3.3 Operating the Laser Imager

Konica Minolta M&G Printlink III-ID/IV can be connected to the Konica Minolta M&G Laser Imager DRYPRO Series. The above laser imagers can be operated from Konica Minolta M&G Printlink III-ID/IV, however, some laser imager operations must be performed from the laser imager or imager. This section describes how to operate the imager for daily usage.

3.3.1 Turning the power ON

When the power of the imager connected to Printlink III-ID/IV is not ON, the message "IMAGER not ready" will appear when the STATUS screen (see "4.4 STATUS Screen") is displayed in the Printlink III-ID/IV controller. When this message appears, turn ON the imager according to the instruction in the imager's Operatoin Manual.

Reference Images can be stored or printed even while the message "IMAGER not ready" is displayed. An image stored during this time is memorized in Printlink III-ID/IV and printed after the imager power is turned ON.
If the status does not change after the imager goes ON, display the STATUS screen (see "4.4 STATUS Screen") in the Printlink III-ID/IV imager and touch the [ERROR RESET] button. The message "IMAGER not ready" will disappear and the error status will be released.

3.3.2 Loading supply film

When film becomes empty in the currently used imager, the message "Film empty XXxXX YYY" (XXxXX = film size / YYY = film type) will appear when the STATUS screen (see "4.4 STATUS Screen") is displayed in the Printlink III-ID/IV controller. When this message appears, refer to the Operatoin Manual for the imager and load films in the imager. Reset the error on the imager side when the films are loaded. The error can be reset by displaying the STATUS screen (see "4.4 STATUS Screen") in the Printlink III-ID/IV controller and touching the [ERROR RESET] button. When the error is reset, the message "Film empty XXxXX YYY" will disappear and the error status will be cleared.

3.3.3 How to Control Density

Follow the descriptions in the Operatoin Manual of the imager and control the density from the controller.

If a patient name or patient ID is not indicated on a film, the default patient name or patient ID specified upon installation will be displayed, therefore, change it to an accurate patient name or patient ID.

CAUTION When using a card reader (optional item), you cannot edit a patient ID or patient name because data read from the card reader is protected. If you must edit the content read from a card reader, edit the content recorded in the magnetic card and then read the content with the card reader.
The entered patient name and patient ID can be written to a film as stamps when printing with an imager. (See "3.16 Stamp Function".) They will be sent as patient data when output to a storage. Furthermore, you can enlarge and print a patient ID or patient name on a film by using the patient data overlay function (optional).

3.9.1 Image formats
An image format refers to the pattern for allocating stored images on a film. (1) Available image formats The same image format as in the connected imager can be used for Printlink III-ID/IV. The format that can be used depends on the connected imager, image data size, and film size. For details, refer to the Operation Manual of the connected imager. Indications of image formats The image format is indicated as 3 x 4, 9/2, etc. The following are the meanings of the above two indications. 34 : 3 horizontal frames x 4 vertical frames = 12 frames 9/2 : Mixed-size format with 9 frames on the top row and 2 on the bottom row. Maintenance & Inspection

This chapter describes the procedure for maintaining the machine on a regular basis.

WARNING Cleaning with the power ON may lead to damaging the machine. Make sure that the power is OFF before cleaning the machine. Furthermore, be sure to unplug the power cord.

6.1 Checking the Fan Operation

Check if the ventilation fan on the backside of the machine is working properly from its sound, etc.

WARNING If the ventilation fan does not work properly, heat cannot be ejected from the internal section which may result in faulty operation of the server PC.

6.2 Cleaning the Controller

- LCD panel
Wipe the surface of the LCD panel carefully with a soft cloth.

CAUTION The surface of the LCD panel is vulnerable to scratches, so do not use a hard cloth or tap it with any hard object. In addition, do not push or apply excessive force on the LCD panel as it is very delicate.
