ECHUNGA NETBALL CLUB 2013 PRESIDENTS REPORT The 2012 Presidents Report brought to a close the Year of the

Shed with the exception of the lighting required to truly call the task completed. Only days before our last AGM, the shed had its first official use as the All British Day utilised it for stall holders. Our Club met another major goal during the 2013 season. With the assistance of a Loan from the Echunga Recreation Grounds Committee, not only did we light our shed in time for the winter season, we also repaid that Loan before the end of the Netball Club financial year. Our thanks to the Echunga Rec Grounds Committee (ERGC) for their ongoing support. The Official Opening, hosted by Kym Adams, was held on the evening of the first match of the season and was a testament to the years of work put into achieving the outcome our Club can now enjoy for years to come. It was a lovely touch for our oldest Life Member, Noreen Lowe, to cut the ribbon at the Opening. On the court our Club was well represented again every week. Our return to the A Grade competition was rewarded with a Grand Final berth after a tough season. The As along with our 13 Div 3s played strong & hard fought Grand Finals. Premiership success was celebrated by our 17 Div 2 and 15 Div 3 teams. Congratulations to all of you; the Coaches, Team Managers & players who represented our Club with pride not only in the Grand Final but all season. Thanks must also go to our many supporters who continue to cheer our Club at Woodside, regardless of weather conditions. A special thanks to Emma Crowder who has guided our 9&U teams for the past 5 years on those cold, wet mornings at Woodside. Emma, you can have a bit of a sleep in now!!! Our Net Set Go programme was successful with Alex Bradley once again taking on that role. We continue to lead the way in Umpire development and communication ensures all of our members are kept up to date. Our Club is one of the strongest supporters of both the Mt Lofty Academy and Mid Hills Representative teams encouraging our players to aim for higher honours at every opportunity. To the players who represented Mt Lofty and Mid Hills in 2013, you did an amazing job. Your skills and confidence will only grow from the experience. We are well represented again in the 2014 teams and squads. To all players that trialled, be proud of your efforts, the experience will help you grow. At Association level, we were well represented in the Mid Hills individual awards. Congratulations to: Jess Bell - B1 B&F Lucy Northcott - 17 Div 2 B&F Chloe Schaefer - 15 Div 3 & 13 Div 1 R/up B&F Grace Crowder - 13 Div 3 R/Up B&F Carolyn Downing - League & Mid Hills Whistle Award Ashleigh Broadbent - Mid Hills Junior Whistle Award A Grade - Recipients of the Day/Weddell Award for most combined B&F votes in A Grade Our Sponsors continue to support us and they grow in numbers each year. Thank you to our tirelessly working Committee. You have all taken on the task of running the Club with passion and good humour. Our fundraising efforts were again magnificent with the addition of hosting the Mid Hills Presentation Dinner at the Golf Clubrooms. Led by Jo Hayhurst and Sophie Bungey our Club put on a great meal with eager and willing helpers both in the kitchen and dining area, drawing much praise from the whole Association. Every task the Committee, parents and players undertake, small and unnoticed by many most of the time, but none the less very important to our Club which enables us to put our players on the court each week. The strength of our Club lies in the ability to not only set short or long term goals on and off the court but in the members of our Club that truly work for the Club. To borrow a quote from one of our members last year I do it because I love our Club. We need YOU to put your hand up, take on a job, support our Club & be there when we need you to be to allow us to provide access to our sport and ensure our success continues.
