Private Cello Lessons Agreement

This document certifies an agreement between Nathan Bontrager and ________________

for private cello lessons with the following stipulations:

Lessons will occur on M / T / W / Th / F / Sa / Su at _______________ at the following

location: Milford / New Haven / home address: ________________________________.

Lessons will be for a duration of 30 / 45 / 60 minutes at the rate of $20 / $30 / $40 per
lesson. Payment will be made weekly / monthly / per term / annually.
• Weekly payments are at the set rate listed above and must be paid at the
beginning of each lesson in order to receive instruction.
• Monthly payments must be made at the first lesson of the month with respect to
the number of lessons (4 or 5) which occur in that given month. A discount of
$10 / $15 / $20 will be given out of the entire monthly cost, depending on lesson
length, regardless of whether payment is for 4 or 5 lessons.
• Per term payments refer to a larger space of time which generally follows the
academic calendar. Options include:
o Fall term: Allows for 17 lessons in 18 weeks from September –
December. A discount of $50 / $75 / $100 will be given out of the entire
term cost, depending on lesson length.
o Spring term: Allows for 20 lessons in 21 weeks from January – May. A
discount of $60 / $90 / $120 will be given out of the entire term cost,
depending on lesson length.
• Annual payments refer to the academic year; 37 lessons from September – May.
A discount of $150 / $200 / $250 will be given out of the entire annual cost,
depending on lesson length.

Lateness Policy

Both student and instructor are expected to show up on time for lessons. Lessons must
end at the appointed time (that is, a 60 minute lesson beginning at 4:00 pm always ends at
5:00 pm) regardless of any delay in start time unless prior arrangements are made. Full
payment must be made for any lessons truncated due to tardiness on the part of the
student. If the instructor arrives late any missed lesson time from the beginning of the
lesson will be made up at the end of the lesson, if possible, or at a future lesson. If the
instructor arrives more than half of the total lesson time late (15 minutes late for a 30
minute lesson, etc.) then that lesson will be given for free or refunded if payment has
already been made.

Rescheduling and Cancellation Policy

For the following, advance notice of at least 24 hours must be given of lesson
cancellation. Cancellation notice given within 24 hours or lessons missed without
notification will not be refunded and, if rescheduled, will be charged the full lesson cost
for the rescheduled lesson in addition to any payment already made. Lessons rescheduled
in this way will not count towards any maximum number of rescheduled lessons without
penalty stipulated below.

If a student must miss a lesson and wishes to reschedule the following restrictions apply
based on payment. If possible, the instructor will try to be flexible and make further
accommodations; however, such situations are subservient to the following:
• If paying per lesson, there are no guarantees for rescheduled lessons. If possible,
up to two lessons per term (see above for term time frames) may be rescheduled
at the same per lesson cost. Any further rescheduled lessons will be charged at
the rate of $27 / $40 / $53 depending on lesson length.
• If paying per month, the student is guaranteed a maximum of two rescheduled
lessons without penalty per term (see above for term time frames). Any further
rescheduled lessons are not guaranteed but when possible will result in a charge
of $7 / $10 / $13 that must be paid at the beginning of the rescheduled lesson.
• If paying per term, the student is guaranteed a maximum of two rescheduled
lessons without penalty per term. Any further rescheduled lessons are not
guaranteed but when possible will result in a charge of $7 / $10 / $13 that must
be paid at the beginning of the rescheduled lesson.
• If paying per year, the student is guaranteed a maximum of five rescheduled
lessons without penalty per year. Any further rescheduled lessons are not
guaranteed but when possible will result in a charge of $7 / $10 / $13 that must
be paid at the beginning of the rescheduled lesson.

If the instructor must miss a lesson, he must give notice at least 24 hours before the
scheduled lesson time. Any lessons cancelled by the instructor will be rescheduled. If
the instructor must reschedule more than three lessons in a term, any further rescheduled
lessons will be free of charge or, if payment has already been made, the individual lesson
cost will be refunded.

Miscellaneous

In-home lessons may have an additional travel fee depending on distance.

Payment must be cash or check (made out to Nathan Bontrager).

Lessons will not be given during the week in which Christmas Day falls. Lessons which
fall on Thanksgiving, New Years Day, and Easter will be rescheduled without penalty.
