I seek to utilize my 8+ years of experience in youth development, family engagement, and community-based, qualitative research to serve youth and families in the Sarasota/Bradenton area. Education: 2010-2012 University of Minnesota-College of Education & Human Development Candidate for Masters of Education in Youth Development Leadership 2005-2009 University of Minnesota-College of Education & Human Development Bachelor of Science degree in Youth Studies from the School of Social Work Work Experience: YouthLEAD Employment Counselor @ Lifetrack Resources February 2013-present Provide timely, accurate, and individualized case management for 57+ youth ages 14-24 around overcoming a variety of employment barriers including, but not limited to, obtaining a GED/diploma, completing required transitional programs for foster care and/or experiencing a physical, emotional, or learning disability Facilitate and staff weekly Open Lab hours with experienced volunteers and local employers to assist youth with creating and editing resumes and applying for jobs Compile data and write monthly and annual reports in order to maintain grant funding, meet and exceed program goals regarding placement and retention in the workforce and achieving individual youth goals (including completing a degree program or post-secondary training, etc.) Achievements: recognized 5 youth at the annual All-Star event for going above and beyond program expectations while working together, have regularly surpassed program goals around recruitment including having placed the most youth in a Ramsey County YouthLEAD program in unsubsidized employment, obtaining youth goals, and work placement, partner with community organizations to provide free, high-end self-care kits to youth entering the workforce for the first time Urban 4-H Program Coordinator @ University of Minnesota, Youth Development Extension March 2010-May 2013 Ensure family and youth engagement in Urban 4-H clubs and assist Urban 4-H Office in developing effective ways of connecting with and engaging Twin Cities families while meeting OJJDPs Group Mentoring Grant requirements Coordinate, plan, and facilitate weekly youth mentoring club meetings at McDonough Recreation Center, a community center located within St. Pauls largest family housing site owned by the Public Housing Agency Coordinate family empowerment workshops and recruit speakers to help parents work with their children to set short- and long-term educational & personal goals Supervise, recruit, and train volunteers, mentors, and interns for Urban 4-H clubs in Ramsey and Hennepin Counties Provide opportunities for youth to create and nurture community relationships Achievements: McDonough Urban 4-H Club is now the largest club (most youth in attendance) for teens at the recreation center and also has engaged more young women, a historically underserved population, than any other McDonough youth program Youth Recreation Leader @ City of St. Paul Parks & Recreation June 2012-May 2013 Coordinate programming at McDonough Recreation Center, located within the McDonough Townhomes public housing neighborhood

(Hyg.) Director, Youth Studies Led two University of Minnesota Youth Studies classes each semester in research projects for the City of St. Pauls Parks and Recreation. Research focused on the role of Recreation Centers in the everyday lives of young people and other stakeholders in the surrounding communities. Coordinate schedules and transportation for 15-30 undergrads per class to various sites around St. Paul. 2011-2012 Sexuality Educator, Birds & Bees Residency Program Completed the Birds & Bees Sexuality Educator Residency program which included over 60 hours of training, completion of special projects (including a project with youth in the Saint Paul Park & Recreation system), and facilitated sexuality education programming with youth in transition at Avenues for Homeless Youth in North Minneapolis Spring 2009 Student Support Intern at Riverside Plaza in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood Provide one-on-one & group academic support to students ages 13-18, created a Resource Center in the youth room by networking with many youth serving programs in the area. Created and led a Teen Relationship workshop highlighting the qualities of healthy relationships, both romantic and platonic, led a weekly Girls Leadership Group that practiced co-creation and shared power in program design and implementation
