GREAT LEADERSHIP IS GOOD LEADERSHIP Introduction:

Leadership is the ability to transform followers, creating visions of the goals that may be attained, and articulating for the followers the ways to attain those goals. Leadership is not associated with the power, status or the position at which a person is standing. It is the ability which every person can possess and execute at its own level. Whereas good leadership is concerned, it is often referred to as effective leadership which is about getting followers to pursue and attain shared organizational goals. The author Jaffrey Gandz explained some characteristics of good leadership which make them great at the end. For him a good leader must be effective one and should have the ability to pursue his or her followers to attain the organizational goal. He must be able to recognize the environmental forces, develop winning strategies, evaluate and execute results. Secondly, a good leader must serve for good purpose and must develop a policy which is better for organizations stakeholders. Thirdly, leader must make those strategies and plans which are ethically good for the society in which the organization is operating. Lastly, a good leader should behave well with his subordinates. He should motivate its followers to do the assigned task but not force them to do and should realize the importance of his followers.

Background:
Looking into the soul of any great leader and we will find a good leader. Leaders who are highly effective and possess the five characteristics explained by writer are good leaders; others who show off and work in spotlight are not so great. Good leadership is also concerned with the purpose or goals a leader want his followers to achieve, whether these goals fit within the society in which an organization operates. Leaders work with their followers to develop a convincing future vision, encourage high performance and empower people to act within agreed upon vision.

Critical Review:
Leader is a person who influences his or her subordinated to behave in a desired manner. According to the author of the article Good Leadership is Great Leadership a leader is considered as a good leader if he possesses certain characteristics which he defined. First and

foremost, if the leader is good he is considered as effective also and highly effective leaders must be able to: Recognize and analyze the countrys political, economic, societal and technological forces, which could affect the operations and strategies of the organization. Do competitive analysis of own organization and to develop such strategies by which could organization could compete and satisfy the expectation of stakeholders. Brilliantly execute, formulize and evaluate strategies by involving people. Secondly, leaders of businesses must pursue shareholders interest exclusively and should be compensated for doing so. Importance of stakeholders should also be considered in the business. Stakeholders like customers, suppliers, employees, governments national and regional societies in which business operates are also very important. Businesses benefits suppliers but at the same time they are also depended on the excellent services of those suppliers, employees commitment and engagement, giving value to customers, employing people of the society and paying taxes to government are all the important factors and on which we are depended as organization because by these organizations are successful. Good leadership possesses the quality of good purpose which is to develop strategies that will serve the interests of both shareholders and stakeholders. Thirdly, good leadership is also associated with ethical goodness of a leader. Unlike the concept of social responsibility it is not the fundamental purpose of any organization, it is about the ways in which business people act in the society. Business ethicists recognized different forms of unethical behavior. The first one is that the actions which are not within the scope of the role of leader or that the books of accounts should not fiddle and managers should not charge their personal expenses to the corporation or the information of the stocks should not be used to get personal benefits. Second unethical action is that performing those actions which are not accepted by society or misguiding the customers about the performance of the product and lying about the terms and conditions of employment. Third unethical action is that failure to recognize talent of minority groups and failure to give people regular performance review.

Fourthly, thinking about good leadership also enable us to think about the importance of making people feel good or feelings about your leadership. People who are moved by ideas and ideals feel more motivated rather than by forcing them or by paying them to do so. When they are bought into effective leadership then the positive feelings generate their energy and momentum. A great leader always develop a sense of self-efficacy in his followers that they want to be led by such leaders and understand that they can achieve their goals through those leaders.

Recommendations:
Leadership is one of the most talked about phenomena now days. Some are born leader but it could also be taught. It is recommended to every leader of organizations that they should develop all the characteristics in their own personalities which are considered mandatory for becoming a good leader. The leaders must be effective one to influence his or her followers and to make people confident about that they will achieve their organizational goals if they will continuously follow that leader. The leader should also be capable to serve strategies and plans that reflect a good purpose to be served; they should also be ethically responsible to society and should not mislead other.

Conclusion:
The debate about good or great leadership in business tells us that the shareholders value is an important factor but societal values are also the broader concern to be good. Leadership is not only about achievements, it is also about contributions to the societies within which organizations operate. Good leadership will articulate the way to the great leadership.
