and select the A.dit CommandA men/ item.
The A#dvancedA ta6 allows one to control the n/m6er of parallel file synchronization threads8 the n/m6er of parallel directory scannin# threads8 the performance mode and the file synchronization preview mode8 which may 6e /sed to test advanced file synchronization options 6efore exec/tin# file synchronization operations on prod/ction data.
The AO$tionsA ta6 provides the a6ility to control which meta data is synchronized when files are copied from one directory to another. In addition8 the /ser is provided with the a6ility to ena6le the 6it'level file synchronization option for any file synchronization command. 5ith this option ena6led8 IronSync Server will compare and /pdate individ/al data 6loc2s in files that sho/ld 6e synchronized th/s minimizin# the amo/nt of data written to the dis2. Finally8 IronSync Server provides the a6ility to verify the inte#rity of copied files 6y comparin# hash si#nat/res of so/rce and destination files after each file copy operation.

Sometimes8 it may 6e re>/ired to synchronize specific types of files or #ro/ps of files accordin# to /ser'specific needs and re>/irements. IronSync provides a lar#e set of file matchin# r/les allowin# one to synchronize files 6y the file type8 extension8 size8 file name8 directory8 attri6/tes8 /ser name8 etc. The /ser is provided with the a6ility to add a n/m6er of file matchin# r/les to any file synchronization operation specifyin# which files to synchronize.
For example8 IronSync allows one to synchronize all types of doc/ment files with the file size more than B 3: and a text pattern in the file name. The /ser is provided with the a6ility to com6ine different types of file matchin# r/les and lo#ical operators precisely selectin# files that sho/ld 6e synchronized.
In addition to positive file matchin# r/les8 the /ser is provided with ne#ative file matchin# r/les8 which can 6e /sed to excl/de specific types or #ro/ps of files from the file synchronization process. For example8 IronSync allows one to excl/de all types of ima#es owned 6y a specific /ser and havin# the system file attri6/te. 7ario/s types of positive and ne#ative file matchin# r/les may 6e com6ined into sophisticated8 m/lti'level file filters precisely selectin# which files to synchronize and which files to excl/de from the file synchronization process.

Sometimes8 it may 6e re>/ired to excl/de one or more s/6directories from the file synchronization process. For example8 if yo/ need to synchronize two directories excl/din# one or two special s/6directories8 yo/ may specify the top level directories as the so/rce and destination directories and add the s/6directories that sho/ld 6e s2ipped to the excl/de list.
In order to add one or more directories to the excl/de list8 open the file synchronization command options dialo#8 select the A.xcl/deA ta6 and add one or more directories to the excl/de directories list. ,ll files and s/6directories located in the specified excl/de directories will 6e excl/ded from the file synchronization process. In addition8 advanced /sers are provided with a n/m6er of excl/de directories macro commands allowin# one to excl/de m/ltiple directories /sin# a sin#le macro command. IronSync provides a n/m6er of file synchronization lo#s and error notification options allowin# one to 2eep file synchronization operations /nder control. In order to ena6le error .'3ail notifications for a file synchronization command8 open the file synchronization command dialo#8 select the A3iscA ta68 select the ASend .rror 0otificationsA option and specify an .'3ail address to send error notifications to. In addition8 in order to ena6le .'3ail notifications8 the /ser needs to open the A-ptionsA dialo#8 select the A.'3ailA ta6 and specify an S3T! server to /se to send .'3ail notifications.
.rror .'3ail notifications are sent when a file synchronization operation is a6orted d/e to a critical error s/ch as no dis2 space on the destination device or when there are too many non' critical errors. In addition to error .'3ail notifications8 the /ser is provided with the a6ility to save file synchronization error lo#s in a /ser'specified directory. Finally8 in order to simplify testin# of sophisticated file synchronization operations8 IronSync provides the a6ility to save f/ll file synchronization lo#s incl/din# all file synchronization actions performed 6y a file synchronization operation.
File synchronization lo#s and error notifications may 6e ena6led for each file synchronization command individ/ally and #lo6ally for all file synchronization commands on the IronSync Server A-ptionsA dialo#. File synchronization lo#s and error notifications options specified for a file synchronization command ta2e precedence over #lo6al file synchronization lo#s and error notification options specified on the IronSync Server A-ptionsA dialo#.

3.10 !onnecting to a re*ote IronS nc Server

The IronSync client <1I application allows one to control one or more IronSync Servers locally or via the networ2. In order to connect to a remote IronSync server8 open the client <1I application8 press the AConnectA 6/tton located on the main tool6ar and specify a host name or an I! address of the server to connect to.
In order to prevent /na/thorized access to the IronSync Server8 all comm/nication 6etween the client <1I application and the remote IronSync server is performed /sin# an ,.S'2) encrypted networ2 protocol with randomly selected and dynamically chan#ed 2eys for each session. :y defa/lt8 the IronSync client <1I application /ses the TC!=I! port (1%2 to connect to the IronSync Server and in order to 6e a6le to connect thro/#h the networ28 the port sho/ld 6e open in the serverAs firewall.
5hen the IronSync client <1I application is connected to a server8 the name of the server is displayed on the stat/s 6ar8 the sync commands view shows file synchronization commands confi#/red on the server and the messa#e lo# view shows last stat/s messa#es from the IronSync server. In order to see more information a6o/t the IronSync Server8 select the men/ A4elp ' ,6o/tA and the IronSync client <1I application will display serverAs A,6o/tA dialo#.

3.11 Using IronS nc to S nc2roni3e 8etwor= S2ares

:y defa/lt8 the IronSync service is confi#/red to r/n /nder the local system acco/nt8 which is #ood to synchronize local dis2s and directories. -n the other hand8 the local system acco/nt does not have permissions to access networ2 shares and 0,S stora#e devices. In order to ena6le IronSync Server to synchronize files to networ2 shares and 0,S stora#e devices8 the IronSync service sho/ld 6e confi#/red to r/n /nder a /ser acco/nt8 which has permissions to create files and directories on the re>/ired networ2 shares.

IronSync Server /ses the TC!=I! port (1%2 as the defa/lt server control port and the TC!=I! port $+ as the defa/lt we6 access port. Sometimes8 these ports may 6e in /se 6y some other software prod/cts or system services. If one or 6oth of these ports are in /se8 IronSync will 6e /na6le to operate properly and the /ser needs to chan#e the IronSync server control port and=or we6 access port.
In order to set a c/stom server control port and=or we6 access port8 clic2 on the ASet/p Server !ortsA lin2 located on the main settin#s pa#e8 select the A1se C/stom !ortA option and enter a c/stom port n/m6er to /se. If the IronSync server sho/ld 6e controlled thro/#h the networ28 ma2e s/re the c/stom ports are open in the serverAs firewall.

In order to 6e a6le to set c/stom -.3 prod/ct and vendor information8 the /ser needs to re#ister the prod/ct /sin# a special -.3'.na6led /nloc2 2ey8 which may 6e p/rchased on the prod/ct p/rchase pa#e. -nce the prod/ct is re#istered /sin# an -.3 /nloc2 2ey8 open the A,6o/tA pa#e8 press the ASet -.3 InfoA 6/tton8 specify yo/r c/stom -.3 prod/ct and vendor information and press the ASaveA 6/tton.
