Official rules for Belot Belot is a game for 4 people (two teams of two).

There are variations for 2 and 3 pla ers !ut those are not popular at all. The game is pla ed with 32 standard pla ing cards. "rom a standard dec# of cards ou remove the 2$s 3$s 4$s %$s and &s. Rules of the game The pla ers sit so that team'mates face each other. There are 4 stages to the game (. )ealing The dealer* if he+she so wishes shuffles the dec# and hands the dec# to the pla er on his+her left* who then cuts the dec#. ,nti'cloc#wise ever pla er is dealt 3 cards and su!se-uentl 2 cards. .ow ever pla er has % cards. 2. Bidding The point of the dealing is to determine which game is going to !e pla ed out. /ere are the possi!le games0 2.( 1pecific trump game. 2ith a trump game one of the suits is decided as a trump suit* the rest are e-ual in strength. The strength of the cards of the trump suit are as follows ( descending order). 3*4*,*(5*6*7*8*9. 2ith the rest of the suits the strength of the cards is as follows0 ,* (5* 6* 7* 3* 4 *8 *9 , trump card is stronger than an card from an other suit. 2.2 .o Trump game. There is no trump in this game and the strengths of all the suits are as follows0 ,* (5* 6* 7* 3* 4 *8 *9. 2.3 ,ll Trumps /ere all the suits are trump suits i.e. the strengths of the cards is as follows0 3*4*,*(5*6*7*8*9 Bidding proceeds as follows0 The first !idder is the pla er to the right of the dealer. /e proposes one of the variants of the game (i.e. chooses a trump suit or no trump or all trumps. :f he does not wish to propose a game he will !id pass. The ne;t pla er can suggest a higher game or pass. The lowest game is <lu!s followed ! diamonds then hearts then spades then no trump then all trumps. 2hen a valid !id is made an opponent ma declare that he+she wishes to dou!le. This means that the opponent intends on winning the proposed game. :f that does happen then the score for the game is dou!led. :n repl the original !idding team ma declare a redou!le. :n that event the score is -uadrupled. Bidding ends when three pla ers consecutivel !id a pass. Then the dealer deals 3 e;tra cards. :f no valid game was !id (ever one said pass) the cards are gathered together and the ne;t person deals. 3. Playing the game The game !egins with the pla er on the right of the dealer. /e+she places one of their cards on the ta!le ( that card determines the wanted suit). ,ll other pla ers place one of their cards from the same suit. The hand is won ! the pla er who placed the highest card (or trump). The person who won the hand gathers the cards of that hand and places them face down in front of him. The person who won the hand starts off the ne;t hand and so on. 3.( 1pecific Trump game. The !asics of the game is in the compulsor following of the wanted suit. :f that suit is a trump then it is compulsor to pla a higher trump (if ou have one).:f a pla er doesn$t hold a card of the wanted suit he+she is o!liged to pla a trump card (trumping) onl if the hand is !eing won ! an opponent so far. :f the

opponent has alread (trumped) and ou cannot follow suit ou must pla a higher trump if ou can (otherwise ou can pla an card). 3.2 .o Trumps game 1ame as the specific trump game !ut there is no trump and the onl rule in pla is the following of suit. 3.3 ,ll Trumps game. /ere all suits are trumps so as well as following suit ou must give a higher trump if ou can regardless of who is winning the hand. 4.Scoring ,t the end of the game each teams counts their points from the hands the have won. The ta!le !elow outlines how much points each card carries0 <ard Trump .ot a Trump 9 5 5 8 5 5 4 (4 5 (5 (5 (5 3 25 2 7 3 3 6 4 4 , (( (( To the total team score is added points scored from !onuses (see !elow). 2hen the .o Trumps game is pla ed the points scored are dou!led (e;cept for the !onus of getting all the hands). :f the team that !id the game scores more points then the opponent then the game is won ! the !idders. :f the points are e-ual then the game is declared hanging. :f the !idding team does not score more points then the opponent then the game is forfeited ! the !idding team. 2hen the game is won successfull !oth teams record their respective scores divided ! (5 and rounded to a whole num!er (see later for the rounding rules). 2hen the game is forfeited the team that didn$t !id records all points ( including those scored ! the !idding team) divided ! (5 and rounded (see later for the rounding rules). 2hen the game hangs the team that !id that game does not record an points !ut those points are left to the winner of the ne;t game. :f the ne;t game hangs then the points accumulate for the game after that and so on= 2hen there was a dou!le declared the team with more points records all points dou!led( all !onuses are dou!led including the !onus for getting all the hands). 2hen there was a redou!le declared the team with more points records all the point -uadrupled (all !onuses are -uadrupled including those for getting all the hands). 2hen there was a dou!le or a redou!le declared all points remain for the winner of the ne;t game. The game ends when one team records (%( points or more. :f !oth teams !oth score more than (%( points at the same time then the team with more points wins. :f the scores are e-ual over this figure then more games are pla ed until one team ta#es the lead. There is an e;ception which states that ou cannot win the whole game ! collecting all hands in one game. :n that event the !arrier for winning the game is lifted to the current score of the leaders >(. Bonuses

