November 12th 2013 AN ARREST

Orrin Brower shocked the city of Russell in 1876 when he murdered his brother-in-law i n s u c h b r u t a l i t y, t h a t i t w a s a l m o s t unfathomable as to how no one had ever voiced any suspicions of him. The total of 32 stab wounds to the back meant his victim had no way of protecting himself, and his total inability to show any guilt shocked a nation. After the arrest was made, he was immediately thrown into prison where he awaited his trail. But 3 months into his stay, he attacked the single jailer guarding his cell with an iron bar to the back of the head, and escaped. Whilst on the run, he made the decision to return to prison and face prosecution for his crimes, a feat that shocked police even today. Brower never revealed as to what made him to do this, but in the recent discovery of his diary, these questions have been answered.

The newly found piece of evidence was discovered last week and was not disclosed until 11am GMT yesterday. It entails his weeks in prison in which he was awaiting his trial and gives much insight into the reasons for his decision to return. Orrin Brower was as courageous as a criminal could ever be, he knew at his trial he would be found guilty, and he knew he would be hung. So to give up his demand for freedom and to return back to his equation of hell was almost incomprehensible.- Dr Jane Adkins. Brower continued to write in his diary when he got back to the penitentiary, and revealed that when he was a fugitive, a man who is yet to be identified found him and simply pointed to the direction of the situation of the jail, which for some reason Brower accepted and turned round.

My heart is very sore because I know that I have broken my sisters heart, and my entity is struck with unbearable anxiety. But I have considered all the arguments and tried every means to avoid what has become the unavoidable: it was forced upon me and he deserved the fate he received. Orrin Browers diary (12,34). Smith Johnson, Head Sherriff of the Russell PD said in a candid interview Orrin Brower was a broken, maybe he finally owned up to what he did, maybe he just couldnt hack it on the run. But the only thing that Im sure of is, that in 30 years on the force, Ive never seen a man just turn around.

After Brower was re-imprisoned he was sentenced to death and merely a week later was hung in a public execution.
