Korean American Adventures (KAA), an educational consulting firm based in New York, New York, is

seeking five intelligent, insightful, and creative college graduates to function as Head Teachers and
curriculum designers for our pilot “Winter Camp in Korea” experience. “Winter Camp” is an English
immersion experience designed for Korean middle school students learning English as a second
language; the three week camp will run from January 3rd through January 23rdat a university campus in
Seoul, South Korea, with teacher training conducted in Korea from approximately the 31st to the 3rd.
“Winter Camp” is a combination residential camp and school; our 40 American teachers, selected
primarily from undergraduate universities and colleges, will live with their students, eat with them, teach
them, and lead them in competitive and creative activities. The camp curriculum will consist of classes in
the morning, divided by grade level (5th and 6th, 7th and 8th), with a portion of each class devoted to drills.
Lessons will focus on discreet topics, in particular giving students the tools they need to use English
throughout the camp experience—at the dinner table, during games, on the sports field, in discussions,
and with their friends. Afternoons at Winter Camp are less conventional: electives will integrate English
lessons into exciting activities--for example, “crafting cookies” might teach words for shapes, tastes, and
naesthetics, while “snow castles” might teach architectural words. After electives, students will participate
in large games, many with stories, sets, and actors—the games will again focus on teaching English,
creating immersive imaginative experiences, and reinforcing and building upon the skills learned in the
other lessons.
We are seeking five candidates with experience creating curricula, teaching classes, and/or creating
games. Our five Head Teachers will create lesson plans for the 15 morning classes, train, mentor, and
evaluate our 40 teachers in Korea, and contribute to the design of large, educational/interactive games.
Our Head Teachers will help shape the program and its curriculum in New York in the fall; they will then
participate in the program in Korea where they will work in tandem with our Academic and Executive
Directors to strive to make the program a success.
Head teachers/curriculum designers will receive 25 dollars an hour for all work rendered in the fall
semester (in creating the camp’s curriculum) and then will receive a $4000 stipend for the month of
January, in addition to room and board while in Korea, and flights to and from Seoul. We anticipate
biweekly group meetings to discuss curriculum development as well as individual projects—with a
potential of about 40-80 hours of work per head teacher in the Fall. Interested candidates should send
