Sarah Prince Womens Bible Study Isaiah 1 Isaiah 1: Isaiah receives a VISION: What is a vision from God?

? How do you know when its a vision and not just your own dream? Isaiah 1:2-9: Gods people have been rebellious: We see in Isaiah 1 that God makes his case and then offers a cure. Heaven and earth are a jury and God will bring his case against them Romans 8:22, We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. All of creation is groaning and waiting for the Messiah to fully rule the earth and our disobedience delays what the Lord wants to do God talks about his children and the disobedience they have brought to his heart o How does it feel as a parent when our children disobey us? How do you think God feels? God lays out the disobedience before His children; He is not going to hide it. God says their sickness and sin has brought pain upon them. He talks about all the pain Judah is experiencing; almost that God has made it obvious what happens when we are separate from Him Still Gods people choose disobedience and to walk in their own path Isaiah 1:10-15: Their worship has become corrupt o God speaks about how they are still worshipping but their worshipping is corrupt o Sometimes we are worshipping other idols and gods instead of the holy God. o Even worse, sometimes we can be in the house of God, looking as though we are worshipping God but really our hearts are far from God and our worship is offensive to Him. Isaiah 1:17: God shows them how to come back to him; the Lord offers a cure

o We first come to God and we are cleaned and made whole by Him. There is no other way to be made pure o Then second, we go and show our love to others o 1 John 4:10, If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. God cares about the oppressed. It is what first moved him to get the Israelites out of Egypt. And now the Israelites have the power and forgotten to take care of the oppressed in their own world. Isaiah 1:18: Jesus invites us to come and be made clean Even though God is just and must show His people their sin, He is filled with grace and will make their sins white as snow Isaiah doesnt yet know the fullness of grace that will be given in the Messiah, but he does share Gods heart to make us clean and new He wants us to see clearly our sin not to rub our faces in it, but to fully walk away from it and choose wholeness and love in HIM. Charles Spurgeon talks about Gods desire for us to COME NOW: Come now, no season can be better. If ye tardy till youre better, ye will never come at all. Come now; you may never have another warning; the heart may never be so tender as it is to-day. Come now; no other eyes may ever weep over you; no other heart may ever agonize for your salvation. Come now, now, now, for tomorrow you may never know in this world. Death may have sealed your fate, and the once filthy may remain filthy still. Come now; for to-morrow thy heart may become harder than stone, and God may give thee up. Come now; it is Gods time; to-morrow is the devils time. Today if ye will hear his voice harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, when your fathers tempted me and proved me in the wilderness and saw my works. Come now. Why delay to be happy? Would you put off your wedding-day? Will you postpone the hour when you are pardoned and delivered? Come now Isaiah 1:19-23: Still given the choice Gods people walk away o Even though Gods people are offered forgiveness, they turn still away in rebellion o This is the unfortunate truth, that even though we clearly see the love of God, we still often choose to walk away from it o God then will purify His people, but it will come through fire.