:f a pla er holds the following com!inations of cards and declares so when pla ing his+her first card of that game wins for his+her team the respective points0 <om!ination )eclaration ?oints 3 cards in a se-uence from the triple 25 same suit 4 cards in a se-uence from the 4 in a row %5 same suit % or more cards in se-uence -uint (55 from the same suit 4 e-ual cards ((5*7*6*,) -uad (55 4 4$s -uad (%5 4 3ac#s -uad 255 The order of se-uence of the cards when getting !onuses is 9*8*4*(5*3*7*6*,. 2hen the game of .o trumps is pla ed the pla ers cannot declare an com!inations. @ou cannot get points for !onuses e;cept for getting all the hands and (5 points for the last hand. :f a card participates in a -uad and a se-uential !onus (triple* 4 in a row* -uint) the pla er can onl declare one of the !onuses. :f two different teams declare a se-uential !onus* the team that has the longest such se-uence scores an points from that !onus. 2hen the se-uential !onuses are of e-ual length the se-uence which is considered higher is the one that starts with the highest card (in !onus se-uence strength). :f the highest !ids of !oth teams are of e-ual strength then no team records se-uential !onuses scores. :f two different teams declare a -uad !onus then the team that has the se-uence from higher cards ( in trump suit order) scores the points. The actual se-uences is revealed at the end of each individual game. The Belot !onus. :f a pla er has a 6 and 7 from a trump suit (an suit in the all trumps game) and declares it during the pla of the game scores for his+her team 25 points. The declaration of Belot happens when the first of the two cards (6 and 7) is pla ed and one of the following must also !e true0 (. The card is pla ed as the first card of that hand 2. The pla er is following suit 3. The pla er is trumping. , !onus of (5 points is given to the team who won the last hand (final (5). :f all hands are won ! the same team then that team wins a !onus of 45 points (all hands !onus). Rounding The total score with the final (5 !onus is 2%8 (2&) in a ,ll Trumps game* 2&5 (2& after dou!ling) in the .o Trumps game and (&2 ((&) in the specific trump game. :n the ,ll Trumps game difficulties with rounding arise when the score ends with a 4. e.g. 34'224*(&4'(44 ( if the game has a (55 point !onus) and so on. :n that event the team with less points rounds up e.g. 4'22 and (9'(4. :n .o Trumps there can !e no rounding pro!lems

:n 1pecific Trumps game rounding difficulties arise when the score ends in &. ,gain the team with less points rounds up. A;ample with %&'(5& ou score &'(5 and &'(%& the teams score ('(% and so on.

, special case is when the game is 1pecific trumps or ,ll trumps and one of the teams has a !onus of %5 or (%5. this ena!les the score of (%4'(%4 in ,ll trumps and (5&'(5& in 1pecific trumps. :n that event the points that are hanging are rounded up. :n the first e;ample the team that didn$t !id wins (% points and (& points hand and in the second e;ample the non'!idding team wins (5 points and (( points are left hanging.
